I've moved in this direction since the pre-cons came out. I didn't like the format at first, but after playing a few rounds with the pre-cons, I loved it. The deck building restriction isn't really restricting at all since it's usually very unwise to splash colors only for a few niche cards anyways. The unique card meant diversity in decks rather than relying on four copies while still remaining competitive. The general doesn't bother me at all.
It might be the power level of your deck compared to your group, try to scale it back so you aren't piled or hated out every game. There are answers to Pithing Needle in your colors as well. Also check out other deck lists on this site for some great ideas and consider what your colors you like to play before even picking your general might be a better approach. Hell, even the SCD and MCD threats posted might spark a few ideas.
Has anyone considered Sword of Light and Shadow ? The protections are very good as white and black are the primary removal colors, and while the recursion is only to hand, it is repeatable and doesn't require a combo unlike Lark and Guide. The life gain can be useful, but is mostly unimpressive.
Average CMC: 3.95, kind of high.
Explanations:
Creatures:
Viscera Seer : Only costs B and is a free sacrifice outlet. The scrying can be useful.
Serra Ascendant : Ideally would be my opening hand every game. She gets me some much needed life early on while dishing out 6 early on, but her usefulness diminishes too much later on and garners much un needed hate. This card is on the chopping block.
Sakura tribe Elder : This card is value town, it gets me a land when I need it, and it might be a basic, but that's not too bad. Skullclamped gets me 2 cards.
Stoneforge Mystic : Only gets me Skullclamp, but it's well worth it. This card allows my creature tutors to effectively fetch Skullclamp.
Saffi Eriksdotter : Allows me to save a crucial creature when I need it and combos with Lark and Sun Ttian. Too bad she's human.
Fauna Shaman : I wish this was Survival of the Fittest so bad. Allows me to get any creature I want and feed Karador though, so much value.
Qasali Pridemage : Annoying enchantment and artifact removal on a stick. It passes both the lark and titan test and even has exalted to boot.
Yavimaya Elder : It guarantees my next two land drops and potentially 1-2 cards.
Fierce Empath : Gets me a 6+ cmc fatty and is clampable, sign me up!
Eternal Witness : Recurs any card I need to my hand and passes both the lark and titan test. It's even clampable for 2 cards after her job is done.
Necrotic Sliver: Repeatable Vindicate is so good, and it costs 3 to activate. It passes both titan and lark tests.
Fleshbag Marauder : Innocent Blood on a stick. It fails the lark test, but that's ok. My opponents sacrifice something good hopefully and I typically sacrifice this guy.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord : His restrictive cost keeps him from appearing too often, but when he does he makes a bang. His ability to sacrifice a guy and make everyone lose life is pretty sweet and his favorite dance partner is Kokusho, the evening star. The fact that he grows can be an emergency win condition or sacrificed to draw cards using Greater Good or gain life.
Linvala, keeper of silence : This is more of a meta call than anything else. I'm trying to tune this deck more to take on the general public rather than specific decks. At the best of times, she utterly shuts down decks, but she can be a 2WW 3/4 flying blocker at worst. She's on the chopping block.
Archon of Justice : Re useable exile removal and is a 4/4 flying blocker.
Sun Titan : He's a member of the titan cycle, gets back so many things, and a decent blocker/attacker.
Yosei, the Morning Star: The ability to reanimate him and force troublesome players to skip their untap phases is very sweet.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed : Undying enables so many sweeps and allows me to sacrifice creatures once without any sort of penalty. Also infinite combos with Woodfall Primus and a free sacrifice outlet. The fact that he grants so many things +1/+1 and the fact he has intimidate is just gravy.
Massacre Wurm : Token hate on a stick. The massive life loss is just gravy. His 3BBB makes him difficult to cast though.
Kokusho, the evening Star : The life swing on death is huge and he can be abused so easily even without going infinite. It's well worth the $20.
Avenger of Zendikar : The army in a can. One of my primary win cons and is seen in many green decks, and it's no surprise why. 5GG means he's not too hard to cast.
Angel of Despair : Vindicate on wings. I wish I had the actual spell too. >.<
Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter : After the suggestion of many players I've met, I've finally added this guy in and he's just bonkers. The ability to remove creatures is so good and even gets around indestructible as well. He rarely attacks, but when he does, 5 life a swing isn't too bad.
Sheoldred, Whispering One : Force my opponents to sacrifice a guy and I get a guy back every turn all day every day! 6/6 swampwalk is pretty relevant as well.
Woodfall Primus : Bramblecrush on a 6/6 trample body for 5GGG isn't too shabby, and persist just makes it golden. The fact that it combos with Mike is fantastic.
Iona, Shield of Emeria : She's a little too mean to mono color decks, but if I see an opportunity to win while using this, I'll take advantage.
Instants and Sorceries:
Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile : Standard white removal, the effects don't matter that much.
Entomb : B instant speed demonic tutor with Karador out, sign me up.
Reanimate : Gets me a creature from my yard for B and I take a rather insignificant hit thanks to the lifegain in the deck. It may be only once, but it's worth it.
Green Sun's Zenith : Putting a creature directly to play is pretty good, though the green restriction does kind of hurt.
Life from the loam: Replaced Buried Alive since it doesn't send a telegraph to my opponents what I'm going to reanimate, is cheaper, and will make more sense if I get fetches. The Dredge also helps more fatties in the yard.
Putrefy , Mortify, and Beast Within : removal in a pinch. The beast from beast within rarely matters.
Chord of Calling : Any creature I need at any time, though GGG really hurts. Versatility at a cost.
Kodama's reach and Cultivate : Basic ramp and they've served me well. I'm looking to replace these with creature based ramp though.
Momentous Fall : Gets me a nice helping of cards and life with burying a guy and allowing me to re use their ETB ability.
Terminus : A bit expensive for the effect. The miracle isn't even worth mentioning and the reason it's still here is merely for placeholder/the fact it gets around the hexproof six. I'm looking to cut this for another wipe that isn't ungodly expensive, *cough* Damnation *cough*.
Enchantments:
Animate dead : fetch a guy from any yard and for only two mana! The drawback rarely matters and it passes the titan test.
Aura Shards : Annoying artifacts and enchantments are getting blown up and it's optional.
Pattern of Rebirth : Replace utility creatures with something powerful. Problem is that the creature must die, so exiling it or tucking it really sucks.
Defense of the heart : This card is bonkers. The only drawback that it must survive until my upkeep.
Greater Good : Free sacrifice outlet that gets me cards and discards fatties for me. Great all in one card.
Skullclamp : It's so good that I put Stoneforge in here just to get this.
Birthing Pod : This card encourages an ascending curve in deck building. It's so good as it causes my creatures to leave the battlefield and get a free drop that costs +1 above it.
Land:
Command tower: Best land in the format overall. Thanks WOTC.
Barren moor and Tranquil Thicket: It gets me much needed cards, don't know if I should cut them or not. The reason I don't have the white one in this list is because I forgot to get one. These were originally Karoos.
Murmuring Bosk: The treefolk tribal land, even though it CIPT 95% of the time, it's still a great land as it produces all 3 colors. The pain is irrelevant.
Miren, the Moaning Well: I rarely see this on any list and it kind of puzzles me. The land may cost 3 to sacrifice, but it's well worth it and it recovers off the pain from the shocks.
Serra Ascendent to Deathrite Shaman or Scavenging Ooze: Could use the grave hate since I can't bounce Bog to my hand using the Karoos. It depends on which gets cheaper over time, my bet is on the ooze since it's a steam promo.
Linvala, keeper of silence to Restoration Angel or Angel of Serenity: Both allow me to re use ETB abilities, but both have their restrictions as Restoration can't interact with Karmic Guide and Serenity returns them to my hand. This is more of a wildcard slot, I'm open to more suggestions/opinions.
Kodama's reach and Cultivate to Nature's Lore and Farseek: They're one mana cheaper and basically do the same thing, the guaranteed second land drop doesn't do much when I'm stuck ramping on turn 3 and others start playing threats.
Unburial Rites to Beacon of Unrest or Sword of Light and Shadow: Both cards have their drawbacks with Beacon having to be found again to do any use. The sword is quite expensive, and does require me to connect with it to do anything. The 3 life is nice, but the recursion to my hand is what I need. The protections from white and black are very relevant as a lot of good removal stems from these colors. I've never seen the sword in any list, but then again most don't pack Stoneforge Mystic .
Average CMC: 3.95, kind of high for general play, but I'm looking for ideas to reduce the average cost without lowering the effectiveness of the deck. This average does not include the land.
Explanations:
Serra Ascendant: Has proven to be a reliable workhorse early game and gain an extra 12 life while everyone is getting settled. I'm looking to cut her though.
Linvala, keeper of silence: This is more of a metagame call rather than a general call, although it has saved me a few times, I'm looking for a replacement. I'm considering Restoration Angel when she rotates.
Green Sun's Zenith: The more tutors the better, and I don't have to recur this creature, but it's green only, which generally isn't a problem.
I feel like Liliana Vess is probably the worst now for multiplayer commander.
There have always been better tutors but you could argue that they were more expensive, or that sometimes you'd get multiple uses out of Vess.
Now we have Rune-Scarred Demon, which can be sacked/reanimated or bounced.
There's Increasing Ambition which guarantees multiple tutors if it doesn't get exiled.
And, then there's Diabolic Revelation which is way better late game.
All of which are going for like a buck while Vess is sitting at $7-9.
It just really doesn't make sense to play her anymore, especially when cards like Living Death are almost just as good as her ultimate and easier to use.
Except that you can just tutor Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
As said before, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary is really good here. Knowledge Exploitation is good too, and budget as well. Trade it for wrath/time warp/ramp spell, you should have what you want in every game.
I'm not a fan of Tamiyo here, it has a small effect while this deck wants crazy play. For example, I run Greater Good, this card is nuts, it allows you to draw a lot and eventually to sacrifice your Wanderer and recast it for two additionnal cascades.
Finally, I wonder what's your opinion about boots, are they really useful here ?
The hexproof really does help if you don't finish off your target and to prevent spot removal which my meta has quite a bit of. I probably should move Tamiyo to another deck though.

Solemn Simulacrum : I'm never sad to see this robot. The fact that he ramps and gets me a card minimum is excellent.
Acidic Slime : Destroys a problematic land, artifact, or enchanment and trades with a lot of creatures for 3GG. Diversity is in this card.
Revillark : The classic combo with Karmic Guide. Do I need to say anymore?
Karmic Guide : See above
Archon of Justice : Re useable exile removal and is a 4/4 flying blocker.

Wrath of god : Classic board wipe.
Unburial Rites : Recursion spell that's a bit more expensive than I'd like especially for only two uses. This is definitely on the chopping block.
Living Death : Both a wipe and a mass recursion spell in one, it can backfire big time though.
Austere Command: Very diverse board wipe.

Artifacts:
Sol Ring : The one and only.

Bojuka bog : Exiles an enemy yard for me.
Murmuring Bosk: The treefolk tribal land, even though it CIPT 95% of the time, it's still a great land as it produces all 3 colors. The pain is irrelevant.
Overgrown Tomb, Temple Garden, and Godless Shrine: The shocks.
Miren, the Moaning Well: I rarely see this on any list and it kind of puzzles me. The land may cost 3 to sacrifice, but it's well worth it and it recovers off the pain from the shocks.
High Market: Another land based sacrifice outlet.
Sunpetal Grove: the only check land I have.
Basics: always good to have.
Potential Cuts/Replacements with explanation:
Linvala, keeper of silence to Restoration Angel or Angel of Serenity: Both allow me to re use ETB abilities, but both have their restrictions as Restoration can't interact with Karmic Guide and Serenity returns them to my hand. This is more of a wildcard slot, I'm open to more suggestions/opinions.

Chord of Calling: Triple G might be a problem at times, but instant speed and any creature I need really make this card shine. My usual targets are: Rune-Scarred Demon, Karmic Guide, and Angel of Despair.
Defense of the Heart: This is more of a metagame call, I usually face token decks that are really removal light.
Leyline of sanctity: Graveyard removal protection and it's free potentially.
Signets : help fix the colors of my deck.
Miren, the moaning well:The card might cost 3 to activate, but it's a sac outlet and gives some life, which can be helpful.
Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks again MTGS!
This pretty sums up my experiences with him.
Urborg isn't a swamp until it etb.
The hexproof really does help if you don't finish off your target and to prevent spot removal which my meta has quite a bit of. I probably should move Tamiyo to another deck though.
Them: Garruk, Primal hunter
Wurmcoil engine.
I only play edh.
