@XanderK you were the other stopmy deck at the GPT last night?
I built this deck out of love for leatherback baloth. Baloth to me is the reason I play green. As for meta choices.... I played in my local GPT last night as well, M/U's were mono B, Jund (ended up undefeated), UW Tron, Junk pox, and a melira pod (newish, didn't think that they ran shriekmaws). went 3-2 overall. Losses were to Jund and the Pod deck. Due to supply reasons, I ran a subpar list (2 beast withins, no dismembers, no skylashers, topor orbs, or baloths in board).
Thoughts on the deck:
1- How do we beat anger? This is the "fallout" of new, and we need a way to deal.
2- Thinking on replacing Aspect of Hydra with Dungrove elder. Pumps have not really helped that much, as Vines can act as such. Most of my games have came down to needing something big and hexproof. This would be my suggestion.
3- Gitaxian Probe I have been wanting some access to knowledge of my opponents hand. Most importantly to see when they can sweep the board. The 2 life is negligible and this will let us play with "less" cards. Have thought about manamorphose, but the mana investment isn't worth it (imho).
I was at the GPT at Gamer's Asylum in Ogden, UT... I heard there was another Stompy deck there, lol... was that you?
With regards to Anger, as destroyermaker said, those are all cards that help vs Anger.
Experiment One can be 4/4+ or Regenerate
Leatherback Baloth dodges Anger
Thrun dodges Anger
Scavenging Ooze makes a nice big creature after you are Angered
Giant Growth/Vines of Vastwood/Aspect of Hydra grows a creature to get past Anger
Treetop Village dodges Anger (although I don't play it)
Liege dodges Anger (although I don't play it)
You can also sideboard in Obstinate Baloth which dodges Anger/Bolt if you're playing against Burn or a grindy matchup.
It was fault on the anger draw, at least for g2&3. Let's be honest though... if E1 is any bigger than 3/3 you've overextended. Debating on adding more Oozes as they catch removal faster than cobra did in zen standard. I also do not run any treetops. Coming into play tapped hurts. Really do like Liege on paper. Have yet to see my singleton. Going to remove my aspects and run 3 dismembers, my removal package was prey upon. Definitely missed that instant speed removal. Going to put a note on my lifepads about anger from now on. Side note, my board was more tweaked to fight all the URx control decks and I didn't fight a one of em. Shocking. Btw Gamer's Asylum is running a LOT more modern events here soon. If my memory serves me correctly, half of FNM's will be modern. Finally we get something worthwhile. Anytime you're in O-town and looking for a game/test session, hit me up.

I would suggest that if you aren't running Magma Jet already... to run that. 2 damage to any target at instant speed... while giving you the option to ditch the top 2 cards (if they aren't what you need) is pretty good. Swapping the two will also keep your curve the same, which will also be a plus.

It has helped me find obscure cards for EDH. Anything competitive based I usually end up slamming my head into a wall. There are a lot of "fan-boys" here, and mess with the recent tourney winning list... then the flames will be a coming. Also, using the forums has opened up my trading capabilities. If I really want to trade for a card or 2, there is usually someone here who has it (that usually wants a couple things that I have).

maybe figure isn't "good". he's at least one of the worse cards in my list.
what he is is better than lavamancer, magma jet, vortex/extra lands, or extra copies of marauders or hellsparks as multiples curve out awkwardly.
Fixed.
this is all regarding my list at least. what a card accomplishes in a set of 75 cards versus what it does in a vaccuum is something to consider.
Finally some truth that I'll agree with. Your deck did take 1st place, and for that you do get kudos. FoD in your deck has a purpose. I'm just saying that its no good in a vacuum for burn. If you build around it, whatevs. But in the tried and tested burn decks, its a little lacking.
Why are you basing all your opinions on something that hasn't been updated in 6 months? Everyone else is basing it on something that just happened... multiple times.
Do you not understand what "eternal" means when it comes to formats? This archetype doesn't rotate every 3 months. There will always be burn. And until there are better BURN cards printed, I don't foresee the primer getting an update anytime soon. The math is there, if you would just read it.
As for the placings of those who have ran FoD, good for them. If you feel that strongly about updates on this primer, then do another primer for "aggro burn" or "suicide burn" or w/e the hell you want to call it. It is not pure mathematical burn, hence my hate.
FoD isn't bad, it's just that it doesn't allow you to win "ASAP", and anyone who has played this format knows that "ASAP" is easily disrupted.
Yes, go ahead and interrupt my 16 bolts. Please FoW a burn spell. Pretty please. The only real things that hose burn are Hexproofing player effects, and Iona on red.
The lists winning these days are slightly more sligh than burn. call it what you want. higher creature counts are a deck construction/curve and metagame decision. Don't like it, fine critique it, but be constructive.
This is my whole argument. I am trying to be constructive. But argue with a wall for a couple days and see where you go from there. I say FoD is bad. Followers say its good because you and a couple others win with it. My next response is, did having FoD actually win you games where Guide, Marauders, other burn couldn't? Like you say, your winning with slightly more sligh. But hey, I'm just a old school burn player. What do I know?
With that being said, the hate really needs to calm down. It's not proving anything, or adding anything constructive. All it's doing is bringing negative attention to the thread, both from the general readership and from the moderation team.
Such is the curse of 2 sides seeing no middle ground on a subject. It is getting negative attention to the thread, sure. However, conflicts like this are what make people think to better the situation at hand. It may get ugly, but in the end we will be better for it.
Quick aside to the mod team: I'll gladly accept any Warnings or Infractions that you believe I may have accrued with this post.
Seconded. I fully accept w/e punishment I accrue from my posts. Just let me know when I get out of the penalty box if I have to go there.

Civility went out the window when people keep bashing their heads into a wall. By your posts, you seem to not even have read the initial primer. If you take offense to one of my statements, then a) I don't care and b) toughen up. The truth hurts, and until folks like yourself will actually stop acting like a bunch of "enlightened" snobs about the matter this disagreement will continue.
^^ Seriously? I was going to PM you with a warning for post #3246, but this warrants a yellow card. There's ZERO reason to be pretentious and condescending. Infraction for Flaming.
-Warden
Why are you playing 12 creatures? FoD isn't good. Until you understand that, any reasoning with you is moot. Read the 1st page in the primer, understand what "Burn" actually is. This is not RDW. So please get off your high horse and actually think. That is, if you can get away from copy-pasta.
This is really uncalled for. There's absolutely no reason you couldn't have addressed these statements in a nicer way
-Warden
When will folks learn that FoD is a bad card? Putting more mana into "possible" damage outputs isn't needed with burn.
For RR I get a 2/2...or
For RR I can get:
2x Goblin Guide Keldon Marauders
2x Lightning Bolt or equivalent Price of Progress
and @ worse I can get a Magma Jet
I will recognize the fact that there are folks out there that have done rather well with this card. But just because I can kill folks with a Wind Drake doesn't mean its a good card. There is so much more that you can do for 2 mana, and that is why I feel that burn is overlooked so much as "Competitive".

On a side note:
I stumbled upon a deck while testing that employed Gambles
to assert a bit of control and also refill his hand.
It got very ugly but I was lucky that those refills where mostly lands
and the deck was not really designed to handle my (in this case) fast(er)
clock.
Iona on red really is the game sealer. None of us pack Iona-hate game 1. Most of us only have enough space in the board for 3-4 spots of grave hate.
However, with all the NO decks and increase of reanimator/s&t out there... I have been siding some phyrexian metamorphs.
Gamble is a terribad card for burn. The only deck that might even find it useful would be a belcher/storm deck.
