I can't wait for Tom LaPille to explain himself out of this one.
I'd actually love to know more about the FFL honestly. I'm certain every year we get a card that absolutely defines a format, and WotC just throws there collective hands up and says "oops, we totally missed that one! better luck next time (we'll still miss it then too)".
What, we've had in the last 4 years alone the power of Tarmogoyf, all of Fae (desert), Reflecting Pool/Vivids (cute), Cascade with BBE at the helm, and Jace (along with any of the other cards in standard that define the format (Stoneforge, Swords, Valakut, ect)). Is it just 6 or so guys building decks? A large crew of former pros? some sort of mix? Maybe a couple of local players?
But it really works out a lot like Jund back a year ago. Later sets brought new cards that looked like a good way to combat Jund. Then Jund immediately started playing those answers and the status quo was saved.
not sure why people are so high on this thing. pro red and white are very relevant, but this is the only sword that can possibly hit for ZERO of its bonuses if it comes out mid or late game.
If you're hitting for 0 on the Red trigger, you probably have that game wrapped up pretty well already.
Back in the old days where we had the full spoiler a month before release, I bought much more than now.
You know, I think that only happened once with Judgment (6 weeks early). Usually we don't have a full spoiler until Spoiler week on the main site has started at the earliest.
To be honest, I know When this happened last time (Judgment) Sales were weak, though 6-7 weeks is a long time, and that hype doesn't last that long. It also was long before places like Star City. I honestly don't think it'll have any noticeable difference in sales.
This is a better format than ZZZ was. The cards are complex and require thinking beyond playing evasive 2-drops. Draft is way better than sealed though: playing in GP: Toronto helped me realize that. My UW fliers pool was decent, but my RW draft deck with 3 Shatter, 1 Revoke Existence and Galvanic Blast, and 2 Turn to Slag in a side draft made me realize how much I like being in control of my deck composition.
Just going to put it out there that saying a limited format is better than ZZZ as a complement is like saying Grizzly Bear is better than Grey Ogre.
While the card isn't terribly powerful, I love the flavor of Lux Cannon. I can just hear the humming charging of the cannon before it blasts away some chump.
Also, Infiltration Lens seems pretty unfair. Obviously miles behind Skullclamp, but still super in limited.
PAX party is pretty hard to fake, others should have images up in minutes I'd guess. On the down side, those 4 looks like all the new ones, there's The Deed Dragon, Thrummingbird, and the 1/1 goblin equipment liker.

Quick question, would I be able to use an Ancient Hellkite ability to deal damage to the defending player's creatures if I'm attacking a planeswalker they control?
Vengevine is strong, its costed very competetively. And it has freaking haste in green
Why do people think this is unique on green cards anymore? It's like people being surprised at blue getting bad counters or white getting any and every ability. It's the way R&D has operated for at least 4 years now.
On topic: as long as people will pay 50 for Gideon and 70 for Jace, that's what they're worth.

Missed that one, guess it was that much of a limited card I missed it before. Not bad though, reminds me of Battle-mad Ronin in a much better way
