It depends on how much he considers his booster packs are worth. Pre-Releases are 6 packs. so at MSRP of $4 each X 6 = $24
Wizards provides 2 free boxes as prize support per day, in the case of Saturday and Sunday events.
Unless the owner is adding additional prize support above the two boxes per day, then yes, he's ripping you guys off. He shouldn't be charging additional packs into the prize pool if they were FREE from Wizards for holding the event.
I barely heard about Monster folders when I introduced Yugioh into my store. Many Mtg players wanted monster folders too as they saw what a great product it was. However, the fact that it cost between $25-35 was a turnoff. Anywho, I sell these for $20 at my store, and a lot of yugioh players are buying these now.
It took them long enough to come up with this product even though it's pretty much them copying Monster. Anywho, those old style ultra pro 9 pocket sleeves were worthless. The top 3 cards always fell out, and sometimes even were damaged if carried in a backpack. I remember as a kid, I started to not put anything into the top 3 pockets because of this. Thank god they finally are making something worth buying.
I graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice a couple years ago. If you're not interested, don't continue. I was kinda into it, and now I'm not into it. Basically, I kinda wasted the last 5 years of my life, as the degree doesn't translate into most jobs =/ So get out while you can =P
Awful? I could never get the old one to do anything lol, it was always broken or down. This one is so smooth, and shows all the locations easily =] Click on each shop, and bam!
An old buddy of mine had a GF who we used to play multiplayer EDH with, and it wasn't fun. I would get attacked by 3 people at once frequently. Usually, it's everyone versus me, and I don't complain about it. However, as soon as you would destroy anything of hers, it would be like "Why is everyone against me?!?!" =/
I own a store, so I'll tell you that Zendikar is the better choice in the long run.
There are fetchlands which will be good in standard, extended, legacy, and EDH. In addition, you still get fullart lands, which are worth money =] You'll see people ask for that for years to come. Lotus cobra's will always be good.
M11: most of those cards will not be reprinted (well, it cycles same time as ZEN), however, may will. It's so hard to roll a dice though. There are a LOT of chase cards in that expansion, but the full art land from zen just flips it over the top.
I had an 8 man draft in my store yesterday. I was going to sanction it, then thought, what's the point, no rewards. Everyone pretty much agreeed too. Pointless to sanction anything anymore as we don't care about points.

What is everyone's shop doing about this? Stores will be hurting pretty bad, and Harry Potter already did some damage last week.
Anyone got an idea to help shops deal with this?
