Anyone else test skullcrack? I've been loving it. I used to HATE seeing a stoneforge drop, but the other i skullcracked him in responce to bskull attacking for two turns straight and it won me the game. It definitely helps a few match ups that were a dread to me before.
In terms of burn creatures right now there are very few I agree with. I don't like 'mancer one bit, it has to fight deathrite shaman when yards are low and I like to interact as little as possible in burn. Goblin Guide has also fallen out of favor for me, he used to be my favorite one drop. GG giving opponents land didn't use to be a problem, but I've been seeing a lot of control lately and they do not need more CA, also helps elves. Hellspark Elemental is on the list as well, for the same reason I stopped running mancer.
On a different note: SPLASHING WHITE! Have you guys seen Boros Charm? One sided instant speed Flame Rift! Also allows Lightning Helix to secure victory vs aggro.
I've been testing with 2 plains, 4 plateau, 4 arid mesa. I'm probably gonna drop a plateau. that little white splash opens up a lot of options though. the obvious rest in peace, oblivion ring, angel's grace is good against certain combo decks but it's a meta call. I've been having success with the build though, it runs 0 creatures.
@WeaponX: I recently learned my lesson about not protecting my win con. I decided I'm going to try a main deck Elspeth and see how that goes. Also, I cast abrupt decay with Mox Diamond, fetchlands, and land tax.
I do, however, think I'm going to swap one 'Decay for the Elspeth in the SB. I don't think I need 3.
Well, you have all probably seen or heard of the new decks using Balustrade Spy and Undercity Informer to pull the ol' Hermit Druid combo. The list I've been seeing (and originally playing) is not spectacular. It can win on turn one but a lot of the cards seem dead most of the time; Summoner's Pact, Living wish is not needed.
Someone in a different thread mentioned using Reanimate to grab Spy or Informer from the yard after looting them in. Immediately I realized this was a much better plan than the Pact/Wish clunky list.
I've been winning a few matches and almost every game 1 I've played.
I've mulled down to 4 and still hit a turn one kill on the play. It was Lotus Petal, Dark Rit, Entomb, Reanimate.
LED and Faithless Looting (not to mention cabal therapy) are all there to drop your combo pieces for you. Having entomb/reanimate is great, less stress on the mana.
A nice play I won with earlier
Simian Spirit Guide
Lotus Petal
Lion's Eye Diamond
Infernal Tutor, Sac LED in response discarding balustrade spy
add black with LED, tutor for reanimate, bazinga.
Just wanted to let everyone. This is IMHO the optimal way to play Gatecrash Druid.
I still think I need to change some silver bullets and the sideboard. It needs tweaking and tuning, and I need parfait experience. Getting the mana is no problem. I love this
I just downloaded cockatrice for the second time. (different computer). When I try to open the program I'm met with the general settings page. I pressed ok and it said "Your card database is invalid. Would you like to go back and set the correct path?"
Whew. I thought got banned by accident or something. I really hope this gets fixed quick though. And P1nhead, I feel your pain. I was in an EDH game when this started happening. Does anyone know of this happening before and what came of it?
