Being afraid of death isn't a problem, unless its a problem.
A lot of people go through those times, but its better to contemplate it and come to grips with it. Understand Death, and live your life to the fullest. That's the best revenge on that bastard.
Souls of the Faultless is kind of AMAZING for this dekc.
I'd also recommend anything like Corrupt or Essence Drain, stuff that steals life and gives it to you.
There's also a w/b flying creature with lifelink that I can't remember the name of for the life of me that my friend uses in a similar deck to great effect.
You like white? Then may I suggest a standard white weeny deck? White Weeny is a deck type with a lot of low cost creatures and token generating spells that intend to overwhelm your opponent with massive numbers. Given the right cards, you could even go tribal (making all the creatures in the deck the same creature type) and have them give boosts to one another. Soldiers make good white decks, as do Clerics, but I always include at least one angel.
And as everyone else here has said, it all depends on how you want to play the game. A casual deck is going to come together easier then a standard one, but youll be able to play standard in more places. You've got a lot options, and while I might've recommended making a deck of each color, you can't get a good feel for how each color operates, even in a 60 card deck. You seem to have looked in to a lot of stuff already though, so good on you.
CAn I just say I find it terrifically ironic that a lot of people were opposed to the Female Planeswalkers thread, but everyone seems to be in agreement with the Male Angels thread?
With the Introduction of M13, and its connection to more of the planes we've been to, bu the focus on Alara, my crackpot theory is looking a little more stable.
I'd highly recommend at least ONE Lord though. There are a few cheap ones. Maybe through in a splash of red so you can use Stormkirk Captain. There are a lot of options.
I think black/red is more stupid evil than mono-b. True nihilism is beyond color honestly.
It does. I'm just saying someone who is selfish but who wants to destroy everything is either incredibly dumb or incredibly nihilistic.
"I live in misery and nothingness, so let everything else become nothingess as well."
And you're right. Red's the color that's more liable to blow **** the **** right up because "HEY! EXPLOSIONS!". Still, I stand by my case: When black is evil, it is OBVIOUSLY evil. None of the other colors have that going for them with the possible exception of certain types of red evil.
The CoreSets don't have a specific story to tell or place that they're set. So seeing a general from Innistrad who fights under Avacyn in it isn't too far off. I didn't notice that though, so thanks for pointing it out~!
Actually, has anyone noticed how much of Alara is bleeding in to m13? Maybe I should make a speculah topic about it...
The question's been answered, but I think I like the explanation best that morality transcends color. Or maybe, color trascends morality. The Color Pie is a basic line of personality, and morality is...well, morality.
Black is a color of selfishness and "me first". It is entirely possible to be selfish, but also be a hero. It's kind of funny how epople don't see this when it's...basically the primary motivation for a lot of philosophical moralities.
I think Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist put it the best. Let's say the world was threatened by some entity or being or...WHATEVER. The whole world. Being part black aligned myself, I'd be selfish...and actually try and stop it. I'll want to save the world, because it has stuff that's important to ME in it! INCLUDING myself. I may or may not value my friends as individuals (I do, don't worry), but they're important to me because they keep me from being lonely, help me in times of need, and entertain me. They're MY friends! It's MY house. MY world. And if you destroy it, you're taking something away FROM me, and I won't stand for that!
When black is good, it's the strangest most awesome sort of good. Kicking the ass of someone trying to hurt something or somebody you value because they are of value to you. Not because of love, or friendship, but pure logic.
When black is evil, black is stupid evil. The obvious evil, the one sitting in the evil tower with giant angry flaming eye plotting to take over the world. But the idea of a black person seeking to DESTROY worlds reeks to me of nihilism.
Orzhova, Church of Deals if for some reason you go to the long game this can eek out a win in a board stall.
I was never found of that card. I liked its ability but I always thought it was much too costly. That said, part of this deck's design is waiting it out.

You'll probably want this to be a B/W, as White has things like Kor Hookmaster and Holy Day.

You're absolutely right. And I think I have a spare pair lying around...somewhere.
I have a fondness for Cleric decks. There's just something hilarious about being able to sit down, wave my hand, and say "NOPE."
