The problem is them 'fixing' it is just making the beta a bit better and adding other phantom events that nobody wants. They need to scrap the beta, and restart with a developer with a strong track record and build for the long haul.
They brought in outside help to get development going smoother, so there's that. We'll see if they get more aggressive with their changes, though.
I don't think my family ever discovered the actual meaning of our surname. We've been told it's from the French word "Soileux" meaning a grower/seller of rye and also that it means something along the lines of farrier or someone who made the soles for shoes? My last name is Soileau, btw.
Since you seem to be American, it's very possible your last name got changed at some point. A lot of American families changed their names to fit in better (that 'x' might confuse some people).
Well redemption still exists, does this mean that mainly modern and legacy cards will most likely drop atm? If you can still redeem sets, then wouldnt whatever is in rotation still stay stable and everything else will go down?
I think older cards (that can't be redeemed) will drop a lot more, but it's possible both will drop. Redemption is a really big part of newer card prices, no doubt.
I don't think my surname has much meaning to it, but it does help trace my family back to a specific county in Ireland, before we immigrated to the US ~250 years ago.
Some of my other family names are less clear though. One of them was changed at Ellis Island, and another is clearly Scottish or Scotch-Irish but again doesn't have much of a specific meaning (the internet suggests "son of the servant of" and Irish saint, but all that really does is place the name in Northern Ireland at some point after the 7th century).
Economic Left/Right: -2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.79
(and for context, I'm an undergrad economics major)
I think I last took this specific test in a high school government class, where I scored right-libertarian. I identified as a Libertarian back then, but I would never do so these days. Being a Libertarian (with a big 'L') implies holding a lot of rather extreme beliefs, so I'm more comfortable saying that I like markets and value my civil liberties.
It would really be pretty cool if we had a MODO client on par with other modern video games, or at least video games prior to 2001. It's currently just this magical featureless client, and the fact that the underlying game is fantastic is really the only thing worth mentioning about it.
Dunno. I'd say Center-Left probably. I usually agree with Democrats here in America, but that's partially because the Republicans are pretty stupid these days. I do roll my eyes at most of the anti-corporations stuff coming out of the left, though, so I'm not super far left.
Oh, and for the bio stuff:
Ethnicity: White (Irish American)
Education: Undergrad economics student
I think MODO grinding is your best bet if you want to get a lot better. Some of the better Americans in Magic these days came from MODO, and that's because MODO allows you to play a lot of tournaments easily. Grinding Daily Events isn't expensive at all if you can win at a decent rate, and MODO PTQs are as competitive as any.
I would play GW and just focus on crushing the RDW matchups. Could probably even build a midrange list and play Archangels just to cause them that much more pain.

Some jobs do seem more stable than others though, and most jobs involve acquiring certain skills or experience that helps you get other jobs.
Not directed at you, but to me trying to support a family off of an internet card game seems selfish.

I'd be more worried about the control matchup, because you have to rely on Draw-Go Advent of the Wurm to actually win.
