I am a little surprised and certainly let down that we got no good burn spells in this set. We know that Arc Lightning doesn't make the main deck anymore, from our experience with Flames of the Firebrand--nobody knew when that card came in or left standard. It's too bad, really. This standard will have no good one mana burn, not even Shock.
My favorite part of Jeskai Charm is fetchlands. What, you say? In response to fetching, send a creature to the top of their library. BOOM. Whoops. Got excited for a minute there.
The trick will be finding a deck that needs to save the mana in the late game. This'll pretty much never cost less than Hero's Downfall through turn 3. It gets cheaper later, but do you need to use less mana later? I'm not sure. It's definitely on my radar though, as it has potential.
Yikes. Cool name, funny creature type, and lots of disappointment. I agree that it could have been printed as an uncommon and no one would have cared much. I would really expect some kind of 'dies' trigger or anything to tie the card with the name.
Don't like it. Undercosted beater that hoses a much cooler card, Sadisi. There's nothing interesting about this card other than the fact it was pushed. Boring. (And a downer because of the graveyard hate.)
Oh boy. There had better be good removal for limited, otherwise KTK limited will be run by bombs. ...wait a second... This card is a bit ridiculous in limited. 'Surprise?!' Heh heh..
There's a steep drop off after #1, Delve. Delve can be tricky to manage when deck building in Limited. The other mechanics basically ask that you run some stuff you were going to anyway, like creatures (Raid, Ferocious) and some other spells (Prowess). Outlast is similar to Delve in that it only requires you have some resource--in that case, extra mana. As boring as putting +1/+1 counters on your guys at sorcery speed is, I might give Outlast second place and only because no additional cards are needed and I like having a mana dump. Thank goodness for Delve, the only KTK mechanic that doesn't solely deal with creatures. The cards have been more exciting than the mechanics thankfully.
They'll go down to $8-15 each. It's a big set that'll sell plenty of product. Plus some folks already have theirs. It should be slightly lower prices than the Zendikar fetches, which were never printed before. ZEN fetchlands were around $8-15 after they went into circulation.
Holy cow. I was so blinded from the excitement of fetch lands that I didn't realize how absolutely bonkers Courser of Kruphix is going to be. Even though you're really only gaining 1 life for playing a Wooded Foothills and fetching, be able to see and manipulate the top of your deck with fetch shuffling is really powerful for a green deck.. especially considering Courser is already a house in standard.
When casually checking MTGS on your phone completely wakes you up. Take my money. Just take it.
Edit: Are people really complaining that fetches make only one color for standard? Wow. Fine. You all are wet towels. Clearly this serves the purpose of bolstering Modern mana and reducing prices of these huge staple cards. And really it's not bad standard fixing. This alone will ensure I'm buying at least one booster box, which I hardly ever do. (I did call that this block would have fetches, right when RTR shocks rotated. As states: prayers answered.) maybe in not making sense right now... but fetch lands....
Works nicely with Satyr Wayfinder at least.
