Thanks for the info. I like that the deck has many configurations and is not yet established. I've been having too much fun with small Vivien and Daredevil casting Dovin's Vetos but ultimately I agree with your reasoning.
Congrats! I have been trying Chainwhirler variants (with Llanowar Elves) and I haven't really decided which version works the best. I have also been impressed with Tibalt, but I have him in the sb.
Can you elaborate on the sideboard choices? Especially Ravager Wurm, Bolt Bend and the lack of Carnage Tyrant and Dire Fleet Daredevil. I've been trying small Vivien as well but she seems to fizzle often.
Do you side out the Llanowar Elves in any matchup?
What if wizards decided to be extra thematic and printed the elder spell only at the 'rarity' of a priceless treasure / masterpiece / etc, and it fits into the crunch at a number above 249? IE a double-secret super ultra mythic rare? That would preserve the number crunch normal setup, and explain Maro's evasive answer
I don't think Maro's answer is evasive. Someone asks "Thing X is Y or Z?" and he answers "Yes". He usually misunderstands the nature of the question.
This is an interesting idea, however the Elderspell probably is a rare that interacts with planeswalkers (like Bedevil) and its effect is not splashy enough to be mythic.
I hope it's just a coincidence or a joke, TNN would be incredibly frustrating to play against, that thing can only be answered by non-damage sweepers, which means only UW or Tron have ways to deal with it, GDS can yank it out of your hand before it hits the board but is nearly helpless against a topdecked one, and to make it even worse, it's blue of all freaking colors, so any deck that plays it will probably have counter backup for its nearly unkillable attacker and immortal blocker. I can't see any upsides of bringing TNN to Modern to be honest, there has to be another way to help Fish decks without bringing that pest in, leave it for multiplayer where it belongs.
Arguably. TNN's clock is much slower than the speed most modern decks go in competitive lately.
Then Wizards should unban Stoneforge to enable people to suit up TNN for faster beats. /s
Glimmer is way more powerful, the scry makes it so that you almost always draw quality cards. This isn't bad but I think that you need to have some ways to exploit its jumpstart ability (other than casting it, e.g. Search for Azcanta/surveil) to make the best use of the card.
This is very good for Standard. I don't think it's fair to compare it with Torrential Gearhulk. Super-powered Kaladesh block is rotating out so cards like this look like they have a chance to shine in the new environment.
Besides, once you get to 6 mana, it's easy to chain them since Surveil 4 digs A LOT and the bounce keeps you alive.
Off the top of my head, there's also a 2/1 Flash for 1B, an instant for 1B that destroys a creature with power 2 or less, some low power goblins, a 3BB 5/5 can't block that etb deals 5 damage to opponent and some others I don't remember.
How is Ensnaring Bridge working for people? You rarely empty your hand that fast to completely ignore attacks and the deck can have some trap (pun intended) draws that deactivate the bridge such as Visions and... Archive Trap. Humans seems to be the worst matchup where Bridge looks insane on paper but in practice they have a ton of ways to disrupt you and they don't search the library.
I'm going to try 1x Lightning Greaves in the version with 4x Endbringer. Looks promising vs Jace/BBE decks. Not sure if it belongs to the main deck because hyper aggro decks are still a thing, but the card looks fine to me as a 1-of.
How often do you side out Censors? I always seem to get rid of them in most matchups where I have to put in more than 3 cards from the sideboard. For example versus Mardu, I need both some Negates and some creatures (2 Torrential Gearhulk and Linvala, the Preserver) and there is no clear cut from the deck. After removing 1-2 Hieroglyphic Illumination and an Approach of the Second Sun, I start shaving Censors. I don't know if it's correct.
Also vs Energy they seem to be decent vs turn three Rogue Refiner or Whirler Virtuoso but I really need the other spells in my deck more (there aren't any bad cards in the main deck vs energy but you can't hope to resolve your Fumigates and Approaches with their Negates flying around so you need your own counters to have a chance).

It's probably commander chaff with 1-2 money cards thrown in for cash grabbing.

Maybe Crypt Incursion and Darkness in a more aggressive milling strategy are the way to go?
