So there's no MSRP, but online packs are $6.99 and boxes are sold to LGS at a price that also suggests a $6.99 pricetag to maintain their margins. The de factor $7 MSRP is of course contingent on playability and scarcity/print run size. A complete lack of impact cards will tank the price, while a short print run and highly playable modern staples will drive MM1-like markups.
I'm not clear on what you're looking for here. It seems like you're trying to convince us instead of the store owner. Why not just talk to them?
Consignment is also a good suggestion as it lessens the risk for the store. You're asking the store to tie up a lot of cash in a couple items, which could be a huge risk for them depending on their cash flow. If that ties up funds that they could use on less risky, sure to move product, you need to be offering them a much higher profit margin in order to make that risk attractive.
Consider that instead they could buy sealed KTK product, which is likely to be a huge seller due to fetches. They can make almost 50% profit selling $4 booster packs ($75 box sells for $144 if sold as $4 boosters). Why risk $24K to make $30K when they could buy 50 cases of KTK for less and make over $40K?
Why would the mythics hold more value compared to a normal foil than the rares? If the rares are easier to obtain than a normal foil rare, the mythics will be far, far more common than a non-stamped foil mythic, no?
Well, something's gotta give. So far Wizards has confirmed that there are 40 possible promos, and that 5 are the Khans. We've seen 6 different Temur promos opened, none of which are Surrak, meaning 7 different confirmed packs before seeing Tusker or Knuckleblade. Either one of the presumed cycles is not, or Temur has more than 8 possible promos. While either is theoretically possible, I find it much more plausible that we're wrong on one of the two remaining assumed cycles than that WotC decided to give unbalanced promo distribution by clan.
That....was not worth waiting for. Not even any obvious uncommon staples in these aside from a single charm in each. Usually they're good for a few Banishing Light and the like.
They do not compete. Duals are the fuel for fetches. Their price is much more closely-related to the price and availability of fetches than that of other legacy staples.
Right now, tcgplayer says Wooded Foothills is about $14 average. I want to buy a playset, but I always feel bad about dropping $50 on 4 cards. However, the price will probably just go up, right?
Wait for 2-3 weeks after release before buying. The price will drop unless a tier 1 deck emerges with foothills as a 4-of.
While I agree with the prediction that the price will drop if it's not seeing a lot of Standard play after the Pro Tour, I also believe that RGx is probably the strongest color combination going into Khans, on the back of the Sylvan Caryatid / Courser of Kruphix / Xenagos Planeswalker / Chandra Pyromaster / Nissa engine that will all continue to be very much legal in the new format.
You may be right, but keep in mind that only one of the five clans supports the RG pairing. The real power in the cards you listed lies primarily in green, and red could be odd man out if other color pairing in other clans end up with better support.
One card I haven't seen mentioned is Grim Lavamancer, which should benefit from more prevalent fetches in modern (and cheaper fetches for budget burn decks).
Ugh. Bad set is bad. Calling it early because it's obvious.
How in the world is this set bad? Everyone's raving about it so far, it has a wonderful depth of flavor, finally added wedges, and HAS FETCHES. Wait, let me guess, this is also proof of magic dying too right? And all sets are bad, etc.
Someone always has to cry about something.
This set is really solid. New ways to morph, new charms, wedges, fetches, and delve I wonder what is need to make it "not bad".
Good cards are needed mostly. This set is currently lacking in that
Good cards for what? What is your criteria? Legacy playable? Modern playable? There's only a quarter of the set and all of it is terrible, despite it having something everyone's clamored for for years.
One quarter of the set is generous, even, given that 20 of the "spoiled" cards so far are basic lands. I guess the mountains in this set are underwhelming?
I love that RTR is held up as the example of a sufficiently powerful/impactful set when the chase cards that see more than fringe eternal play are:
- A cycle of expensive land reprints that are only relevant in modern
- Deathrite Shaman - a mistake that was banned in modern before it had even rotated from standard
- Abrupt Decay
As others have noted, DRS was a sleeper and took many weeks for people to understand its power and impact. The fetches are far more impactful than the shocks, as they've never been in modern and also significantly reduce the barrier to legacy where shocks are unplayable.
So basically this set needs one card that people will break a few weeks after release and one versatile, cost-efficient removal spell and it goes from underwhelming to awesome?

Either the Savage Knuckleblade or Avalanche Tusker pack does not exist, if there are indeed 8 per clan.
