Aiche's foot gave distinct crack as his face contorted in pain. Shuffling back a step to put weight on his better foot, Aiche swung his hammer down for the big rock's chest.
Aiche twisted his body to the left as they landed hard on the ground to avoid the full weight of the Garr landing on him, and to try to gain an advantage once on the ground. As they impacted the floor, Aiche pushed hard to continue the rolling action and rise to his feet.
As the Garr launched himself forward, Aiche levered the head of the hammer up sharply to catch the incoming creature under the jaw while continuing to backpedal away.
Aiche planted a foot on the chain and hooked the hammer head around it, twisting and yanking while stepping away from the Garr, attempting to pull him off balance.
As the Garr stepped back, Aiche brought the hammer back down into a defensive position. He pushed the handle of the hammer in front of himself to try to block the chain and countered by stepping in and thrusting the head of the hammer towards the Garr's stony chest.
Aiche stared intently at the Garr, gripping the haft of his sledge tightly and circling around the huge foe looking for an opening. He feinted to the right with two quick steps to close distance, then pivoted on his forward foot and brought the head of his hammer up in a firm jab for the Garr's jaw.
Aiche threw himself to the left and landed on his knees with a thud, scrambling to rise, holster his gun and ready his sledge before the Garr could make another attack.
Aiche spoke coolly, willing his voice to not betray the uncertainty he felt about his first big showdown as he lowered the muzzle of his gun slightly.
"Watch who you're calling a dog. Them boys downstairs, maybe, but not me. What you did to start this's no business of mine, and I don't really care to find out, but I do care how this all ends. With you on the fl-"
The roar of Aiche's revolver cut him off midsentence as it sent a round hurtling toward the Garr's gun, with another behind it intended for the Garr's forehead.
As he finished reloading, Aiche brought his gun up and began to climb the stairs, keeping an eye on the landing above him and listening for anyone breaking loose from the fight behind him. He muttered under his breath.
Unnoticed for the moment, Aiche tried to make his way past the mob to the stairs after slinging his sledge back onto his back in favor of his revolver, which he reloaded as he moved, alert for any new threats.
