Wait till the end of the month, a lot of fetch lands will amazingly cheap. Dual lands will still hurt, but the fetches are back down to earth. Broaden your horizon because burn is terrible.
Quick question involving the UW version. I notice a lot of these decks run 22-24 lands, but none of these builds use a stifle/wasteland combo? Is there any specific reason why? I'm just seeing available slots for stifle and wasteland to fit.
I have played the UW version in a couple of tournaments, going without Mishra's Factory, with 3 Wastelands and 2-3 Dazes, and it's been ok. I might try the Factories next time. Stifle is straight-up bad in this deck though.
Good to hear from first hand trials. I really want to run Daze in this deck. The surprise factor of daze in a blade shell seems fun.

This is definitely not true. RUG is not Stoneblade (and even that deck has some "bad" matchups, just not unwinnable). There are many decks that are highly favorable against RUG and some that just outright lock it out of the game (anything that aggressively attacks manabases).
I don't want to go too far off topic, but the list of decks that can waffle RUG are slim compared to most. Like posted below, oddity decks like POX, Lands, and DnT(recently DnT has some flavor) are favored against them. Not saying everything else is a easy win, but the deck is very resilient at any given time in most match ups. I agree, stoneblade gets face rolled by Jund or something similar. Every deck has its flops, but RUG IMO has the least. Plus RUG fits the OPs description to the T
Speculators still living in their mom's basements. Its smart though, they start buying up cards that have a high percentage use at a low price to the point they get hard to find. A perfect example is Stifle; the price has doubled in 2 months, and good luck finding foil ones that aren't the dumb promo either. Personally the Scourge foil one should sell higher; its stupid rare.
Edit: If your smart you'll start hoarding abrupt decays now since the card is widely used in every format!
Mastodon I have to disagree brother. TNN flat out kills me where as Geist I can stall and get around. Right now playing RUG I have no answer to TNN unless I counter it; once it hits the board I'm in trouble because I have no way to remove it. And once it comes in multiples which it does when my game gets stalled down and a jitte gets attached to it I'm 100% dead.
I played Thursday night in a 18 man tournament. First 3 rounds I had the worst possible matches... ANT, BURN, Manaless dredge... quick 0-3 (couldn't access any of my board, horrible draws even after muls), played BURN again in round 4 and barely won. There was about 10 stoneblade/delver variants and didn't get one of them. Oh well, it happens.. but was very discouraging. I switched to RUG in a very combo heavy meta and was having great success when jund wasn't working, figured I'd go back since the meta shifted and boy i got waffled lol
There's no question TNN killed Geist of Saint Traft. Its usefulness is now done; the fact it still sells for around $15 is a total sham. Geist is now a $5 bucket rare.
I don't play RUG, but I enjoy sideboarding against it, and I'm wondering how people who play it would rate their fear of Chalice of the Void and Relic of Progenitus.
Rest in Peace is worse for me than Relic. Chalice just sucks for RUG completely. But i've managed to keep it off me whenever it shows face. I also use 2 SB ancient grudges, are very handy for those and all the SFM decks that heavily rely on batterskull.

RUG is your answer. It can tangle with any deck, very proactive and its so damn good. Once you master RUG you don't have any bad matches. Period.

Manaless Dredge placed 31st in SCG Baltimore if that answers your question.
I'm currently testing a Trueblade-delver deck with stifles, i'll see how it plays out thursday night.
