Having them credited any other way means that 90% (rough estimate) of players won't see the credit. The majority of players doesn't even read dailymtg.
I was reading the release notes and found this: (emphasis mine, but that's actually what it says)
If you use Agent of Acquisitions to draft a booster pack containing Lore Seeker, and you wish to add a booster pack to the draft, first draft each remaining card from the Lore Seeker booster pack. Then open the new booster pack. You may look at the cards in that pack, but you can't draft any cards from it. You'll pass the new booster pack as normal. That was very generous of you.
In other words, no one in their right mind would use this. Why add another pack to the draft just for an 8th pick? If I build a cube, and I had this in there, you would get first pick.
That part refers to taking a Lore Seeker pack with Agents of Acquisitions. If you do, and you choose to add another pack, you won't get any other cards from the new pack. If you draft a Lore Seeker normally, you'll get the first pick.
I don't really see the logic in placing the most monocolor-centric block in decades (Theros)

That's because Shadowmoor was actually supposed to be a monocolorr matters block. Most people just interpreted it as multicolor because of the high hybrid count.
And you didn't explain how the automoton would work smoothly. When you draft each player can be easily be a different number of cards deep into the draft, especially if packs are stacking up at one or more player, and the only way to prove where you're at is to show your cards faceup. So a judge would in fact need to get involved, and go through all your drafted cards to determine the truth and bring the draft to a screeching halt.
You have to draft the automaton face up anyways. When you do, just count the number of cards you've drafted so far.
P.S: Also, I think, this set may just not be for you, if you think about it so competitively.

What a horrible stupid idea. Did anyone see the Dungeon and Dragons movie? Yeah, wow what a waste of money and time, you don't have to turn every property ever into a movie. Hollywood has shown an increasing level of lack of imagination, turning the convoluted and complex and at times down right awful and silly storyline of MTG into a film franchise is dumb. Yes there are some good characters and stories, but much of MTG storyline is so intertwined that you would need countless films to make even a fragment of it relate-able to an audience that has never even heard of Urza or Karn or Nicol Bolas.
The most one can expect is some half-assed made up story involving some of the names of characters from MTG with absolutely no likeness to them (sans Dungeons & Dragons the movie).
Seriously between the silver minted "coins" and now this movie deal, is Hasbro really that desperate to sell out their number one product? A movie is not cheap to make and if it bombs it can carry serious monetary back-lash.
Also I see these attempts as harmful to the actual core card game itself. When you start selling too many items with just the image of your core product in the hopes of draining funds from that product's fans, then the fans run out of money to support the core product. Ultimately hurting the core products sales and decreasing that core product's value in the eyes of its fans thereby decreasing its image overall.
Fantasy movies have been getting more popular (and thus getting bigger budgets) since the D&D movie. I seriously doubt it will be as bad.
Btw, I love that the press release also mentioned fan favorite old stories.
Another scenario: take Mizzium Mortars, modify/extend the art, and try to sell it as your own work. Is it really yours or is it an altered Mizzium Mortars? Remove the Mizzium Mortars artwork from the card and what do you have? Copyrighted material from WotC (symbols, text box, etc.) and some spit paint by you. You rely on the original artwork to pass off your 'modifications' and therefor are using copyrighted material - of which you have no rights to use - for profit.

Yes, they are often using the original art as a starting point, but everything they add is their own creation (unless, of course, they stole the artwork they add and print it onto the cards). They're not trying to sell the art itself, they're trying to sell the card they own, along with a modification they did themselves.
The hybrid cards are intended to be both, not one or the other.
Actually, it's the other way around. That's the entire point of hybrid cards in the first place. They do something either color can do. Granted, sometimes, they slightly stretch it, but still, disallowing them in monocolor decks goes against the design of hybrids.
I feel the rules should allow cards, if you can completely use them in your colors. This would affect cards like the bringers, Quenchable Fire, most hybrid cards, but not stuff like Wild Research or Mistmeadow Witch.
I'm actually fine with the current rules and don't know of a card I'd immediately include in one of my decks, but I think it would make more sense and it would more closely match the intent of the cards.
I think the first distinction we have to make is what exactly casual means. I personally define playing casually as "not playing a tournament". Playing in a tournament and playing casually have different goals. The main goal of playing in a tournament is to win. The main goal of plaing casually is to have fun. This is true for every single game in existence. If your casual players are nor having fun, they'll stop playing you game. It's as simple as that. There is, however a big difference to what players perceive as fun. To some players, winning is the prime way to have. To other players, durdly 10-card combos are the prime way to have fun. Both are valid. To ensure that the group has fun, you either have to play in a group that shares your mindset or adjust your mindset accordingly. By playing Armageddon in the other group, you essentially didn't just destroy their lands, you destroyed their chance of having fun. Now, playing Armageddon is completely fine by itself. You just have to ensure that your playgroup is fine with it. You also asked why you should ensure the fun of others. The answe: When somebody isn't having fun, nobody is. By playing Armageddon, you ruined their fun. They complained and by complaining, they ruined your fun. The only problem is that their idea of fun wasn't compatible with your idea of fun.
Well, I just asked magicjudge.tumbler.com about Voice of All and Concerted Effort and apparently CE actually gives the protection you chose with VoA. I'd assume it works the same way with this guy.
