Come to think of it, what would happen if you have a mirror Archetype? It doesn'tquite neutralize it, since both cards are stating I can have this and you can't. So which cards gets overall priority in determining whose effects happen?
Back in the ye olde tymes of INN/RTR, I had a Bant sphere of safety deck. Now I kinda want to see if I could rebuild the basic concept of the deck. Given that we lost the easy mana base of the checklands as well as the mana filtering of abundant growths and such, I feel that the safe path is to stick with a single color, which devotion helps support a bit. Anyways, here's the decklist.
This is a bit of a random brew in about 15 minutes, it feels like I'm trying to do a midrange deck, yet my side board seems to want to transform this into a pseudo-Weenies deck at the same time. I hope that you guys could help iron out some wrinkles in the deck.
I'm pretty sure it's random at least card wise. Personally, I do think that there seems to be a rarity skew.
Last night, I pulled a Detention Sphere from my Azorius guild pack, and then a Vraska, Grave Betrayal, Havoc festival, Volatile Rig, a foil Mizzium Mortars, and a Search the City. Today, when I was playing Rakdos, I pulled a Grave Betrayal from my guild pack, and then a Hallowed Fountain, Isperia, Foil Righteous Authority, Foil Mana Bloom, Jace, Martial Law, and a Wild Beastmaster.
Given the pool today, I was basically heavily invested in playing Azorius again, despite being a Rakdos Guild member.
Do we know what the Artifacts are? In the Card list breakdown in the first post, daygl0 has a Civic Saber and Street Sweeper listed under artifacts, but it seems like it hasn't been quite spoiled yet.
Set up, have Fiend Hunter on the field and 4 untapped mana. Cast Restoration Angel, preferably at Opponents EOT, targeting the Fiend Hunter. Fiend Hunter comes back into play, targeting Restoration Angel. Next turn, cast second Restoration Angel, once again targeting Fiend Hunter. Put the LTB trigger on the stack first and then the ETB trigger, targeting the second Restoration Angel. The second one is exiled, and then the first one returns to the battlefield, starting the process over again. Seraph Sanctuary is there to take advantage of the Restoration Angels entering the battlefield over and over again.
Cathedral Sanctifier is the only one drop that fits relatively well into this deck. While people I know have said that I should replace them with Doomed Traveler, I've found that the 3 extra life gained from the sanctifiers help mitigate some of the early pressure until I could develop a decent board state. It also helps that I could use it multiple times as targets for either Emancipation Angel or Restoration Angel.
Silverblade Paladin is in here to help decrease the number of times I need to swing in with my creatures as well as providing me with a decent blocker if I souldbind him with Serra Avenger later in the game.
Fiend Hunter is in here as a anti-creature removal. It is also part of a nice little infinite combo if the stars are in the proper alignment and the card gods smiles upon me.
Angel of Jubilation is useful for it's anthem ability, though the second ability is now less useful now that NPH is rotating out.
Restoration Angel is a really nice card, which I'm pretty sure everyone knows how nice, though once Blade Splicer rotates out, it's slightly less nice. Also, it's another piece to the infinite combo.
Sublime Arcangel is here to provide an extra oomph to the attack when it comes.
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight once again is here to make sure that the attacks I do would pretty much either one- or two-hit my opponents if my creatures are able to connect.
Oblivion Ring: more removal for those pesky creatures, artifacts and enchantments.
Entreat the Angels; Sometimes, all you want to do is flood the field with an ridiculously large number of angels.
Seraph Sanctuary is the final piece to the infinite combo and in the mean time would provide a source of life whenever I start playing my choir(?) of angels.
Right now, I'm conflicted about whether I should replace Knight of Glory with Aven Squire for the evasion. However, the extra point of power as well as the fact that he is a human is what makes me lean towards the knight. The protection from black is just a bonus. Also, part of me wants to incorporate Angelic Overseer into the deck with the synergy with Silverblade Paladin. However, I'm not sure what to remove to include her.
@walkingplanes: I get that walls aren't the best idea in this deck and have been replaced by the Splicers, but why not emancipation angel? She's mostly there for utility to reset the loop or the oblivion rings if I need her to while she's still a 3/3/ flying body. Also, if not this type of deck, then what kind of deck should I run her with?
@Turribull: Goldnight Commander isn't a bad idea, though since Champion isn't on a evasive body, he's going get chump blocked forever plus the fact that only he benefits from the loop means he's alot lower in my consideration.
Not quite sure about viable Metamorph is, since the loop requires that the first Restoration Angel be exiled by Fiend Hunter in order to properly start.
Wartime surge and Vigilante Justice isn't a bad idea either, but I'm not quite sure about the mana requirement, since this deck is heavily invested in white.
@ TabooTapeworm: Well, I was checking to make sure it's legal in the sense that it's doable by the rules and priority/timing/stack. I would probably only set off the loop when I have either Seraph Sanctuary or Cathar's Crusade out for an arbitrarily large number of life gain or +1/+1 counters on other creatures I control.
As for Blade splicer, I think that's not a bad idea and I'll put that into consideration once I start play testing the deck.
@dtran1717: I think it's doable, since the entire action of the flicker has to be resolved first before the ETB effect of restoration angel triggers. Though I could be wrong, which is why I'm asking the Forums.
Here's an idea that's been going around in my head ever since I got the Promo Restoration Angel, since she's just begging to be played and I wanted to use other angels in conjunction with her instead of focusing just on her flicker ability.
Basic Idea behind this deck is basically just aggro out the opponent with Angels pumped by anthems and possibly the double-strike afforded by the Silverblade Paladins. Angelic Walls are there to counter Delvers, since a good 20% of players in my area plays Delvers. Fiend Hunter and Oblivion Ring are there for removal when needed. Sunpetal Groves are included for SB choices, Bower passage against Tokens and Sigarda against Mono-black.
Also, just a quick clarification, is it legal for 2 Restoration Angels and a Fiend Hunter to cause an infinite loop? I.E. Fiend Hunter is on the board, Restoration Angel comes in next turn to flicker Fiend hunter, exiling the Restoration Angel. Next turn, 2nd Restoration Angel comes in, targets Fiend Hunter, who then exiles the 2nd Restoration Angel, and repeat the process with the 1st Restoration Angel that was exiled as her comes into play triggers again.
Main Idea is to get either Gisela or the Soul out asap through Mana dorks with focus on the Somberwald Sage. Kessig Cagebreakers and Glories Rise are there for the inevitable spot removal and board wipes, also works well with Champions trigger as if the Champion is risen with 3 other Mana dorks, automatic 3 +1/+1 counters. Mayors could either help keep the Champions alive for a tiny bit when they first hit the field or provides bodies to the Champion and the Soul through wolf tokens.
Since when were we talking about the Innistrad Legends as Lords? I thought the argument was that there is a hole in our expectations of there being a Werewolf Legend since every Tribe in Innistrad had one. Though to be honest, I still feel that there is also a bit of a hole in the Tribal Captain Cycle, as though they say Hamlet Captain is supposed to be the Human one, he lacks the static +1/+1 and has the conditional pump, which means more often then not, you're only able to get the bonus for one attack/defense phase, as he was often the creature players made sure died that phase.
(edit: misremembered that Garruck took the Mythic DFC, not a DFC Legend)

Serra Avenger: two drop Angel, enough said.
Knight of Glory is here to serve as a damage booster to replace Honor of the Pure due to the fact that it is rotating out soon.
Emancipation Angel allows me to get a few more uses out of Cathedral Sanctifier and Seraph Sanctuary/ It would also, in an worst case scenario, allow me to reset Cavern of Souls.
Silverblade Paladin is in here to help decrease the number of times I need to swing in with my creatures as well as providing me with a decent blocker if I souldbind him with Serra Avenger later in the game.
