Its sad how little action this thread is getting, even after Elves win an SCG Open. A really unconventional list too. He was playing 4 Blood Moons out of the SB which I actually love, but the rest of the list I am really questioning. What do you guys think?
I myself don't like how he is only running 2 sentinel and 2 heritage in his list. As for the land count being 15, I play 15 lands as well, but for him, 2 of them are dryad arbors, which should not be counted as lands but as creatures. I've noticed elves only needs 10 lands to work efficiently, but so you don't have to muligan often for lands, 15 is the right amount to run. Still unsure if I'd make it 13 lands + 2 arbor though. The rest of the list acts like a toolbox, which is one thing I love about this deck.
Yeah I agree on the Druids and sentinels. Seems sketchy at best. I also gate the gitaxian probes. It almost makes zero sense. Would you just rather have more dudes? And just the one of craterhoof feels iffy.
I think the list that I will be working on will start like this:
4 Commune with Gods
4 Satyr Wayfinder
4 Courser Kruphix
4 Sylvan Caryatid
4 Night Howler
4 Nemesis of Mortals
4 Heros Downfall
2 Sulai Charm
2 Sidisi, Brood Tyrant
2 Empty the Pits
The problem with Delve is that you dont want too many delve spells otherwise they dont work well together. Just a thought. This is a starting point for me. Mostly a core for a list. Obviously there is no way in making a full list yet but I like where its going.
What do you guys think>?

this, minus nighthowler, is a nonbo wit the rest of the deck. nemesis it's ok because you need stuff to be in the yard just when you cast it/activate it. for nighthowler to be relevant you want stuff to stay in the yard all the time.
don't forget a couple of empty the pits!
plus you're playing blue for sidsi and the other sultai's stuff, so how about a couple of jace, the living guildpact (his +1 is very useful) and possibly a couple of counters too.
How is Nighthowler a nonbo? Its exactly what this kind of deck wants. You have to remember when you delve you can remove instances, sorcerys, and lands. It doesnt have to be creatures. Most of the time he is going to be a 3cmc 5/5 at least.
So happy. Playing at FNM yesterday, sad cause I got a bye. During that bye, ran into a Vintage Player, look into his collection, and what do I find? 3 Glimpse of Natures, another Craterhoof, and a Progenitus. Needless to say I traded with him and now I only require 1 more Glimpse of Nature and 3 NO and the list is complete. If I may ask, I see many lists running 3 NOs. Does they deck not want 4? Does the deck only want 1 in its hand at any time or that?
I have seen lists do both. You dont want NO against a deck that has lots of counter spells for obvious reasons, but you definitely want to see it often against the more fair decks. I personally play four.
I feel like it might see some fringe play in the Modern UWR Control lists to give it a little more reach. Plus they usually win the game by burning their opponent out with bolts, helixs, electrolyzes, and snapcasters. This will just add to the plan.
Hey guys. I'm planning on getting this deck together and plan on playing swan songs in the sb. I was just wondering if we could go through a sb plan for only the top decks mostly. It seems hard to make cuts with such a streamlined deck. Anything you guys can suggest will help a lot. Looked on the primer but it appears it's still under construction.
You want Revoker vs pod? Mindcensor is better. Revoker is only really good mb vs affinity. And that was enought for me for a long time. Not anymore.
Revoker is also very good main vs Jund, and Twin. Being able to shut down Liliana, and Scavenging Ooze is huge, also against Twin just full out shutting down the whole combo. Revoker is just as good as Mindcensor vs pod. If you happen to have both you just start naming other pod card like ooze, mana dorks, pridemage, kiki jiki, vicara seeker, ect. Its just another way to tax your opponent. Which is the whole point to this deck right?
The problem with Revoker (and Meddling Mage to some extent) is that you might not know what to name G1, and if they block out important cards, they are too easy to remove. I know this sounds like "dies to removal", so if you don't trust me, trust the previous 350-ish pages of thread where everyone played Revoker, then gradually moved away from Revoker and nobody regretted it. Pithing Needle and Mage out of the SB should be cool.
Be very careful with those Glacial Fortresses, my testing shows that they come into play tapped way too often, which completely screws up your early game. If you start off with just a buddy land a Quarter/Edge in your starting hand, do you wanna skip your Vial or your turn two hatebear? Tempo is very important, so that dilemma costs games.
And for the love of god, try Blade Splicer out properly beore you dismiss it. It looks dull, but it's one of the best cards in the deck.
Edit: If you do test Clique properly, please report back to us. It looks so good, but hasn't really been tested extensively afaik.
I wasn't trying to dismiss blade splicer, I'm sure she is a beast. I just wanted to try out revokers and the meddling mages. You say you don't know what to name with those cards but in the first couple turns you should have a pretty good idea of you opponent is playing, but I have also thought about this and my first list played gitaxian probes in the spot of vapor snag. I prefer snag though.
Why doesn't any list play Phyrexian Revoker in the main or even in the sb. Seems like every top tier deck has a good target for it? Just wondering. Seems like it could be a good fit.
My buddy and I have a modern BUG list that was doing really well actually. It played a lot like jund. The only blue cards we are playing is Snapcaster, Vendilion Clique, Creeping Tarpit, Countersquall, Ashiok, and some SB cards. It tends to have a pretty good matchup vs jund, if ashiok is unanswered. I like the list a lot.
