1. Your buying a couple cases and you plan to sell off the extras ASAP before the set value crashes, or can figure out what to hold and sell when the bubble is high. Than you can with a few thousand to invest and extra time and effort, crack packs for a profit.
2, You enjoy drafting and have an outlet for drafting
3. You like playing lottery scratch offs, cause buying a random pack or even sometimes just a box is just the same as buying some lottery tickets.
What gave LD a bad name was Black Vise + Stone Rain + Pillage + Strip Mines + thermokarst back in the day in Type 2. But lets also remember Swamp + Dark Ritual + Hymn + Hymn before you played your 1st turn was a thing too. Swamp + Dark Ritual + Hypnotic Spector was also a thing.
Honestly LD is a deck where it works or blows up in your face. In many ways fighting LD brought out Pox decks. When they restricted Black Vise and Strip Mines. LD kept control in check, but also lost to aggro, or turn 1-2 hand destruction.
The only issue my rat pack draft decks had was the guy with 3 void wielders and 2 rescues and just kept bouncing my rats and than played a skymark roc and it was gg.
this is why I stopped grading cards that I sell on Ebay. I use photos but I refuse to use any grading system, cause someone always wants to complain about some thing not being NM in their mind, or SP being Played and not slight splayed in someone else's mind. Just take photos of the cards, any damage I make sure its photographed and move on with the listing.
As I see it, they shouldnt call something near mint if it has any sort of play to it, but other than asking for a refund and paying more for the cards, you could ask if they more in stock for a swap out, but if you got a great deal on a card on the upswing, I would just be happy.
So you've been cheating since Revised - good to know.
Yes cause I am sure your able to hand shuffle your deck where all your lands are in 10-12 in a row clumps 2 out of 3 matches. Call it what you want, but the true randomness of MTGO gets no where close to distribution of hand shuffling, Im not talking about "mana weaving" but just normal shuffling may once in a while clump up your lands but not in the way your dealing with on MTGO.
I agree many times "mana screw" = poor deck building. Not having the right mana base for double/triple color mana spells, thinking you can splash for this or that when you can't. Not mulligan correctly. Just after I made my last post, I jumped into a draft, drafted what I thought was fine, round 1 game 1, 1st hand no land. mulligan, 2nd hand no land, ok there are 17 sources of mana in this 40 card deck. 3rd hand 3 lands and 2 spells, 15 turns later i have 13 lands out. Now again, ok game 2 hit land drops, nothing excessive, win, game 3 I keep a 3 land, 4 spell hand, never see a 4th land. Its just like a mirror situation, cause at the end of a game if I am sitting on 13 lands out of 16-17 in a 40 card deck and I loose to someone with 7-8 lands thats 5-6 cards in advantage. When your in the end game, your opponent is playing spells and your drawing lands, your most likely not going to win. Again, been playing since revised, so mana screw isnt new to me, but at least MTGO, you have to deal with more random card distribution than youll ever see in just shuffling in paper.
Ive lost about 150 rating on MTGO the past week, after rising about 200 points in the week prior. What I have found is Im just in a weird no mana or mana flood issue. I just lost a round 1 match where I had 3 voidwielders, 2 rescues, 2 Azorius charms to a token deck. In 2 matches I drew 1 charm and that was it. Im getting a lot of 11st hand no land, mull into 2-3 land hand, than my next 9 cards are lands or I cant get past my 3rd land drop. I dont mind loosing so I can learn from the game, but when I flood out in game in, and think maybe I am playing to many lands (17) than with the same deck cant get past 3 lands in the next game, what do you really learn?
So pretty much just open your winning packs? been 2-1 these with ease, nice to play cards I am use to playing from my time when I was a decent magic player.
My thoughts on RTR limited is your playing: 1st person to get to 4 lands, than the 1st person to get to 6 lands without getting flooded. Unless your Rakdos, and 3 lands can still let you win.
What I see is a weird pack quality, one pack has 3-4 cards that I want and the next 3-4 packs might not just be in my guild or colors, but just has nothing thats even playable. I thought it was just me and bad drafting but I have seen a few streamers that are better than me commenting on the same thing.
The difference between my 3-1 a daily sealed event and 0-4 or 1-3 is 1-2 life points. I cant tell you how many times I am at 5 my opponent is at 7 and I can only get 6 damage through and next turn I get burned out or the/she can get at least 5 through. RTR needs tight play, cause most games dont end with one player at 20 and the other dead, normally both players in my games are at low single digits and the win comes from who rips a card off the top deck while the other bricks lands.
I won over 60 packs during the prerelease period, not I have like 5 packs and cant seem to win anything.
I see this going the way of FTV, dealers hoarding a limited release set and trying to see it for 600 per box on ebay. It all depends on how "limited" the set is. Honestly, if WOTC wants Modern to be a real format, than this set should be Chronicles V2 to get the cards into peoples hands. It depends on how limited this set is, how many retailers sell booster packs at MSRP, and how many try to hoard their allotment.
Ive sold over 1,000 cards in the past 2 years on ebay, just had my 1st card is damaged, though the buyer never contacted me, just left negative feedback for not using a top loader. Ive shipped over seas with soft sleeves, and bubble thick packaging, and 1/1000 issues, though Im not sure how much I trust someone who doesnt try to resolve an issue before leaving negative feedback.
I must say I am getting sick and tired of dealing with buyers on ebay, they complain about the shipping cost, 2 dollars than complain cause you didnt use 3-4 dollars in shipping supplies.
