So i'm attacking with Aurelia, the Warleader then my opponent casts Azorius Charm on her.. do i still get an additional combat Phase? i would assume so since she has been declared as an attacker right? how does this work?
Sideboard so you have the most aggressive deck possible, so that if they waste a turn casting Rakdos's Return, then they're going to die from your creatures instead. They'll have to play defensively, casting removal or creatures to block with. Naya has superior creatures to Jund, they have better removal.
You simply have to out-value Jund with your creatures
If you can resolve a Restoration Angel targeting a Huntmaster or Thragtusk, you're going to win just on the basis of board superiority unless they get lucky and topdeck a bonfire before you kill them
Loxodon Smiter and Restoration Angel are you trump cards.
Side in Garruk PH for card draw. If you can cast him while you have a Thragtusk or Loxodon Smiter in play, -3 him immediately. 4 cards (which in this deck, could well be very big threats) is too much for most decks to come back from.
I totally agree with you on playing aggressive. however i have already ditched Loxodon smiter for Boros reckoner. here is what i'm currently running:
I have been playing Naya Midrange for a few weeks now and it has been wiining a lot of games except when i go agaisnt Jund Midrange. the most problematic to me is Rakdos Return followed by Olivia Voldaren. Every time they cast Rakdos Return and leave you with no cards its pretty much game.. im thinking of using Nevermore or witchbane Orb just to deal with this card.. any suggestions?
So i have Domri rade in play with 5 counters. my opponent decides to hit it with boros charm. i respond with boros charm making my permanents indestructable. does my Domri take 4 damage and get 1 counter left or does it not take any damage?
I tried to search the forum but didn't find anything related to this so here goes.
Does Clan Defiance let me target a flying creature, Non Flying creature, and the opponent? or just a flying Creature or a non flying creature and the Opponent?
What if i wait for him to cast restoration angel and then cast blustersquall? although in this scenario if he doesnt cast anything and declare blockers i can't cast blustersquall anymore right?
i just have a question on attacking ang blocking phases. so lets say my opponent has 3 creatures and i have the same number, he has 4 untapped mana and i have the same. i declared attacking with all my creatures.
Here is the tricky part for me..
i have blustersquall in my hand, and i intend to use it to tap all his creatures so that all my attackers can connect. but the problem is if i cast blustersquall before i attack then he flashes restosation Angel he would be able to block one of my attackers.
what is the best way to do this so that even if my opponent flashes restoration angel i can still tap all his creatures?
Here is what i'm currently running right now.. i have main boarded temblors and mortars due to the amount of aggro decks in my Local Meta. i used to run a list with +2 Dreadbore, +1 Sever the bloodline, + 1 Acidic Slime, + 1 devil's Play, and -1 centaur healer with fair amount of success but most times i end up killing 2/2s with dreadbores and aggro matches are a lot more difficult. i have also tried bonfire of the damned in mizzium mortars place but when you get bonfire on your opening hand or the 1st 2 turns you just wished it was mizzium mortars..
what are your suggestions on match ups against aggro decks? what usually works what doesn't?
So basically you can see I went a different route for my filling graveyard suite. Forbidden with flash back will end up digging deeper then anything else available, being able to pick what every I want helps too. Tracker's Instincts isn't as good as say Mulch (IMO) because you have to put a creature in your hand, but I feel like the early flash back makes up for this. Additionally I went with a couple creatures I do want in my hand IE Pack Rat, Healer
Pack Rat is a win-con. Game 2/3 it might come out, it might not. Sweepers and Detention Sphere is what dictates this. But he's a threat in his own right, he's a discard outlet for Angel/Craterhoof and once in play he's an uncounterable engine
Evil Twin was strictly SB for me, but it kept getting more and more value and I always wanted on in hand it seemed. So i've tried him in my 60 and he's actually quite good. Against aggro he can come down a turn earlier then Thragtusk for another 3/3 gain 3 if needed, if you can wait it out another Thragtusk doesn't hurt either. He's great against opposing Angel of Serenity's Geist, ect. Where he really shines is his synergy with Restoration Angel there are so many plays between these two that I find myself figuring out new ones each time I have a chance to. Even little things like Healer t3, Twin t4, Restoration bounce twin gain three more life or have another flying threat that sticks around for even more crazy plays later. Obvious ones like Copy Thragtusk, copy Craterhoof-Copy opposing Angel of Serenity's ect ect
Its IMO underutilized by the decks that can support him, but in this deck, he works in so many ways.
Playing blue also allows me to have a better interaction with the opposing player. I found with out blue I dumped as much stuff in my GY as I could cast a fatty and hoped for the best. Where as now I can have my own sweepers in the SB, I can have targeted removal for Planeswalkers in Detention Sphere I could even refill my hand with Sphinx's Revelation.
Its an Unburial Rites list with all the same fatties you all use, I just get them in my GY a different way and have options to me opened that typical lists dont.
Additionally I wanted a way to interact more with some Bant Control or U/W control U/W flash lists. Healers out for Loxodon Smiter, Pack Rat and being able to play Blue myself has made these match ups a lot more consistent and I feel less like I'm playing against them and myself. Some games with a non-blue list I felt like I had no control over any move I made. Now, I have greater interaction with the player and therefore greater success.
Question though-Is my Mana correct? I feel like its a bit G/W heavy still and could use a suggestion on that-I've always had the worse time getting my mana right.
Any other suggestions or feedback is welcome though.
I really like the inclusion of evil twin in this list. it just open a lot of possibilities and plays. Have you tried Alchemist's refuge though? i feel that this card has a lot of potential i mean you can just cast unburial rites EOT or evil twin EOT.
it would help if you guys could state some ruling references because this has been debated a lot in my local shop so next time i would play there i would have a solid case lol.
if a double strike attack would be considered as 2 separate attacks then i guess gisela lives since technically she has 10 damage first strike. but if double strike is only considered as 1 source how would the first strike of restoration angel be like?
I totally agree with you on playing aggressive. however i have already ditched Loxodon smiter for Boros reckoner. here is what i'm currently running:
3 Thundermaw Hellkite
2 Aurelia, The Warleader
3 Thragtusk
3 Restoration Angel
4 Huntmaster of the Fells
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
Spells 7
2 Boros Charm
2 Oblivion Ring
2 Bonfire of the Damned
1 Aurelia's Fury
4 Farseek
2 Domri Rade
Lands 24
4 Temple Garden
4 Stomping Grounds
3 Sacred Foundry
4 Rootbound Crag
3 Clifftop Retreat
2 Cavern of Souls
2 Kessig Wolfrun
1 Plains
1 Mountain
2 Tree of Redemption
1 Bonfire of the Damned
1 Aurelia's Fury
1 Domri Rade
2 Selesnya Charm
2 Sigarda, Host of Herons
2 Blind Obedience
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Ray of Revelation
2 Rest in Peace
Im now thinking of taking out Blind Obedience, Oblivion ring, and Ray of Revelation for a set of Loxodon Smiters in the SB so that i will have an Aggro Plan for Jund.
