Let's say I have 4 Eager Cadets and Heliod, God of the Sun (so it's a creature), and attack with all of them. If I cast Cloudshift on one of my cadets in the Declare Blockers step, does Heliod stay in combat? Or does his devotion temporarily reset, knocking him out of combat?
No Wasteland, no Rishadan Port, no Show and Tell, no Sneak Attack, no City of Traitors. Wow. I was planning to draft this set until my eyes bled, but now I'm a bit less sure. I know that we get the duals and Force of Will at rare, in addition to a lot of other money cards, but still, it seems like they missed out BIG TIME on some key cards. I mean, it's not like they can reprint any of these cards elsewhere, like they did with Mutavault, Thoughtseize and potentially Chord of Calling.
One thing I noticed while reading the Ravnica novels, was that more than a few guildleaders / paruns were the last of their species:
- Niv-Mizzet is the last dragon
- Szadek is the last vampire
- Sisters were the last gorgons
- Razia was one of the few remaining angels, and IIRC, all angels, including Feather were just duplicates of Razia
In terms of retconning this, it did feel a bit cheap. However, dragons are immensely popular, and apparently people complain loudly if there are no dragons. Also, the Guildpact novel showed that more dragons were possible. As for vampires and gorgons, I guess they wanted some variety in creature types. Gorgons also had a slight overlap in Theros (Keepsake Gorgon, Hythonia the Cruel).
Ah well. RTR block was fun enough, and I think they did a fine job fleshing out the guilds, so I'm willing to give them a pass on these retcons, especially since so few of the MTG community would even notice them.
Green is actually pretty good in M14. I'll go with Groundshaker Sliver. The trample doesn't uusally mean much (unless the opponent has a token maker), and a 5/5 trample for 7 isn't super efficient. I tend to disagree with some of the other choices. Plummet is seeing sideboard play in Standard as an answer to Desecration Demon and Stormbreath Dragon or any other flyers, and is usually a fine sideboard card in Limited. Into the Wilds is technically ramp, but it's also card draw in the sense that instead of you drawing a land, you draw something else, just like you do with Courser of Kruphix.
Hi everyone, I remember seeing a GIF of the art for Wrath of God morphing into Damnation's art. One user had it as his or her avatar. I can't find said user or the art. Can anyone help? Thanks.
I'll go with Merfolk Spy. It's the only card I've never put into a limited or constructed deck. Tome Scour doesn't really do anything, but I've lost games to it plus Archaeomancers. Glimpse the Future is heinously overcosted, and strong evidence of R&D's current hatred of hand filtering cards, but it is still playable in average to below average blue decks. All told though, blue in Magic 2014 is friggin loaded. Such a fun colour to play in limited.
The draft order is reversed now. Instead of first set - second set - third set, like Time Spiral - Planar Chaos - Future Sight, the most recent set is opened first. So, Dragon's Maze - Gatecrash - Return to Ravnica.
I don't always post about Rafiq of the Many, but when I do, I cardlink to the original artwork, and not the supplementary product version.
"I trust myself to do my duty, even unto death. It's what comes after that I'm afraid of."
"Just fight without fear. Your soul is protected by the hand of Avacyn and will never submit to evil."
