Frankly speaking, the deck would have serious problems in competitive play. But since we're talking about casual here, I think this deck should be quite fun to play. Planar Cleansing is REALLY weird though, what are you planning to do with it? destroy the Grappling hook you just dropped? If you're looking for control elements, I would suggest just playing more targeted removal.
I would think that walking atlas might be potentially better if you are running cards like mysteries of the deep, or any colour intensive cards, which I don't think would present much of a problem any since you're running mono blue.
I would still say go with chalice though, as walking atlas strictly better only some of the time and chalice is better most of the time.
Totally forgot about tome scour. I think I'll try running
-4 howling mine + 4 tome scour
-3 Font of Mythos +3 Cancel/Agony warp
I think I'll play around a bit with Traumatize and Echoes first before I decide if want to cut them though.
Sledge seems to slow the deck down a bit actually, the deck wants to drop as many critters as possible by turn 4 and sledge basically takes up turn three when you could actually be dropping 1-3 new critters on the board. Then again, sledge come in beautifully against certain decks so maybe sledge should be in the sideboard?
The deck seems to be a bit prone to mana problems though, so maybe lynxes aren't such a good idea? Then again, I haven't really tested this deck so I can't really say.:-/
My first deck was a GB elf warrior deck from morningtide. It was originally the morningtide warrior precon but a few of the more experienced players in the store I play in were really enthusiastic in helping a new player such as myself and they helped me build the deck up to be quite strong with prefects and paragons and such. I even got two free gilt leaf palaces!
Turns out the deck was quite strong as I actually won the first tournament I played in.
I've been playing luminarch bant fog for awhile now and found that it's not really viable in current standard because it commits the cardinal sin of any standard deck in the current meta, it loses to jund.
Jund simply stomps the deck by virtue of blightnings and maelstrom pulses. Blightnings strip you of your fogs and maelstrom pulses kill jace or luminarch ascension. After some testing I found that the only way to actually stand a chance against Jund is to play Fonts and howling mines to offset blightning and provide extra maelstrom targets so they won't target your ascension.
Thanks for the info. Do you know the name of the store in Bishan? And define HDB. . . Sorry, just arrived two weeks ago and didn't really have much time to go out and explore with bridging classes and all.
As for the playgroup, what kinda formats do you guys play? I'm more into type two and draft since I don't really have any extended cards outside the lorwyn block, even those I left back home.

I'm living in Clementi and don't have access to a car, but the MRT station is close by and there are multiple bus stops near the hostel I'm in.
Can anyone give me some directions? Maps would be nice too.
Merry Christmas!
