In terms of Promo card, would you not think Master of Predicaments would be a better and wayyy more fun card? I personally think this would be a great promo, especially for the newer players to experience a fun and "powerful" card. I personally am choosing black simply because I want the promo for edh decks.
Incase it hasn't been mentioned, this card has HUGE combo potential. Now im not comparing him to the broken as hell Ghave, but he comes close. He has a neat combo with archangel of thune and soul warden and I'm sure you can think of a lot more. He's a machine gun with deathtouch and with renegade krasis well, it gets pretty big. all in all interesting take on a naya commander.
voltron edh? not sure if someone mentioned this before, if you did, you have good thinking. anyways, she makes people think whether attacking is a good idea or not, cant be blocked so the combination essentially hoses swarm and token ideas. its not virtually unkillable though, spell removal is a thing, kill spells tuck spells and so on, so thats not quite good. i dont get why it makes spirits though. it doesnt make any sense to me. what would they be used for in constructed? blocking? you dont really want to. attacking? in edh it would most likely be general damage focused. sacrifice synergy? you might not be able to ensure your opponent has an attack strategy or will attack you at all.
perhaps not a mainboard card, currently in standard say there isnt a lot of interaction with having not a lot of cards in hand other than maybe the new 2 drop, however its nice the idea of hosing decks like sphinxes revelation, bant zegana, control in general. 6/4 body is quite nice as well. in other formats, hellbent is a thing and considering im a topdeck master, I think this is a really nice card
loving the turn part of this card. I mean a red weird. comon thats awesome. regardless i think the cards kinda nice, i like how all fuse cards can be used together in a way, but i dont see the value of casting fuse cards for one effect... im not sure maybe im a value hunter. 5 mana to kill off a reckoner or a thragtusk profitably (as they suggested) is for me pushing it a bit.
Im really hyped over lavinia as a general or just one of the 99. Her effect shuts down most mana rocks, which are a huge part of edh, top, equipments i think? mana elves, activate abilities dudes like rhys... the list goes on. Sure maybe it doesnt shut down a huge beater but thats what the rest of the deck is for. It can be a devastating general in a blink/187 deck. im not too experienced in EDH but i think it might draw some hate though.
Because its a 1/4 with protection from creatures that can ALSO generate a huge army of fliers for you? Spirit Mantle alone is +1/+1 and pro creature, then you add a body to it AND army flying generation for one swamp. A bit under costed.
that army can come at a cost... by the time teysa comes out, if its a plan to get it out, you've probably taken some damage. Im not sure whether taking damage is really an option at that point, so the effect is a bit overcosted. See what you mean though, the spirit mantle is nice. Just the effect i see is the main interest, but it comes onto the battlefield a bit too late.
they're kinda cute, enter the battlefield effect is nice, however its quite reliant on the dragonmaze pack and i dont know how many gates will be picked up, it might really limit the versatility of a deck. Think either you pick up a few of these or not at all. We havent seen a lot of dragon's maze yet but i think theres going to be a lot of gate interaction, not sure how much of it will be great
I was quite excited by the new teysa, but this is quite a big disappointment for me. It might even deter me from going orzhov for the prerelease. However working with what we have, i could see it in a pillow fort deck, semi casual, with isperia or maybe vraska's +1. splash in some red for the curse?
