For store owners, it really depends. Some stores don't mind holding power, but generally you won't make 5k in a few days. You'll make 5k in a few months to a couple years. It's not an insignificant amount of money to tie up.
I think 80% of ebay/tcglow prices would be achievable from a store. Considering the effort saved, it might be worth it for you (ebay is also taking 13% fees and you have to ship it).
At this point last year, Theros was actually worth MORE than Khans is worth right now. Khans as a total set at TCG mid is worth $322 a week before release.
Theros was worth $355 a week before it's release. Considering how much more valuable the lands are in this set, I wouldn't be surprised to see prices continue to rise this week. Obviously the won't hold, but there's still certainly room for the set to move upward.
That's not actually an accurate comparison. Because more of Theros's value was in the mythics, a set of theros was worth more. Because more of Khan's value is in the rares, a box will be worth more on average.
It simply doesn't look that different from normal ones. If you can find someone who really likes it, more power to you. Misprints prices are mainly bases on how unique they look.
Now we're down to 19 cards. 8 of these cards are used pretty much exclusively for casual. Which leaves only 11 multi colored cards that are $15 or more due to competitive play.
I'm curious how long (perhaps forever) the blue fetches will be higher if they aren't as heavily played in standard. The upcoming standard environment seems blue hostile to me, but we'll see. I'm of the opinion that the majority of the preorders are from eternal players. Later on, more of the demand should come from standard.
Miracles is UWr, so esper stoneblade or equivalent was what I was referring to. That amount of money (and the fact that they will already have the fetches from standard) will make a difference to some people. How much is another question, it certainly doesn't make it affordable, only 25% less painful.
I don't believe Sarkhan or Sorin will be over $15. Hell, they might end up under $10. I doubt any other card besides these two and fetches will be over $5.
