The first thing I thought of when I saw this art was Dovescape... You have the big swirl of magic and a bunch of birds flying out of it. I really hope it isn't that. It doesn't look like a spell killing lots of creatures or flyers, though, as the birds don't seem to be getting drawn into it, or fearful of it. Unless there is a spell I cannot think of that makes loads of birds. Maybe Desert Twister?
It would be nice to see Vindicate, even though that only destroys one thing.
Well, it's been ages, as in several years, but I have another card idea and figure I may as well just use the old thread.
The Gorgon Sisters 6BBB
Legendary Creature - Gorgon
When The Gorgon Sisters enters the battlefield, if you didn't cast it from your hand, you lose the game.
Trample
The Gorgon Sisters’ power cannot become higher or lower than 3.
Whenever The Gorgon Sisters deals combat damage to a creature, destroy that creature. It can't be regenerated. Put a 0/X colorless statue artifact creature token with defender into play, where X is that creature's toughness.
Whenever The Gorgon Sisters deals combat damage to a player, that player loses the game. Put a 0/X colorless statue artifact creature token with defender into play, where X is that player's health.
3/6
What with all the Greek mythology running around, and stumbling across an old copy of Phage the other day, this seemed like such a natural extension of the Gorgon's kill stuff abilities they have recently been given. The power and toughness refer to the original gorgon sisters being a trio, in this case each of them effectively being a 1/2, but they work in tandem. This makes for a bit of fun if multiple creatures block. Each of the sisters can turn soemething to stone.
Better wording of the abilities?

Cause biology and physics are completely the same thing as they're both sciences, like how apples and oranges are the same thing since they're both fruit.[/sarcasm] Also while most of the Izzet were mad scientest the same can't be said for the Simic.
To be fair, the Simic were more mad scientists, what with the world domination through giant ooze and the constant creation unnatural abominations. The Izzet were more "absent minded" Doc Brown types (from back to the Future), having crazy "what if" ideas and flitting from one thing to the next with no apparent logic, all the while making perfect sense to someone as creatively analytic as themselves.
Obligatory Custom Card Design Based on New Set Mechanic!
Simple enough designs that I hope we see something similar to in the coming sets:
Dark Queen 2B
Creature - Human Cleric
Hexproof
2BBB: Transform ~.
1/1
///
Unleashed Inner Beast (Red)
Creature - Dragon
Flying, trample, hexproof
At the begining of each end step you may pay 2R. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on ~. If you do not, remove all +1/+1 counters from ~, tap it, and transform it.
6/6
And a Frankenstein Monster idea:
Corpse Pile U
Creature - Human
Defender
2U: Transform ~.
0/3
///
Herold's Monster (UB)
Creature - Zombie
At the beginning of your upkeep pay BBB or transform ~.
5/5
Ok, so explanations: The Dark Queen is based off of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty; the best horror dragon I could think of. The hexproof is there as dragons are resistant to magic, and she keeps feeding her desperation and anger into the spell to keep the dragon going.
The Frankenstein Monster creature is pretty simple, the idea is you start with a crappy pile of junk and pump reanimating magic into it to keep it alive. I didn't bother with any abilities as its late, I may add some later, but the idea of the Blue zombie is still percolating for now. I am thinking something that feeds off of the graveyard and ties into the idea that the monster just wants friends... I wanted to just get the basic idea out there now, though.
Kind annoyed that they put a dragon in. It's not a bad card, but not exactly what I would call horror type creature.
Dragons aren't your usual horror trope now, but they used to be back in the days when many horror stories are now set. Look at Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. That is a horror dragon, the angry person transforms themselves into a raging monster. I even hope we get a flip card like that. That would even make a beastly planeswalker. We need more horror dragons!
Isn't that weird... I count 12 (minus Garruk) Red and Green cards that Transform, yet I only count 2 Red cards and 3 Green cards that have been revealed as Werewolves...
Isn't that weird.
I guess my time machine to the future is just on the fritz again.
Unless anything has been said confirming that ALL Green and/or Red Transform cards are going to be Werewolves (which, I'm not saying they won't be), we aren't sure what they will be. Considering that there are only 3 Blue Transform cards and all three transform differently and behave very differently from each other, it's not illogical to believe that there could be 1 or 2 Red/Green cards that aren't Werewolves.
Either way, if the two images we've seen of Garruk are his two walker images, they very heavily failed on making it a big enough difference between the two.
The poster you quoted did forget to mention that it has been confirmed that all werewolves are flip cards. Since all werewolves are flip cards; and there are 13 werewolves, all in red or green; and there are 13 red or green flip cards including Garruk; then Garruk is a werewolf.
It was also confirmed outright that all red or green flip cards are werewolves; I believe it was in MaRo's article on Monday.
OMG! Magic is so stupid and unoriginal! It is just copying Bram Stoker and Marryat! Can't they find original creatures that haven't been depicted in mythology and literature for hundreds of years!
All joking aside, I love the flavor. Its sad that this game, which appeals to many intelligent people, seems so infected with the same shallow, self centered youth that seem to not understand that there existed a world before they were born; that things and ideas of value could have existed before them.
Ok, that rant is over. Magic seems to have cut to the heart of the horror genre and have found a very good representation of vampires, werewolves, and even specific characters like the invisible man and Dr. Jekyll. I mean, it would have been nice if those characters were legends, or something, but they did a very good job. The art, too is gorgeous, though I haven't seen anything from Guay or the other more "ethereal" artists who would fit this setting like a glove for some very creepy art. Juxtaposing the soft styles with horrible murder, or just very nasty spirits would be neat. Hopefully they are yet to come!
Just throwing this out there since this seems to be tied to the Josh Brauer guy from the weird video:
Civilized Scholar (Homicidal Brute) Making Magic Blue
Daybreak Ranger (Nightfall Predator) Innistrad Mechanics Green
Travel Preparations Josh Brauer Green

Sulfur Falls Magic: The Gathering Facebook Page Land
This is the list from the Innistrad visual spoiler on MagicTheGathering.com. Notice that Josh Brauer is listed as the official spoiler of Travel Preparations. I am guessing this puts the nail in the coffin on the debate of whether the video is from WotC or not. Only official spoilers are put on the visual page.

I love this mechanic, so chalk up another vote in favor of Double Faced Cards! This is so much more elegant than flip cards were. I realize there are weird hurdles, and that looking at a check list card isn't as nice in hand as the real thing, but you can make real cards that have two distinct states and more fleshed out mechanics, unlike flip cards.
I also have to give a shout out to moon mist. Werewolves should be unpredictable, they are by nature anyway, but this allows werewolves to lay the beat down out of nowhere, at least in casual. Which suites me just fine!
I think saying that the implementation is horrible kind of misses the point. It seems to me that the whole mechanic was designed around the implementation, not the other way round. Someone just said "Right, we're making double-sided cards", and then they had to figure out how to do so without ruining everything.
Actually, the implementation coming from the flavor makes more sense. Horror is chock full of things that change and transform. I can see the two sided cards coming from that theme. The day night is weird considering not all of them seem to be day/night themed transformations, but they idea that all day night cards have the same trigger is a very nice touch.
Do we have any word on Zul Ashur, Lich Lord? Is this a character that is from DotP 2012? If not I am going to speculate that this will be a character seen in Innistrad. This is, as far as I've seen (I read all the flavor text, but don't have hard numbers), the most quoted, non-planeswalker, character in M12. Any thoughts?
So, blue can get a 0/4 for U without defender. White loves little blockers as does blue, so adding defender it seems you could add one toughness and a little versatility.
It also seems to me that mechanics like hybrid should be treated like gold. Have the occasional hybrid card that makes sense instead of having to make hybrid major set or block themes and shoehorn cards in. Hybrid works best that way as you can make the little useful cards that two colors both want and keep space open in the set by giving it to both.
It would be nice to see Vindicate, even though that only destroys one thing.
