To be fair I saw complaints when the following happened by the majority of players I knew and/or comments online.
6th Edition Rules Changes and Removal of Interrupts
8th Edition Card Face Changes
Double-Sided Cards in Innistrad
Legendary Rule Change in Champions of Kamigawa
Legendary/Planeswalker Rule Change in M14
Future Sight Future Shifted Borders
Nearly every major change brings a parade of boos from the audience. Yet, surprise surprise I still see the majority of the same players no matter what happens.
I remember even people complaining about all black frames for core sets (10th ed) because it meant new players don't know which sets to use (ie telling them to use white border cards is easier than having them remember expansion symbols), so yeah people complain about anything.
So... what happens with the 'mill until you find a land' cards such as Balustrade Spy?
Since there are no lands in the hydra deck, does the whole thing go in the graveyard, or does it not work because the challenge deck technically doesn't have a 'player' ?
I assume that the hydra doesn't count as a "player" for targeting purposes...
This guy's just doing his job reporting on the gritty underbelly of Ravnica. Day in, day out, he is constantly worn down by stories of horror and tragedy, never flinching in his hard-hitting coverage of the ruination of the once harmonious plane of Ravnica. In 2006 he won a Pulitzer for uncovering the truth behind the guildpact, and still to this day he risks his life interviewing the downtrodden to get their views exposed to the greater public, At any cost.
It basically involves perfect tron curve, with gruul signet turn 2 and having crusher to drop on t3. More likely is to use crop rotation, ancient stirrings and expedition map to dig for the pieces though and play it t4/5.
...
Also a nice mana bump trick if you need it is to tap your tron for {7}, then sac a piece using crop rotation for another of the same piece which comes into play untapped when you need to hit ulamog mana. So say you have:
1 Tower, 1 Plant, 1 Mine, prism in play and crop rotation in hand. Tap tron for {7}, use one mana to filter into green for crop rotation (down to {6}), sac say a mine to crop rotation, grab another mine to recomplete tron, tap for {2} (now {8} total) and play ulamog.

I know that Theros still hasn't arrived, but I wanted to leave this here and get some thoughts. When I saw these two my johnny sense kicked in, and my first thoughts turned to buyback/retrace/flashback/recover. Too expensive! I reread the mechanics article for heroic and when it specifically said auras work when they are played I thought of the shimmering wings cycle where you play them and bounce them for 2 mana. TBH I wasn't the first person to think of this deck idea, but instead of dropping akroan crusader into a RDW shell and using it every now and again I wanted to put wingsteed rider together with akroan crusader to maximise the chance of my heroic abilities firing, which pushed the deck into R/W.
Bit of draw in wild guess and faithless looting,
Bit of protection in hyena umbra and apostle's blessing,
Some pump in dynacharge, crown of flames, ghitu firebreathing and goblin bushwhacker.
Some light removal in the form of flame slash (and JtN in the side)
Some anti-control in the side which can double as a heroic enabler in pyroblast,
Anti-artifacts, use dust to dust, and leave no trace for anti-enchantment.
I was talking about Akroan with someone and yeah the whole idea of being a one trick pony deck by itself or fitting it into either a rdw/keeprites shell came up. Just mulling through some ideas...
RW You have access to heroic gro, using the 1WW 2/2 flying wingsteed rider that gets +1/+1 per heroic, needs protection badly though, wojek siren on the crusader to push through
About the gray syphoner, it's at least 4 point swing when you play him alone, would it be too much to ask having him in standard mbc? Extort is a bit too aggro to love him but it could be a (life draining) finisher there...
Did people use Typhoid Rats in INN block draft? I'm actually asking here haha, because I don't know. I know Deadly Recluse sees play in M14 draft, but reach makes all the difference.
I used it to gunk up the ground when they played their midrange beaters, I sort of think of it as a fog on legs during turn 3/4
Why not try to make a stodgy last breath cycle at common instead of a hard counter for 1 mana for the set's main theme?
Exile target (creature with pow <= 2 / spell with cmc <= 2 / creature with cmc <= 2 / creature with tough <= 2 / artifact or enchantment with cmc <=2) and they gain 4 life for WUBRG respectively. Boring design but hey it's at common and you can create some tension in limited
Anyway, Annul at common in this set is a bit silly, I'd like to believe that they wouldn't have hard counters so imbalanced to the set's main theme... at least in MRD block the artifacts that needed to be countered costed 0 or 2 so a 1 mana counterspell at common could stop the rot, but here with the expensive enchantments (5+ mana) that r&d is pushing for this set, a 1 mana hard counter is a bit silly tbh. Not saying that ench creatures will run riot, but sheesh give them a chance for a few months? Or is there something that FFL has forseen going into the rest of the block and is giving us the tools now so that we're ready for D-Day?
When I saw the article, I clicked it fast with the hopes of finding a new spoiler not up on this site. Unfortunately all I saw was a card we already knew about. Oh well.
Disappointment W
Instant.
You did not find a spoiler today. Add one to your mana pool.
I'll just tap a Paxland to add and cast...

They will add that in another 20 years.

(Sorry I'm not really contributing anything rumor mill related...)

In UR keep watch/crusader I'm thinking of shimmering wings, crown of flames, mark of fury etc and some targeted protection like apostle's blessing...
