I feel like we skipped a step. A 4/4 trampler for 2G is nuts and I’d take a card like that for my cube to push green aggro. But here we have something with not just one, but two extra abilities? I’m really conflicted about this one.
Personally, I don’t particularly like including cards with extraneous text, so I may end up passing on this.
Holy hell this is a great cube card. I personally don’t run any flip cards and have been waiting for both an aggro 2 drop and artifact/enchantment removal. The proliferate ability is just icing on the cake
Wow! That bounce ability is awesome. Could this really be the end of Man-o’-War in cube?
The other abilities are not nearly as good on their own, but they are far from flavour text. The options this card provides all have common use cases. Especially shines in a flicker deck where that flexibility in etb effects is highly valued.
I’ve been a huge fan of Cloudkin Seer, I’ll definitely be picking up a copy of this to test out. Just not sure what to cut for it, there are a lot of good white 3 drops
Personally, I’ve wanted proclamation of rebirth to find a home in my cube for a while now. Both as a sideboard card that aggro could use against sweepers and for the synergy it has with stax/sacrifice type decks. I think this fills the role so much better. I will be testing this. I don’t expect too much, but I’m expecting to like it better than sevinne’s reclamation that has felt pretty lacklustre so far.
I think this makes the cut solely on the basis of being a Bonesplitter clone. 1 to equip +2 power has proven to be extremely solid. The exile clause is unfortunate, there's usually a lot of reasons to want cards in your graveyard (e.g., delve, recursive creatures, reanimation effects, Eternal Witness, Scavenging Ooze, delerium), but for most white or red aggro decks this is gas.
I don't see the ability soup clause coming into play very often, but if they keep power-creeping 1 and 2 drops this will only become better over time. I think if you're in red, getting haste on it is probably pretty easy for most cubes but the other abilities will be cube-dependent. I see it as an incidental bonus rather than something to build around or rely on.
But overall, yeah, this card likely gets a comfortable spot in cubes of any size.
I wish Moon-Circuit Hacker was just a little more pushed, I'd really like more interesting mono u creatures for tempo decks. Thousand-Faced Shadow is in the same vein and would be cool if it's baseline wasn't just a Flying Men or if the ninjutsu was less to activate. I might still test both of these creatures just to see how they do in practice.
I'm in the same boat. I have 270 unpowered cube and that means my list is super tight. I'm not really looking for more removal and this doesn't strictly beat anything that I'm already running. The big ticket for me is that this is an instant unconditional 2cmc removal spell, if I decide to push spells matter into white I could see myself potentially running this.
Overall I think this is a great card to have as a option for any cube designer. Happy to see it printed.
Woohoo! This is just what my unpowered cube has been looking for. Too bad about non-legendary, probably won’t be worth it for a lot of cubes already running animate dead. For us it only misses Elesh, Atarka, and Emrakul
I'm slamming this into my unpowered cube and hoping for the best. I'm always on the hunt for more playable green noncreature spells and I'm gonna take a chance on this one.
Huh... I don’t know what to think about this one. I feel stumped a little. How good is a 2 mana 2/1 menace lifelink?
My favourite thing about this card is its modality. It can fill a creature slot in aggro, it can support the reanimate and sneak attack decks, or it can play a versatile role in midrange (where it probably shines the most)
But is it good enough? Is it helping the cube environment? Or is it clunky? Is it a trap?
WOW, they actually did it. FOUR solid playable 2 drop creatures, each one in a different colour. Just what my cube needed. This set is a home run for cube already
