Card is great. Played a deck with 2x green fabricate two dude, 2x aviator, 2x blink, 1x aether tradewind, 1x decoction module, and just drag out the game till combo win.
Had a blast playing this. Decoction module is filthy in this deck. Never casted the gearhulk but had it casted against me, didn't do much as I had tons of artifact creatures.
Listening to Sam Black (who's currently doing very well at PT Theros), he made an interesting claim: "Dauntless Onslaught is better than every White Common except Wingsteed Rider".
He meant it as a compliment, but I'd have rated Dauntless Onslaught considerably higher than Rider.
So... how good is it really? Have I been overrating it?
At first I thought onslaught was easily better, but then after a few draft where my only cards of note were 2 wingsteeds backed up by 2 god's willings and a bunch of junky creatures and enchants, I found that every time I land a turn 3 rider or turn 4 with back up I won. So now I'm not so sure which is better.
I just lost to a player who seemingly was a good player, then the late game began. He's playing a solid U/G deck. He casts curse of the swine on my two creatures. He follows that up with hunt the hunter on his Centaur Battlemaster against my pig.... Wait. I'm playing U/B... Check that, this is game 1!
Next game, He opens up with a plains and a travelers amulet..... 4 turns later he casts Horizon Chimera. He attacks. I have Artisans of Forms in player. Cast Ordeal of Erobos on it, copy the Chimera, swing. Next turn he casts hunt the hunter again! Later he casts Wingsteed Rider.
So he main decks hunt the hunter and plays double blue, double white, double green.
Do I just shake my head and move on? I tried to communicate with him after the match and tell him hunt the hunter will fizzle against none green creatures, but he didn't respond.
Sorry, I'm just a little perplexed. Unless I am wrong on Hunt the Hunter.
I don't see what the problem is. Hunt the hunted is great against green with battlemaster, and he has swine to generate green dudes if opponent isn't playing green, so it's not like main decking is all that crazy. And on the double color costs, every card you mentioned was sick, so with a bit of fixing sometimes it's worth it just to roll the dice.
