That's a chesty guy. I'd need to see what new auras we're getting before I "crown" him. Bestow just seems too overcosted, and the Ordeals get blown out by Hero's Downfall
Maze's End is an excellent "dark horse" deck. My friend ran it a few weeks ago at an FNM and went 3-1! Afterward he told me he could've gotten 4-0 if he hadn't missed the fact that he had 10 guildgates out (he thought he had duplicates)
Shattergang Brothers is one of those cards that you really just have to play to believe in. I've been playing the precons (unedited) and it's been an absolute beating. It locks down the game until they kill it
So in many, many threads, I heard players complain about potential price gouging on the new commander decks by LGS's/websites--and it seems everyone has the exact same backup plan: buy them at Walmart/Target/other Big Box store. Obviously, they won't have the stock to be everyone's backup plan--so I wanted to see how that's worked out for people, and what people plan to do going forward. Feel free to give details in your posts.
My LGS offered MSRP if you bought all 5, or $10 higher than MSRP if you only bought 1. I bought the set of 5; a Target I checked had a couple of them at MSRP (Jund/Naya), but not the ones I wanted.
I got all 5 on release day at Target. I actually got lucky; there were none on the shelf, but there was a cart filled with nondescript cardboard boxes a few feet away. I checked them, and one was a sealed case of all five precons -- the last they had left.
I've played all five precons with my friend -- from a 1v1 perspective, the Jund deck is the most powerful out of the box, and the Grixis deck is by far the weakest because it has a lot of dead cards. I can't tell you how many times I exiled cards with "X" in their casting cost with Jeleva, which is pointless, because that X is going to be 0 with her ability.
Naya was surprisingly good 1v1. There's a lot of synergy with that deck, with the beast tribal and "5 power" mechanics.
The esper deck is decent out of the box, but it has like, NO removal. I think I counted four or five spells that could target and kill creatures, or kill creatures en-masse. Definitely not good enough, especially against the Bant deck, when they have Rubinia Soulsinger out...
Is there any point in checking Target or Wal-Mart at midnight for these things? Or will they be stocked at some point in the middle of the day tomorrow?
It may have been regional. I didn't have any problems getting the first Commander sets in Northern California. The first couple of weeks, they were at higher than MSRP, but then they appeared in all of the big box stores and the local gaming stores were restocked. So, after a month or so, you could get them at all of the shops for MSRP. Maybe in smaller markets with fewer stores, the Commander sets were in short supply, but you should have still been able to buy them at Wal-mart and Target. Months after the release, I was buying Commander sets in those stores for Flusterstorm and Scavenging Ooze.
Totally agree, by the way. My friend and I were able to get four different ones the day of release. Eventually, all five were available at Walmart/Target after a few weeks. But I live in a big city.
Hey everyone, does anyone know how much this deck box is worth? I can't find it for sale anywhere, and a store owner made me a little nervous when he told me that this totally benign deck box I was using yesterday might be worth some money.
My apologies if this is the wrong forum, or if a thread already exists for these types of questions.
LOVE this BR deck. But, I have a feeling Rakdos's Return in my hands would not be nearly as good as in Lukas's. He did an amazing job of setting that one up last game.

BDM on the scrylands in this deck: "So the ONLY reason it's in there is for Scry."
Jaklovsky: "Yes. And to mystify opponents, I guess."

Hah, that's awesome. I wish I knew more people that are just so calm and friendly with each other in tournaments like that.

Me too. It's a little disheartening because that's my deck...
I love RB, BW, and RBW. So many options...so hard to deal with...
EDIT: How can I go about buying one of those Theros tables? Haha.
