I quess we are talking about a casual build, right? I mean, nobody wants to play the probably worst white weenie ever at competitive level!
What makes this deck better than a black infect deck with Hand of Preators and/or Phyrexian Vatmother, Septic Rats, Plague Stinger etc etc?
How can two white infect Kreatures trigger peoples will to build white infect decks?
Comparing "this" with e.g. Mono White Knights make me feel always better with the Knights...
The problem is you will likely Shape Anew into another Precursor Golem. One lightning bolt, doom blade, journey, etc. and you're hosed.
I think I speak for all people reading this thread when I say: NO!
The enchantment does nothing to all 9 Golems out of a Shape Anew.
But to keep it real - the other ones are exactly the Cards why you shouldn't play the Golems. Its GG when the opponent hasn't one of this - but the situation is just self-killing if he has a removal.
I wonder why theres no "Garruk the Machine", "Jace Beleren the Machine", "Jace, TMS the Machine", "Ajani Vengeant the Machine", "Ajani Goldmane the Machine", "Chandra Nalaar the Machine", "Chandra Ablaze the Machine", "Liliana the Machine", "Nissa Revane the Machine", "Sorin the Machine", "Gideon Jura the Machine", "Elspeth, Knight-Errant the Machine", "Elspeth Tirel the Machine", "Nicol Bolas the Machine", "Koth the Machine", "Sarkhan Vol the Machine", "Sarkhan the Madmachine", or "Venser the Machine"...
Okay I aggree with Tezzeret, the Seeker as a good card in some Decks but for real: Why people do always think that "Planeswalker" means "build a deck around this card"? Planeswalkers are good for decks - and nothing more in most cases.
This deck plays a ton of weak cards just du make one of the weaks to a 5/5 that dies to something...
Weed out the weak....means some completely different...
Anyway I think that 4 Master's Call, 4 Inkmoth Nexus and two Phyrexian Rebirth are enough artifacts for Shape Anew. I'm pretty sure that this deck won't be good when playing it as a pure combo deck! So why not playing it more control-like?
With 3 Day of Judgment, 2 Phyrexian Rebirth and some Mana Leak, Spell Pierce and so on you should be pretty save. The advantage of Master's Call to be an instant is obvious.
// Spells
4 See Beyond
3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
4 Mana Leak
4 Shape Anew
4 Preordain
3 Day of Judgment
2 Phyrexian Rebirth
4 Master's Call
I think its okay to have more neutral removal spells than specific ones like Journey to Nowhere...Also, it could be good to add more counters and/or Into the Roil would be good...
I don't know exactly, but I think shaping Mono Blue Control/Architect to UB could be a better way. You dont need the Darksteel Myr as a 5/5 Indestructible, when you can push up a Silver Myr on Turn 3, attack Turn 4 and dig into a Precursor Golem (or something like that).
Also Black would give you Grasp of Darkness, which is good against Architects, Sphinxes (obv just without Metalcraft), Precursor Golems, and the even bigger creatures when you play it during combat.
Additionaly Tezzeret's Ultimate leeches ten life with a battlesphere and even a lifeleech of 4-6 could be okay.
I would suggest a Kind of Toolbox with Hoarding Dragon. Imagine a dying Hoarding Dragon turns into a Wurmcoil Engine or a Steel Hellkite. First I also thought on Darksteel Juggernaut but I think therefore the count of Artifacts isn't that good enough. Additionally the only good mana artifact is Everflowing Chalice. Khalni Gem isn't that amazing. It's 'just okay and obv an artifact'.
What the Deck needs is on the one hand more/better artifacts from the block and on the other hand a focussed plan that isn't "Artifacts because it shall be mono brown".
I agree w/ ppl saying the Queller could be strong. Its like a Smokestack on feets.
Too bad that there is no BB in standard
But I'm testig it as a control card and not as a combo card. World Quellers effect is a nice one against special threads like Enchantmens, Artifacts and Planeswalkers.
Last weekend I decide to make a Highlander-Deck just for fun and friends.
The main theme should be "Vampires" but because these bloodsuckers are mostly in the cc5 and greater area i decide to add some "Minions".
Main Idea is : - Vampire-Creature-Types (not the Changelings
or not that much)
- Bat-Creature-Typres (the smaller vamps)
- Cards that cope with the Theme and have "Blood" in the
name (e.g. Barter in Blood, Blood Celebrant,
Blood Cultist etc.)
- rest of Minions (don't know...zombies? skeletons? whatever?
- maybe cards with vampires/bats on them would be n1, too
Problem is, that there is nearly zero earlygame and slow lategame...
Important for me are the "Sengirs"
Maybe adding Scythe of the Wreched, Unscythe, Deathrender, Nightmare Lash...for making the Vamps better in battle...
Also I don't mind if it's 60-cards-Highlander or 100-cards-Highlander...The fun is important for me; and the fact of a stylish deck...
Not the Mannequin will be cutted for another Bituminous Blast - the Warhammer is incredible assf***ing. One Deathmark in the SB will be swapped with the 4th Anathemancer - he's just too good.
This Deck hasn't a really bad matchup - the worst is 5CC but also 50:50 imho
I think we have discuss the Captain<->Liege problem and came to the point that tha Captain doesn't pump the Tokens because they comes into play as 3/3 because of the Liege....look 1 to 2 sides before this post...
Gaddock Teeg is a solid creature for 2mana and is preventing early SP, ***, Commands, and so on; and forces the opponent to removal him before he can play a Massremoval/whatever. Therefore we have the Dauntless Escort, also with a solid body for cc3, which has an awesome effect, imho.
6 Manacreatures should allow us to play Turn 3 easyly a 3-Drop.
The Pridemage is a good Watchwolf who can pimp other creatures and destroy Bitterblossom, Anthem, whatever is an artifact or enchantment (;
I think I don't need to say sth about Kitchen Finks - just a very solid creature.
The Lieges are also good Creatures and are mostly like 2 Anthems with body. And a small bonus is the effect agains Blightning/whatever (;
The Knight of New Alara is the Liege 5-6.
I needn't tell sth about the Removal imho (besides that I don't know if Oblivion Ring is realy necessary).
The neo-noob-hammer is always good for pushing creatures and give them evasion.
I think it'll be the same or better because it actually might get some access to different colors. Boat Brew may get some G and become a Naya based, or access to some other color. I personally am going to test out some BW cards that are out and take full advantage of the great BR cards. I'd like to make a WBR Boat Brew with access to cards like Terminate, Thought Hemorrhage, and Identity Crisis. I also like the BW instant that gives all your guys +1/+1 and all your opponent's guys -1/-1. Seems great against Tokens if you play it in responce to an Anthem drop, Ajani drop or just to even the playing field and allow your tokens to take out theirs... I really like the addition of black.
-Yawg
That could be the problem. Now you only need to exchange 4 different cards to make a Boat Brew Deck to an BWr Token Deck -.-
I don't think Boat Brew now is worse...but what's happening with M10 in a few month? Bye Painlands, bye SGC, bye Mogg Fanatic, and maybe bye ***...I think this could be a problem, bec. a good power2-finisher is missing, a good 1stdrop, and if the M10 lands aren't the EV NEODUALZ OF DOOM like wizards say, there is also a problem with the manabase.
But up to this I would (afer testing a few rounds) keep it RW...maybe crazy broken ideas with splash colors came up in the future, but up to this there are a few weeks/month(naaah) to play the old school Boat Brew (;
Cause he's more expensive then the rest of your deck - the courve stopts with elspeth/whatever and the coup but this doesn't matter.
Also you must sacrifice more than one creature to make this creature worth.
And there are many Spotremoval who are able to target the Fungus -.-
I would recommend increasing the number of spells which are also good without the Sigil Captain. If not ~ half of your deck needs the Captain and without him they die from Volcanic Fallout and the other Massremovals/Sweeper.
Maybe just 1-2 Sigiled Captains like Boat Brew plays Balefire Liege - just as gimmic. So its great if u have one but doesn't hurt that mutch if you don't draw him. And remember - alone he's just a Grey Ogre -.-
If a Permanent/Card comes into play the following is happening:
1. adopting alternate effects
2. adopting static effects.
3. to check triggered abilities.
The worm becomes from the static ability of the liege in step 2 3/3, because of this, the Captain "sees" the worm in step 3 not as 1/1, and his ability doesn't trigger.
This has nothing to do with the Layers or the SBEs. It's just that the worm token comes into play as a 3/3
Sorry for my english but in translating rules into another language i'm not that good (;
But the fact is, that the Liege doesn't produce 5/5 with the Sigil Captain.
so far...
