Family: I'm 41, so I couldn't care less what they think. My two oldest boys have played in a couple of tournaments a couple years ago. My daughter and youngest son like the pictures.
Friends: All my friends play.
Girlfriend: Married and divorced. When I was married, I quit playing. When I got divorced, I amassed almost 100,000 cards at one point.
Co-Workers: I handle the eBay account of the company I work for, which sell stamps, postcards and advertising covers. I mentioned that I played it and they asked what it was. The next day, one of my co-workers said there was a box of 'magic cards' on my desk. I was like 'what? maybe my hoarder of a boss actually had some'. I got to my desk and found postcards with magicians on them...
Played from Revised to just before Urza Block because we "grew up". Came back right after Kamigawa block until Return to Ravnica because I haven't been able to keep up with the cost due to not working steadily. I may come back soon.
I'm fairly certain everyone knows what it means. The point is more that Wizards knows damn well many of their things will never sell for anywhere near MSRP. Most companies don't do that. Most products end up being driven well below MSRP, especially after a little while, as stores/websites/sellers compete. When Samsung releases a new TV with an MSRP of $700, you can end up finding it for $600 or $500 or whatever depending on the site, date, etc. (and never more than $700). Why suggest a price of $40 for an FTV that you know will never sell for less than $100+?
I'm not saying I care, but that's the point they're trying to make.
And you just reinforced the point that I was trying to make. Thanks!
I don't remember mine, but I remember my friend/roommate's first pull.
He bought a couple packs of Lorwyn because our LGS had the packs on sale. When we got home, he pulled Liliana Vess. He was so stoked he called the shop and told them about it.
How much would a bubble envelope costs and how much they charge around?
Dollar store has 2 packs of small bubble envelopes for $1.00 (go figure). Pay online through PayPal for postage, will cost you about $2.00 to $2.50 for postage.
My dad is 64 and my mom is 58...they are both dumb as rocks (okay, they have their own specific set of skills, but magic would be way beyond their comprehension).
I'm 40 (almost 41) and my kids have shown some interest, mainly my daughter because she likes all the animals
I have two favorite decks....Runeflare Trap and my homebrew Rite of Replication.
Runeflare Trap was fun because I loved seeing people lose during their draw step
Rite of Replication was just fun because if I got off a kicked Rite, it was almost always an instant win (because my opponent scooped) or on my next turn.
I built this originally with creatures, but found that you get more bang for your buck with tokens and Intangible Virtue fits the theme with Ethereal Armor and Sphere of Safety.
Sideboard is flexible with cards like Nevermore, Curse of Exhaustion, etc.
