Karn is pretty bad. I ran into him against valakut. Probed him on turn 1, played around him so hard he barely accomplished anything.

I traded the one i opened for a Hex Parasite. I figure if i can only have one or the other, right now i'd rather have the parasite!

I'll be getting a playset of these SOON though
Also, tumble magnet just took a serious hit in this expansion. I no longer feel safe behind a gaggle of them.

I don't know how often I'd want to put myself on a 6 turn clock on turn 5 just to win harder. I mean, 6 turns is enough time for cawblade to win, but Jin Gitaxis sure doesn't speed up SOWAP. I could definintely see testing this out to see how often it backfires.

Not sure about the mana cost. Seems potentially broken in certain formats. Also thought about making it mythic. The potential power is high enough to make it mythic, but the nature of its effect isn't very grandiose or exciting. I guess it depends if the design intent is to make the card playable, or to make it just exist.

Initially i felt like it should be blue, but blue doesn't often interact with the Exile zone, whereas white does a lot, and the nature of the effect worked perfectly with the name, and it's a very white sounding name.

Under what circumstances if my opponent allowed to cut my deck, aside from when i clearly shuffle my deck? I had an opponent who kept doing it (I think he even shuffled it once) whenever i would so much as touch my deck. Even after i straighted it back out after he cut it the first time. He picked it back up and cut it again, setting it down. I gave him an indignant look, and straightened it back out. He did this a few more times during the match, and it felt wrong to me that he could just up and cut my deck whenever he felt like it.

Is this acceptable? It seems like such a thing could easily be employed to cheat, say, after a fateseal or after they brainstorm with jace. If I put the cards back down uneven after i brainstorm, and then pick up my deck to move it and straighten the cards out, my opponent can just cut what i put onto the top to mid deck? I desperately want to call this guy on this the next time it happens.

Tl;Dr - Opponent kept cutting my deck whenever i would so much as touch it. Is this legal?

I deduced that by not basing my presumptions on what I *want* to be in the set and not being oblivious to the obvious. I knew Jace2 wouldn't be reprinted when it was spoiled for WWK. I knew they wouldn't print new versions of walkers in the core set because they simply won't do that, and if they did - they'd ALREADY be plugging that fact.

Also, calling someone dumb without providing even half a reason why is...well, defined by your post?

I feel sorry for anyone who thought that Jace was going to get Banned *OR Reprinted. There was never the slightest chance that either of those things was going to happen.

Edit: And for people who thought we were getting new versions in M12 of Gideon, Sorin, Chandra, or Garruk, i just think you're dumb? An exception for anyone new-ish to the game goes there, however, which probably excludes 90% of the people who thought that.

I think even with the PW Hate this list has potential. We just need to play around parasite. Venser is still great here. He carries early game defense like Tumble Magnet and Contagion Clasp into the late game. I'm thinking of running a 3rd. I am also considering dumping the chalices and preordains and putting that new 1CMC-Only Counterspell in to deal with PArasite.

Plus it still seems like BSA in the side is a good play, since they will be boarding out most of their creature removal in G2. Losing Colonnade post-rotation will be hard on this deck, but PW Power is still substantial, but it's losing JTMS and Wall.

Only Jace to dig with, no hard counters to carry into late game, and the only win con is Archive Trap and Sad Sac with no other way of getting them? Sorry bud, but probably lose. It could probably win at an FNM. If you wanna be silly, splash R for Pyro Ascension!

Short answer: Pro level: super boring. FNM level - so many playable cards = so many awesome weird decks and awesome weird upsets.

Here its for landfall and for "all in" style decks, there's no reason not to fetch as much as possible, despite the math. Drawing even 1 spell instead of land is valuable to speed aggro decks.

If youre claiming that first strike only applies to blocked or blocking creatures, then by your logic, nobody would ever block a first strike creature, since it wouldn't deal damage to a player. This is not a rule, nor has it ever been. This is something you decided for yourself was the case, which does not make it a rule. Your friend was right.

This whole thread is bunk. The Praetors aren't going to warp the meta, at least based on the ones already spoiled.

i get people's arguments about Gideon, but 1x Venser is far from bad tech. 1 of them usually assures you don't get him before you want him, and him coming down later in the game is a powerful move. Everything he does screams BREAK THE LATE GAME.

There is also something to be said for running tech the Meta is unprepared for. Just for fun last friday i slipped a single Chandra Nalaar into my Valakut deck. Against control she was great. Cawblade would essentially ignore me until they knew i could hit 6 mana, so my opponent tapped out on his turn 5 (He was on the play), end of turn i bolted his Mystic, wheels to me, i untap, play a mountain, and play chandra against his empty board. His jaw dropped. Next turn i pyroclasm'd his bird, then slagstormed the next turn, then hit Chandra's ultimate and he never had a chance to recover. Then i trapped into a Terastodon and he scooped.

Cards like Chandra are things you can 1x of and completely throw people's games off. Tier 1 Standard decks are designed to combat Tier 1 Standard decks. At a place like FNM, you can throw 1 or 2 of something unexpected (Iona was a favorite of mine and she never let me down) into your deck, and it can singulary wreck shop.

Venser is a +1 to this because he's SO powerful in breaking the late game, and he could end the game when he hits and if he's not answered quickly, he gives you an advantage your opponent can rarely deal with. Seems worth a 1-of to me.

The meta will adapt to use them. They might not be the grand focus of the deck, but they'll still be in there. They are too powerful to not use.

Well they printed 3 cycles of two-color lands in Zen (Refuges, Fetches, and Manlands), so it's possible, but Land Matters in that block.
