I'm assuming that Obzedat, Ghost Council functions much the same with with Goryo's Vengeance as it does with Whip of Erebos where you can stack the triggers and keep Obzedat coming back for more by exiling him at end of turn with his own ability while Goryo's Vengeance is on the stack? Please correct me if this is wrong, thanks!

I am not supprised that Chandra M14 is rocking the house. I said it was good! The quest is how good? How many copies are run main board?
@knto, The gods do nothing the turn you play them except Erebos, Nylea, and Heliod. The issue is that they only give iffy team or control support. Loss of Tempo on turn 3-4 if you ask me. Chandar can at least give you a draw or ping something the turn you play it.
If you're running out Chandra on turn 4 the 'draw' you get won't be able to be cast as you'll have no mana. If you're running it out onto an empty board then I'd rather have a god than the 1 life ping.

on paper a 4/4 uncounterable with that abbility for 3 mana is not good enough? oO
Doesn't matter if its good enough on paper, its good enough on my side of the board. This card will see an increase in play in standard, and after the results of GP Detroit in September if BG midrange decks prove to be a thing will see increased play in modern as well.

True, but that chatter is more about the Onslaught fetchlands than the Zendikar ones. Regardless, it's still very implausible that RnD would want shocks and fetches in the same Standard environment, even if it is only for three months.
They did give us Rancor in the same standard environment as infect even though it was only for 3 months. That span of time seems okay for them to really push the power level of things at the end of an environment.

My friend bought a box of Japanese Rise of the Eldrazi at Gencon over the weekend, and pulled a foil Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. Consulting eBay and other mtg shops has yielded no comparisons for pricing it out, any ideas what this is worth? I would assume it's easily $1000 or more.
There was a Mark Tedin signed and altered one that went for $399 BIN back at the end of June, so I would assume that your assumption is way way too high. Probably closer to $400-$500.

I've never understood purchasing the game day playmats, if you didn't win it then don't use it. It's a little different with GP mats as they don't say champion on them.

Oh please.. SCG will just post soldout, but in reality, they are either:
1. Just posting it as soldout, but in reality, they just hold on to the cards, hoping that the current market will follow.
2. Sell all the card stock at 20usd, increase the price to 25usd, then post sold out. (So that people will think that SCG sold it out at 25usd
Please.
Its not necessarily that they want people to think they sold out at $25, its that they sold out at whatever the price was at prior, raised their buy price to acquire more stock, and raised their selling price to maintain their margins over their new buy price.
I'm really not sure why people come up with these crazy theories about SCG's pricing and its not always them 'manipulating' the market, sometimes they're the followers.

I know that legacy doesn't have to be accessible to people, and to a similar extent neither does any constructed format.
It's just a little annoying to see cards shoot up out of my price range with no warning.
No warning? Wasteland goes up periodically and has done so for the last few years, it has also dropped a little in between increases but with any legacy staple the warning 'legacy staple' should tell you not to doddle around and just pick it up now if you want to play with it at some point.

Speedgrapher brought up an excellent point....would I be a fool for trading in a high valued card that's on the reserved list for some expensive cards that might get reprinted in the future? Obviously Tundras will hold value. But stuff like tarmagoyf and Dark Confidant? Scalding Tarn?
Bob and Goyf just saw reprints in Modern Masters, they won't be printed again any time soon, but Tundras will never be reprinted so take that for what it's worth. Buying or trading for anything not on the reserved list will always carry the possibility that it may be reprinted at any time.

It looks like you have 4 tundras in MP (moderate play condition) If you were to trade them you'd get $90-$100 each. If you were to sell them probably less.
That seems like a really poor monetary decision as these are reserved listed cards for cards that will be reprinted. I'd ask for some kind of premium deal. To the person you are trading them to. You could do the low price on all of their cards and the medium price on your cards. Or you could do their cards at 80% of low listed value.
That's a pretty steep cut on the other person's cards. If I were the one trading away the modern staples and you tried to get that kind of deal I would tell you to go sell your cards for cash and see if you could get enough to buy the cards you wanted to trade for. Chances are the answer is no. It's easier to get close to full value for things like fetches and Bobs than it is for MP duals.

first modern masters boxes are $300+ and now this... this game is just getting too expensive.
You don't need to buy FTV or MMA boosters to play this game.

The right time to buy fetch lands is always right now, I doubt they will be reprinted in the next year or two and will only continue to go up in price. Obzedat is at a low point right now, and Blood Baron still has room to go down. Aether Vial will drop a couple of dollars still as will Varolz. Mutavault on the other hand could see a price increase if Slivers becomes a thing in standard.

Perhaps Thoughtseize will see print in FTV 20 or perhaps as a judge promo. I love how the release of Modern Masters and what wasn't in it means that it needs to be printed this year. WotC does not need to reprint all of the modern staples if they don't want to and they certainly don't need to print them all this year. They can space things out, its not like Thoughtseize is required to play tournament level Magic.

If there's no 5-color mythic Sliver in the core set for the 20th anniversary somebody really dropped the ball here. I suppose there's a chance there could be an artifact mythic Sliver with a 5 color activation or something, but if it's just some durdly red or blue spell....blech.
