I think BB is to suicidal for us imho. If anything I think we rearrange and set up as the opposition with pulse and decay we already have a mainboard package to dealing with BB. Plus the Olivia builds could turn BB into a way to just kill decks playing BB even faster. In short just because its powerful and in our colors doesn't mean we have to run it. There just isn't room in modern decks for Bob and BB in the same deck you'll just bleed yourself out to fast.
What happens if I have both Sen Triplets and Omniscience out on the field? can I play cards from my opponents hand for free? I'm guessing no due to wording but wanted to double check.
The thing is though in legacy no one really uses that basics. Honestly i never see them except for merfolk and soul sisters. And ramping your opponent doesn't matter once your lock them. Heck rock lends explorer to its name in some cases. the down side rarely hurts you plus the deck that for sure don't run basics (such as tendrils and dredge) you want to be as fast as possible. Plus if you do face a deck that would benefit from explore it make sideboarding that much simpler.
since you are using sac outlets anyways Veteran Explorer would do well for you if you adjust your land accordingly. Turn 1 explorer, turn two drop a sac to search the Rector would be great, turn 3 sac and play parasite. Agreed trinket would be good maybe even pick up tops if you are gonna have them that way you don't accidentally put it decree in hand and have it be useless. don't think sanctum is as good since sacing is uncounterable anyways since most cards use it as a cost (cabal and intent). Plus I would up intent to 4.
As a dredge player telling you this not only yes but I would recommend either leylines or surgical extractions cause both ruin dredge and have other decks that they hurt.
They absolutely due not they do not enter the battlefield. Its more like they are created on it by the trigger. So yeah they don't trigger flayer. There are multiple threads on in the rulings section if you wish to hear from people more acquainted with the rules than myself. On another note guys the tournament i asked advice for didn't get to see what you guys suggested before going so took as posted and went 3 and 2 so meh. I made your tweeks and went second at a larger local tournament yesterday so thanks for the advice
Hey guys so I got a large tournament tomorrow and was gonna try the flayer main board. Have been testing it out and it seems good to that it can also bring down threats if losing your bridges is worth it. but here's the list I planned on running. Not entirely sure about the dark blast but I've been seeing them everywhere lately for dredge. any advise?
I understand what you mean especially since both those cards have gatherer ruling stating they don't work the way that the people you mentioned say they do. Thankfully my LGS has a computer for looking up rulings so its not been a problem, though I have had to show people rulings in non-judged events before. The problem is that you can never get past people not thinking through grammar or not knowing the actual rules of magic.
Personally when some one infers that you had no skill to pull off a turn 1 kill is BS most of the turn 1 storm decks take a considerable about so as not to fizzle right before going off. I've seen guys stop playing those decks just because they kept having that problem. At the same time as a dredge player if I'm arrogant an just try to go off with out thinking even game one depending on the deck it becomes auto lose. And while luck does play a role in all magic its how you use it. If they don't want a game where an opponent can get lucky go play chess.
Unaki you sir are an example for others to follow imo. You lost so you try to better yourself that's what people should be doing. And I understand people like the guy you are talking about my brother is exactly that way its made it hard for him to play magic because he can't handle loses. And the sad fact is in magic regardless of how good you are you lose eventually.
At the moment is about 60% to 70% Stoneblade (WU or bant) then its Merfolk. After that its a few creature decks (GW beaters, Zoo), Rock and Affinity. Then there's me as the single dredge guy.
For me my top champs were Fires of UndeathTragic SlipUndying Evil and Feed the Pack.
Feed the Pack was a champ it saved me from a pretty nasty 2life left scenario and won me the game multiple times. Slip was nice for all those pesky indestructible and undying evil worked great with my pitchburn devils. Good old Jund colors.
I mean sure it hoses creatures and spells in the graveyard, but what about the loam decks?
I'm certain people will not use 7-8 cards (4 of these new ones and 3 gy hate in faeries) to fight against loam, reanimator, and dredge.
Don't be so sure there is plenty of sideboard slots that can be thrown dredges way depending on the meta and this really only gives all the decks that use to run relic and crypt a strictly better option which while it isn't as rough as the leyline is probably more likely to hit the field seeing as it doesn't require opening hand and requires more than a bounce. Fact of the matter is those of us dredge players who are in small group metas are in for a rough ride if this sticks around in legacy. that being said its probably gonna get banned seeing as not just the graveyard decks gets hosed but any green sun NO or such decks are also going to have problems with it. Plus in all honesty who would you rather side for dredge reanimator and NO or loam?
