the first line is absolutely mandatory. it is what the aura can target and be enchanted to. he must have a land with the mountain type to enchant or he can't cast it
the CoP shields won't do anything. they will try to prevent the damage and no longer can because of flaring pain. also it doesn't matter when you cast it as long as it was before the sources deal damage.
the only way you can do this is with a card like sleight of mind where you can target the merchant while its on the stack since the text change will carry over when it becomes a permanent.
don't those methods only apply to events using decklists? without using them i think the deck is still legal as long as the deck is at least 60 and the sb being between 0-15 cards and the cards are legal for the format
Needs to say:
"Target green creature you control gets +2/+2 until EOT. You may have that creature fight up to one target green creature an opponent controls."
Still wouldn't be great at sorcery, but wouldn't be so narrow.
Marking the damage on a Indestructible creature usually doesn't destroy it like it would with one without indestructible, but it can apply when cards like the Turn half of Turn/Burn or other cards like it that remove Indestructible from the creature and if it has damage marked on it that is greater than or equal to its toughness then the creature will be destroyed.
Addendum: If something were to trigger off her hitting the battlefield, you would be able to respond to that trigger (after your opponent passes priority) and kill Liliana before your opponent can use her.
Also if they were to play her during an opponent's turn via flash since the active player gets priority after a spell resolves and there isn't a single 'walker with an instant speed ability yet. Wouldn't be a good idea for them, but this does apply in some cases.
you sure can do that. burning earth triggers when you tap each land and each instance of the triggers can be responded to. you have to do it as you stated since if you tap the lands for mana while casting safe passage the triggers from burning earth will be on stack above safe passage.
If the ability didn't have "you may," you'd be forced to untap any tapped creature you targeted, and vice versa.
I don't think this is correct. Tapping a tapped creature is perfectly legal. It just has no effect. You cannot tap as a cost, but you can as an effect.
EDIT: I can use a Tamiyo, the Moon Sage +1 ability on a tapped permanant and it takes full effect.
EDIT2: I think you would be correct if the creature you're trying to tap read: "this card cannot be tapped", but even at that I'm not convinced, as you can cast counters on an uncounterable spell.
you can tap a tapped creature as part of an effect put not when trying to pay a cost(ie. heritage druid) or if the effect of a spell or ability specifies that the permanent must be untapped or it needs a target that is untapped. also tapping an already tapped permanent does not tap it again.
no to the clone since none of your creatures will be on the battlefield when you choose a creature to copy. also doppleganger doesn't target and will still become a copy of that creature even if it dies before the ability resolves.
a spell does nothing if all of its targets are illegal. so in the first 2 questions you would not draw a card since the only target was illegal during resolution. if a spell has multiple targets and as long as at least one is still legal the spell or ability will still affect the remaining targets.
