I am not sure of your total experience, but with three color sets make sure you prioritize fixing. Also with sealed over draft, it is more "bomb" driven and the games tend to go longer. Most importantly, pick your clan and have fun! We all like to win, but prereleases are about the experience, make sure and have fun!
After proposing it to him we find out it was a direct port of his rotation Selesnya agro deck. Still waiting on the "New Solid 1 Drop", we are looking at Gnarled Scarhide in that spot but we are not sure we want a black 1 drop in the list. I am really torn on Rakshasa Deathdealer as the "New Solid 2 Drop", it feels like Putrid Leech but I am not sure, needs testing. At first I was leaning towards Ajani, but I think this deck will be going wider than taller so Abzan Ascendancy might be the better call, it is at least in the SB against End Hostilities decks. The last direct port is Utter End over Banishing Light, I know a lot of people are down on this card because it costs 4, but in testing it has been doing very well for us. We have also found that T4 is the new T3 and T5 is the new T4, so I really expect Utter End AND End Hostilities to be big players. Let me know what you think and I hope to contribute to the discussion. Thanks!
Dont like the specter atm. While it has its uses against the mirror its not something I want to play against monoblue its gonna be Domesticated. As well it makes the board have to be crowded with Lifebane Zombies. Lifebane Zombie is just to strong not to play 4 in the 75.
Devour Flesh lifegain is a huge drawback when so many matchups are a pure race. Prefair Bile Blight / Ultimate Price main or Doom Blade / Pharicka's Cure in the board. Devour Flesh isnt a reliable removal for baron. Duress, thoughtseize, sin collector and ofc other creatures / mutavaults on the battlefeild just make the removal into a joke. Found the best way to beat baron is with snatching it from the hand with thoughtseize / lifebane or race with Whip / Erebos. While Bile Blight is lackluster against monogreen Devour flesh is even worse. With 8 mana creatures + bts Flesh isnt gonna hit anything useful. While bileblight can hit double mana elf draws or the BTS explosive draws.
Found the worst matchup to be GW with Voice. Selesnya Charm ruins Desecrator Demon and makes blocks miserable. Greymerchant and pack rat are slow and bad in the opening hand but at the same time they are most of the time the way to victory. Without maindeck Lifebane zombies I dont see how you really can beat it in game 1 ever. Specter gets outclassed so fast by flash / trampler 5/5 for 4, 4/4 for 3, 3/3 for 2 or pro multicolored for 1. This matchup is a race. They are more heavy on threat then you and have a lower curve with high power creatures.
For the mirror match there are a couple of keycards to the matchup in Underworld Connection, Pack Rat, Grey Merchant, Erebos and even Liliana Vess and Soul of Innistrad has show great promise in the mirror.
Against monoblue there is really only 3 important cards you need to get rid of asap Domestication (if playing specters), Thassa, Master of waves and Bident. Both Waves and Bident can pretty much be a loss on the spot. Geting your specter domesticated is about the worst thing that can happend in the matchup. Its either instant 2 for 1 or 5 extra devotion and card engine, ye thats very bad. You are the control most of the time in this matchup. If you get to be the aggro its pretty much a win.
Jund Monsters: You are the aggressor in this matchup, its just a matter of time before their planeswalkers, polukranos or dragons takes over the game. Lifebane and Desecration Demon shines in this matchup. Just as many other matchup packrat can end it quickly, just not often the turn 2 rat. After board monsters tend to put in alot of removal and walkers so Duress gets very strong in the matchup. They also tend to board out rampager to make lifebane bit worse.
Against uw-x duress effects, erebos, underworld connection leads to many victories. Most of the time geting them caugh out of responces to lategame packrat with mutas have won most of my matches againt them. Leaving in Bile Blights after the board its one of the way to beat Elspeth. Lifebane also gets by elspeth tokens and mutavuals and can remove archangel of thune that some uw players might board in. Planacleansing matchup is alot easier to beat then the Detetion Sphere version. Pack Rat punish the cleansing one alot.
Against R-w burn Pharicka's Cure and Greymerchants are your best friend, while thoughtseize might see as a liability remember Skullcrack does way more damage then the 2 lifeloss. Against boss sligh you need to have opening hands filled with removal and hopefully a drown in sorrow. Atm my version Im able to board into 14 removal: 4 Hero's Downfall, 3 Bileblight, 1 Ulitmate Price, 3 Doomblade and 3 Pharicka's Cure. The Red matchups you really need alot of removal and are most of the time won by Grey Merchants and Whip of Erebos. Neither Lifebane zombie or Specter is any good in the matchup. Both Enable Searing Blood.
I have been reading through this thread and pondering fresh cube ideas. I was leaning towards a core set cube, but then came up with an idea for a "Battle Cruiser Magic" cube, which led to picking some mechanics which then led to Theros (mostly the set, dipping to BNG and JOU) and Rise of the Eldrazi only cube, where I ended up with the idea of "Gods vs Eldrazi" cube. I am starting on it on my other monitor as I post. I think there should be good synergy and will feel pretty balanced. Totem Armor, Bestow, Level Up, Monstrosity, Eldrazi, Devotion and possibly Heroic. Also I have been having a blast with non-singleton cubes (I know it is blasphemy to some, it was to me too before I tried it), so I am going to plan on that. Ideas and inspirations encouraged! Thanks!
This is a cube I have been working on since conspiracy started to be spoiled, it sounds like it might be similar to your thoughts. It plays heavily into the multiplayer and politics theme. http://cubetutor.com/visualspoiler/12415
All that is missing is the conspiracy cards to be a 360 cube. It has roughly 6-8 arch types and some skill testing alt win cons. It is designed to be lenticular, obvious arch types for newer players and more advanced/subtle arch types for more experienced players. I am thinking about adding another pack (3 singelton rares, 3 pair of uncommons and 2 three of a kind commons) to each color to up the complexity.
Does anyone have any examples or any of their ideas in lists? We are creating a VERY multiplayer,VERY politics themed Conspiracy Cube. It will be a non-singleton 360 cube with 3 of each chosen common, 2 of each chosen uncommon and 1 of each mythic/rare. Our group of 6 ranges from young teens that only play with us to MTGO grinders. It is built to order some pizzas and make a night of it. Here is the start of our rough draft http://www.cubetutor.com/visualspoiler/12415. I decided to try and provide context for my cube so that you can understand some of our choices. I know we are not going to all have the same ideas and goals for our cubes, so with context it easier understand motivations with out judging each other. I would love to see all of your ideas and rough drafts, so we might inspire each other.
I am not currently looking to post the videos, so I am less interested in how to do the voice over (however if you want to share this info please do) and more interested in what is needed to record video of my games. Thanks in advance!
I am going to fire a queue this evening and would like to hear any insight on the current draft trends. I am interested in any insight, however I have googled a bunch of old stuff on the format so if anyone has drafted it this time around, what is open? What is never open? Again any insight is appreciated, thanks!
So I played this at GP Dallas this past weekend. Didn't do too well- 2-3 drop- but that was more because I hadn't really practiced with the deck as much as I should have.
Rarely felt like I was completely out of a game except when playing mono blue. They always had tidebinder mage on my elvish mystic / DRS to stunt my mana development and then I got buried by their card draw off bident.
2 matchups were embarassingly easy: monoR aggro and GR monstrous
1 matchup I lost due to poor mulligans: Wr humans
Esper control seemed winnable, but my opponent happened to find all 4 of his detention spheres game 1 and then enough answers to squeak by game 2 (I was a turn too late on the double fling with Jarad for the win)
I think I'll be going up to 20 lands and some monoU hate in the board. I'm still not sure about Korozda Guildmage, but the intimidate would've come in handy several times. Slum Reaper was for the hexproof matchup. Skylasher seems like it would be reasonable in the board and I know Conley put up a hypothetical sideboard containing 4 of 'em.
I would love to hear more about how certain cards are performing, if you have time. Thanks!
Would you consider adding two moreLotleth Troll, why or why not?
For those of you that are new to the deck or only know it through this thread, check out the work that Conley Woods, the creator of the deck has done. Watching the deck videos will answer a lot of questions about the card choices and numbers. http://www.channelfireball.com/author/conley-woods/
I found Drown in Filth MD unnecessary in my meta, but definitely want it SB. There aren't many creatures in standard that are bigger than what we can throw out there on turn 3-4-5. I found the addition of the 3rd Demon MD along with 2 Lotleth gives this deck some solid evasive creatures for Nighthowler's bestow, and the regen on Troll is so good in the format right now. Rot Farm is another yard enabler who obviously plays well with Troll, and mid-late game with Jared is a recurring 4 to the face along with more yard fuel.
I have 1 less mana source than Conley, but less than 20 lands scares me so I am running a 20/12 land/mana dork split.
I know you said you cut DiF for meta reasons, but if you were to keep them in, what would you remove?
I love DBC in the list. Bring the second in against control?
How is Nylea doing for you? Seems like pretty solid tech, have you tried her MB? I am also really interested in trying her bow, thoughts?

Will you share your MD and SB?

Is the third MB Shadowborn Demon increasing consistency?
Do you feel like you need to keep Manaweft Sliver in as a 13th mana accelerator?
Some decks are dropping Whip of Erebos completely, how has the singleton worked for you? How often is it stuck in your hand?
What do you think of Deadbridge Chant? In my light testing, it has been amazing, I have went to two in the SB.
Slum Reaper seems like awesome tech against Blood Baron of Vizkopa and devotion decks. How has he been working for you?
Any reason you like Gift of Orzhova over Nylea's Disciple?
I know you said you cut DiF for meta reasons, but if you were to keep them in, what would you remove?
