I resolved a Primal Surge and my opponent just conceded once I started revealing the deck and he asked if I had any other spells. As for dropping the red, you could always drop the red and replace the goblin with Akroma's Memorial. Has the same effect, and it's maindeck protection from bonfire and other red wrath effects (mutilate will still be a nightmare though).
I did consider Akroma's Memorial at first but then I made it the Goblin as I can use it as a combo piece in the event I draw it. But I totally forgot about it when thinking of changes I could make so thanks for that, I'll be testing it.
Simple concept, play elves, ramp, then proceed to generate a ton of mana using bell-ringers and restos and play Craterhoof or draw a ton of cards off Soul. The combo aspect is very fun since the bell-ringers and restos essentially become rituals and allow you to cast everything for free, pretty much. After playing with this I may be dropping red and going straight GW. T2 Domri is awesome, but it's not super reliable, and I actually never got the chance to cast the Surge so that and the Goblin may come out.
As someone who's been interested in trying this out for a while, I have a couple of questions -
Why is this better than we'll say Jund? Two similar styles of decks, but what is the advantage of playing this over that?
And why hasn't this topped anything before? Is there some hurdle that it has difficulty getting over? Is Jund just so popular that it's always the go-to?
What are your all's thoughts on the Guides? Buy or sell? It seemed to work for him to power out T2 Fulminators or as an extra mana to cycle Deadshot/Carabid but is it that worth it?
So I tried out a Naya humans build of my own in class which did well, 5-1 at my FNM, only loss being to a flood. I'm debating on taking it to the WMCQ in DC this weekend so I'd like some feedback.
Thatcher Revolt is pretty good. Synergy with Hamlet Captain and Mayor, pumps Champion, triggers Elite's battalion, and can make for some surprise damage on a swing back in races. Hamlet Captain - While very slightly on the slow side, his upside wasn't bad at all. He helps when you're on the defensive and is also another anthem when you attack with him. I mainly wanted to try him out with Thatcher Revolt and wasn't disappointed. Frontline Medic - what's everyone's opinions on him? Personally, I almost never liked to see him and he ended up being sided out more often than not. Why is he so revered in these lists? I must be missing something, can someone educate me? Boros Charm MB was a little underwhelming. I'll probably replace these with Selesnya Charms or Giant Growths.
That's odd, I got on at 9 and checked back every 10 minutes or so for your name but never saw it come up for me. I guess we have to try again tomorrow?
I apologise for being late; being honest, this tournament slipped my mind and I guess my opponent's too since he didn't contact me. So I got ahold of him, and we'll hopefully be playing tomorrow.
My opponent sent me a PM about a game on Friday but unfortunately I wasn't able to get on with short notice, but hasn't replied to my PM asking for times he can be on. Will try to get it resolved soon...
A sac-engine on a Human. Anyone else think this can make Human Reanimator viable as a T1 deck? Using Fiend Hunter, Angel and this card, you can make an infinite loop to either do infinite damage with Kessig Malcontents, gain infinite life and wolves with Huntmaster of the Fells, etc. Having to run a non-human sac engine made this combo tougher to achieve previously, but with this I feel like it's a lot easier and viable.
