MTG Salvation

I was wondering what everyone thought of this list. I took the RG Elspeth list from the block pro tour, the current g/r monsters list, and some brews ive seen pros post to come up with this. Any suggestions? mana base look good? Are course and rabblemaster together okay? oh and should it run stoke or polukranos?

I got 9th at the premiere iq in st louis. Got screwed on breakers due to my early draw and loss. Was the only 16 pointer that didnt make the cut. Here is my list and what i played against:



Round 1: 1-1-1 RUG Scapeshift
Round 2: 1-2 UW Control
Round 3: 2-1 Junk Midrange
Round 4: 2-0 Birthing Pod
Round 5: 2-1 UR Twin
Round 6: 2-1 B/G Midrange
Round 7: 2-0 Birthing Pod

All of my matchups were very good. Twin and the mirror is 50/50 but the rest were more like 70/30. Lost in round 2 due to a mulligan to 4 game 1. Then he had leyline game 3.

with having search for tomorrow and tribe elder to go get basic islands, i could see people playing foothills over misty. would i do it? no. i still think misty is the best.

with 4 Cryptics you want your fetches to be able to grab Blue. I doubt you'd use Wooded Foothills in the Cryptic versions. Maybe in the Primeval Titan versions. I can't see it changing the meta more beyond making Blue Moon and Burn slightly worse.

Wooded foothills can still go get steam vents or breeding pool...

So one of the shops I go to is having a "pro tour mirror" where we watch the live stream and play block, draft, block and it sounds really fun. I play control in standard and already have most of the cards. I had a few questions though and since mtgo is where block is mostly played, and since journey lists havent come back from mtgogoldfish yet, i've not seen lists with the new cards. Here is my deck:



Do I want 2 Banishing Light and 4 Gild or 2 Gild and 4 Banishing Light? Light seems more powerful but gild lets me ramp into Elspeth a turn sooner. Also, there is much more enchantment removal out there but I know my curve has lots of 3cmc cards already. This makes me think I dont want Read the Bones. I have Divination and 12 scry lands. I dont think I want mana confluence.

Thoughts and opinions?

So with Banishing Light coming out soon, what spot do you guys see this filling in UW control decks? I wouldn't mind 2 of it along with my 4 spheres. My thoughts are that Divination will be the first to go. For reference, my list looks like this:




Here I feel i want my suite of counterspells. And Last Breath hits Mutavault and is a 2 drop rather than 3. Divination is good but i'd rather be using charms and 3 drop removal spells to disrupt my opponent and keep the tempo in my favor until i can drop a huge rev or win condition. Light also hits opposing spheres.

Also, i plan on replacing revoke with deicide. Anyways, what do you guys think?

Is splinter twin just better than this deck? Seems like it uses almost all of the same cards but has a better wincon.

Still have no clue how to board...

Oh i also play against affinity. is hurkyl's recall good there?

Idareb- My met is mostly uwr control, pod, tokens, and living end. but i'd like a versatile sideboard thatd be good for everything. like if i were to go to a gp

I dont have a sideboard yet. I like Spellskite, Hurkyl's Recall, Relic of Progenitus, Spell Snare, Spell Pierce, and Dispel for the sideboard but have no clue as to what combination of them or what other spells i might need. Also, i'd like to know how to sideboard in my matchups.

I play u/r delver in modern and can borrow force of will, fetches, and duals.

If you had the chance to play u/r delver or rug delver would you play it over burn?
