Best to wait until the set gets spoiled on Friday to decide, as there are a lot of a ton of commons and mono-color cards left. However, Abzan feels like the strongest choice so far. Outlast seems very solid, having something to do with your mana when you otherwise would have nothing is very useful in limited, even if it requires tapping your creatures at sorcery speed. Level up was great in RoE, and so are cards like Scholar of Athreos.
I know wizards is trying to dumb the game down, but I don't think 4 mana wraths are gone for good. There will likely be one in Khans, though I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't.
Control will just have to evolve, or shift colors. Just glad to see Revelation gone.
What a surprise, for the millionth time, red is the worst color in a set. All bad removal, at least in Theros it had lightning strike. Few good creatures. Also, all of red's possible seeded pack rares (not the promo) are either overcosted, situational, or just weak.
Great now black can wreck you if you play bestow cards in standard.
This might be the best card in the set or in the block for limited, seeing as the format is all about sticking a threat and slapping a bunch of stuff on it. This killing all bestowed auras on its target is a huge blowout, and then there's even more blowout potential if you get to 7 mana.
Ajani is at about the power level that all planeswalkers should be. Niche and not oppressive. 5 cmc, gold, and no way to defend himself means he'll see limited play.
Sage of Hours is pretty bad, but I guess we can watch all the dumb speculators buy out Increasing Savagery now.
I hate rares like this, one that are highly annoying to play against in limited, and ones you hate opening outside of it because they just go in your jank rare pile.
Sure, it's rare because of limited, but what was the point in making this card at all? There is already a flyer in the same color with the same damn heroic ability. They seem to be getting lazier in their design, as evidenced by the multitude of "old card + scry 1" cards in the block, and cards like this and the previous white promo.
Sigh, I guess we will be getting trash rares as promos for every pre-release well into the foreseeable future. Bad enough they took away mythic promos for some bs 'makes them feel less special' excuse, but they have to give unplayable jank rares too.
I wonder how many people who open a god will try and force as close to a mono-color deck as possible to try and have a better chance to get to 5 devotion, even if it means playing subpar cards.
The gods still seem somewhat reasonable if you aren't at 5 devotion for the most part, but only if you're not under significant pressure. Against an aggro start, some of the gods are almost like 3-4 mana do-nothings, unless you had an aggro start yourself.
I imagine it's going to be very rare for someone to get to 5 devotion for a color before turn 6. Not a lot of CC early drops.
I like it, it looks awesome and has great flavour. Unfortunately being a 2/2 for 3 makes it bad as a maindeck choice, I can definitely see it in sideboards against Jund - blanks ALL removal AND kills Huntmaster without dying.
lol, Huntmaster kills him (as do bonfire and Olivia), not the other way around.
So this means MM will not just be modern-playable cards, but they'll also print modern-legal expensive commander cards that don't see play in modern. Either that, or wizards just has no clue.
The maze was really stupid, basically it rewarded the most popular guild. A huge amount of players went Orzhov and Golgari at my pr and they got through the maze.
Should have been based on win percentage or something, not total wins. The guild with the most people is just gonna win...
And the mana was just bad as OP said. I only got 1 on color gate and cluestone in my dmg packs, so my fixing was 3 gates and a stone. Every single game was basically just hoping you get good mana, often you'd have to keep hands missing a color, and basically the entire game hinged on the fact if you drew a source in time or not.
Awful PR imo.

This whole thing of cards that mention a planeswalker must be rare is nonsense.
