Ah, I actually had a Swords but I remember lending it to someone. Probably where one of the extra spots came from! Also I forgot Kokusho is unbanned now, he'll definitely have to be included.
knowing what your meta is like would be really helpful. that way some deck tailoring would be done.
I'm not entirely sure. I know there are some pretty nasty combo-heavy sorts of decks out there. I know someone is playing G/B Glissa. From what I understand some of the people play to win so I can expect any sort of cheap win conditions they can come up with. Only a couple people are strictly casual.
There's an EDH tournament thingy on Tuesday and I think this is the deck of mine with the most potential to be competitive. Obviously it's not playable right now because it's only 95 cards so in addition to any improvements you can suggest I'll actually need suggestions for five additional cards to put in.
I'm sure a lot of you have seen either the deck or some/all of the combos/synergies that are possible with the cards in the deck so I'll spare you a lengthy explanation. Basically the deck sets up a sac outlet (the commander is one), CIP effects, and graveyard recursion to win. There are a lot of ways it can do this and a lot of interactions between various cards. Here's some examples:
The infamous Yosei lock, which involves sacrificing and recurring Yosei, the Morning Star from the graveyard to lock down an opponent. You can accomplish this with Corpse Dance to lock down multiple players or at least use it with something like Debtor's Knell to keep someone locked down every turn.
If you have a sac outlet, you can repeatedly use Mangara of Corondor by sacrificing it before it's exiled and reanimating it later.
These are just some of the possibilities. What I need is suggestions to make the deck more competitive and to replace any lackluster cards. Budget is somewhat of an issue, though I have access to a substantial amount of cards I can use just for this event. If a card is really old or really expensive chances are I won't be able to use it though.
If you need any more info just ask, otherwise thanks in advance for your suggestions!
I've had this idea to make a casual deck based on these game mechanics but I've been coming up short on ideas, and the deck I have now is subpar at best. However, there are a few cards I've found that might be useful:
Anyhow, I'm just having trouble getting this sort of deck to work. I think part of it has to do with not having an idea on how it's supposed to work...would mass discard be a good idea? Simply discarding my hand and hoping I have something like the dragon in play doesn't seem like it's been working very well. Any ideas? Any cards that would fit well in a deck like this?
Kokusho is like the kid who keeps getting picked on while the bigger kids take over the playground.
I'm really not that thrilled with this rules committee. This new release from them makes it seem like they all met for 5 minutes, said "EH, **** IT" and then everyone went out drinking.
I'm a casual player too, though I saw you have Chaos Warp for a tuck spell, might I suggest Oblation for a similar effect. Many EDH decks fold if their commander is tucked.
I love this card. I put it in my Stonebrow, Krosan Hero deck and it's wonderful when you draw a late-game Terramorphic Expanse or Rampant Growth and such. Of course it kinda stinks when you draw it in your opening hand or something, but that's what partial paris is for right

Here's some examples:
Reveillark+Karmic Guide infinite recursion. It can be used in conjunction with Ashnod's Altar for infinite mana (to power an Exsanguinate for example) or with Blasting Station to kill everyone.

You can accomplish this with Corpse Dance to lock down multiple players or at least use it with something like Debtor's Knell to keep someone locked down every turn.
Cards like Nim Deathmantle and Corpse Dance offer lots of fun possibilities with creatures that have strong CIP effects like Angel of Despair.
If you have a sac outlet, you can repeatedly use Mangara of Corondor by sacrificing it before it's exiled and reanimating it later.

EDIT: I guess it's been changed. Because Thought Lash was apparently too broken. Let's keep Kokusho banned though, that's important.
But your opponent does control it upon sacrifice. Because of Zedruu.
That's the same reaction most people have when I play it against them. Some of them think I'm joking when I tell them what I'm doing
