With Red Sun's Zenith in my graveyard and Kess, Dissident Mage on the battlefield, if I use Kess's ability with Red Sun's Zenith, does the spell card exile or shuffle back into my library?

If I draw a card with no cards in my library with both Laboratory Maniac and Lich's Mirror on the battlefield, what happens?

So with the new embalm mechanic, it got me speculating about how card names are linked to their other respective characteristics. Can you create a token that has THE NAME of a printed card but with different abilities, colors, card types etc. that belong to the printed version of that named card?

So I'm not sure if there's a list for these figures,
but a few of them are well known by experienced players.
What I'm referring to are the base costs that are
transferable between different game resources. The
most noticeable equivalency is this one, which is
obvious in cards like Flame Javelin:

2 = 1 colored mana (W or U or B or R or G)

Or how 2 life is equivalent to 2,
as evidenced in cards like Norn's Annex:

2 life = 2 = 1 colored mana (W or U or B or R or G)

Now this all may seem trivial, but it's super important
when determining if a card is under or over costed.
We all know Jace's Ingenuity is a 'fixed'
version of Ancestral Recall, but using
equivalencies you can determine why:

- If 1 colored mana (in this case U) = 2,
then Jace's Ingenuity could hypothetically cost 7.
(3 + 2 + 2)
- Divination costs 2U and allows you to draw two cards
at sorcery speed. If you use this same method for Divination, you
get a hypothetical equivalency of 4.
(2 + 2)
- If Divination allows you to cast a spell at sorcery speed to draw
two cards for 4, then you could argue that drawing one card at
sorcery speed is equivalent to 2.
- This can be confirmed with Jace's Ingenuity, which draws three cards
at instant speed for 7. The equivanecies can be broken up like this:
- 2 draw one card at sorcery speed.
- 2 draw one card at sorcery speed.
- 2 draw one card at sorcery speed.
- Pay 1 extra to draw at instant speed.
- TOTAL COST: 7 = (3 + U + U)

Using this method, we can determine how undercosted Ancestral Recall really is:

- If Jace's Ingenuity has almost the same effect as Ancestral Recall but
has an equivalent cost of 7, then Ancestral Recall, which has an
equivalent cost of 2, is under-costed by 5, which is why Ancestral Recall is broken.

My question for the forum is what are other equivalencies? The key
to determining if a card is good or not is to be able to make these
calculations at more experienced levels. Specifically, what are the
equivalencies for:

- Sacrificing a creature as a cost
- Discarding a card as a cost
- Tapping an untapped creature as a cost

If there are other base cost equivalencies I'd be happy for you to post
your ideas in the comments below.

How do/can I stack these abilities to gain infinite life BEFORE my opponent gains control of Jinxed Idol?

Hey guys, well.. long have I been interested in the topic of whether W is truly 'good' and I'm glad that the game designers have basically claimed W can be evil. This has inspired to construct a W deck that is totally evil. Being a conceptually-driven deck, this is a bit challenging to do, and would appreciate any input the forum can give me.


Guidelines:

- Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is the commander.
- Archenemy compatability
- Mechanically-driven over flavor-driven (This is fundamental since evil isn't a quality, but an action. If someone wore a cloak and cackled all the time, that wouldn't make them evil. If someone wore a priest's robe and stole candy from children, then they'd be evil.)
- Fun to try and stop (while it's great making an evil deck, I'd rather it not be a trolling deck. The point of magic is to have fun, and I'd rather have a deck that is challenging yet engaging. i.e. Not a broken combo deck, but rather a deck that will overwhelm the opponent).

Now when I just started playing, someone described to me that your hand was your mind, your library was your book of spells, drawing cards represented studying your library, milling is shredding your library, searching your library for a card is like being taught by a teacher, etc.

So what does your life total represent?

Is it your toughness as a planeswalker?
Is it like 1ups in a video game?
Is it the population of civilians under your command?
Is it your treasury?

The flavor of this has always elluded me and I'm not sure if there's any definative suggestion what it may be from Wizards.

I don't think it's as far flung as many might think.

IMO the plot will either center around Bolas, who mechanically fits a multicolored block, or the rampage of the Eldrazi on Ravnica, which is the logical progression of Jace's story arc.
