Does anyone else LIKE the higher cost of legacy cards? Not gonna lie, I kinda enjoy that there is a price barrier to the format because I feel like it pairs me up with other people that I am more likely to enjoy socializing with. I mostly stopped going to type 2 and FNM events because half the crowd would be either lacking hygiene or young and often rude. However at legacy tournaments that subsection of players is much less present in my area. The other players tend to be responsible people with careers that still enjoy the hobby. They take the game seriously (cause who wants to spend $2000 to troll) but still have fun and understand sportsmanlike conduct.
Sorry if I sound really elite in this post. It isn't that I don't want the format to grow, but I do like that the price range of it tends to promote a more "adult" community.
I've made two orders from them so far. The first was after selling a bunch of cards at a GP for store credit, I ordered a bunch of cards for my cube. Everything went smoothly and I received the cards promptly.
My second order was for a single Survival of the Fittest, marked at M/NM. I received it today (shipping time was fine) but the card is definitely not what I would consider NM. The front looks ok with some small dings on one side but nothing major. However, the back has a very obvious large scratch in it along with a spot in the middle of the card that is faded out, looks kinda like it was hit with an eraser or something. It makes me a lot more hesitant to purchase online from them again as they appear to have a poor grading process.
One hit for Viridian, three hits for Shaman. The new replica card is a shaman so that leaves two hits, possible viridian shaman reprint. No zealot for sure
Thanks for making some good points. I still don't feel like the preorder value is correct on him (I could see 30 being around the right amount). It just feels odd to me that Venser is so much higher than Elspeth when he feels more restrictive. Being the next Gideon or Sarkhan both seem bad for people buying him at 50, as both those cards saw huge drops in value.
Obviously I don't expect SCG to drop his price since he is already selling out at 50, but I just wanted to see if other speculators felt he was overpriced at the moment.
Obviously the preorder market for sets is fairly volatile, but can anyone point out to me the reason Venser appears to be selling out at a fifty dollar price tag on sites like star city games? I understand that it is a new planeswalker which always leads to big initial hype, but I don't see the actual power in the card (whereas the new elspeth looks to be very strong to me, especially teamed up with ajani and proliferate). Am I missing something here, or is Venser going to be the next Time Reversal?
I'm surprised how much hate there is for the new sol ring art. I think it is fantastic, less wild and more sleek, like it is holding a hidden power. The star sitting inside the ring also looks pretty slick, I plan on cubing it right away.
Fauna Shaman is a tough example, as prices on it have been floating between 10-15 dollars so it all depends on how high your local players value it. If you know someone else looking for a shaman you might wanna trade a fetch for it knowing you can potentially get 15-18 dollars value out of it (maybe even two fetches if you are lucky)
There was a good article posted on SCG just this week about different types of traders and the things they value. If your main interest is in getting a valuable trade binder then it is usually in your best interest to offer everything in trade. If you are wanting to trade to complete playsets/build various decks then you will see slower growth in your trade binder, but also have more access to different decks. I don't trade very much in general, and tend to get attached to my cards (I hoard all my fetchlands/duals/legacy staples) and don't really tend to make money from trading, whereas I know other people who put everything in the binder and trade heavily making a decent amount of profit from it. On the flip side, that person doesn't always have the cards they need to play decks they want to play.
Basically the more you have to invest (IE the more cards you are willing to trade) the more potential profits involved.
Anyways, that is my take on it. O, and you brought Jace 2.0 to an FNM, which seems a little much.
Really? I can't imagine an FNM without JTMS. I would guess on average there are at least 20-40 being played weekly at my FNM. Sure it's a more expensive card, but FNM is supposed to be an introduction to tournament style magic, not a completely different meta-game with a separate ban list.
It would maybe be good to have a stickied thread somewhere that explains the itrader system, including stuff like have/want tags and the search engine and examining another traders reps. I know I had to do a decent bit of digging myself to learn about have and want tags at least.

Pretty sure your opponent cheated if you got your card names right. Fallen is pro-artifacts, can't be equipped.
Dunno why my quote is being dumb, but the cards are Grafted Exoskeleton and Tel-Jilad Fallen
