It's interesting that Nahiri is getting so much credit for the Hedrons, since prior to these two Uncharted Realms, it seemed like most of the credit went to Ugin. Perilous Vault, Eye of Ugin.
She was always the one who had made the hedrons.
Ugin was the one responsible for the binding, the hedrons were the BATTERIES for the spells. They perpetuated them, empowered them, etc etc.
Put it like this, Nahiri made the bars, Ugin made the lock and key.
Geokinesis has shown up in White before. Just as air is the domian of Blue and Green, so is earth the domain of White and Red.
I hope we get to see more "elemental walkers" bewsides Chandra and Kiora.
Erm... Koth and Nissa?
Heck, I wouldn't even say Kiora is that much of an elementalist. She's primarily concerned with creatures, even if she did cast a Whelming Wave, it isn't like she's throwing around hydrosurge or deluge as well.
Considering the build up as an anti-Bolas, Eldrazi binding, human helping Dragon; I guess you will be relieved soon enough.
There is some storyline material from Time Spiral depicting him as a arrogant murderous jerk however. My bet is that this material is now obsolete (and maybe forgotten) though.
Even if he is benevolent, there are two things to consider.
1) Still a dragon. Probably not concerned about the individual and probably still possibly a jerk.
2) Worked with Sorin. Not what you would call a saint.
I'm not super familiar with Zendikar's story, so I can't speak to whether or not that happened. I think it's extremely likely they'll cross paths, insofar as they are both seeking Ugin (albeit for different reasons).
Unless Sarkhan shows up right after this story, I kind of doubt their paths will cross.
There's just not a lot of reason for the two to team up even if they have similar interests, the goal isn't quite the same.
But what she found was that security and normality weren't attainable. She accepted that they were not due to her in the Ordeal of Erebos.
[quote]If she had found either of those things, I would agree, but what she found instead was the strength of a hero. The Campbellian monomyth will lead her next to transformation, and then atonement. Given the role that Phyrexia has played in her life, it feels like a natural progression for her to return to New Phyrexia transformed by her experience on Theros, and to achieve her atonement in fighting against them.
Pft, that's suicide. There really isn't anything she can reasonable DO against Phyrexia. There's no amount of transformation that she would be capable of that would put her in a position to fight against them in a meaningful way.
To end her story on Theros makes no real sense. There's nothing left on the plane for her to return to, but there are conflicts in the Multiverse that she left before they were resolved.
By the same merit, there's nothing left for her to do against Phyrexia either. There's nothing of Mirrodin left, there's no real conflict there left to resolve either.
I've never really understood that argument. Isn't that like saying that they've distanced Gideon from the Eldrazi by his involvement with the Boros?
It really isn't the same thing.
Elspeth's involvement was tied up into trying to stop New Phyrexia from emerging, but Koth was the one doing the recruiting for that mission. Elspeth got drawn in, but even though she hates Phyrexia, she's in no position to actually deal with them. Unlike Gideon, when she landed elsewhere, she tried to put her experiences behind her because there wasn't anything she could do to change it all.
Gideon went to Ravnica looking for help. He got distracted, sure, but ultimately he was there because of what his arc goal was.
Besides, Phyrexia came up several times in Elspeth's story on Theros. From her experience leaving New Phyrexia, to the vision that led her to kill Daxos, to the images in the block reels, and to Kruphix's Insight, Phyrexia kept coming up in relation to Elspeth.
In terms of her past, but she didn't dwell on those things. She wasn't on Theros to look for some way she could fight Phyrexia or rally herself against them. She was there to put everything behind her, to find some semblance of security and normality.
Unfortunately, the case is that she is there, in the Underworld, with a spark. Doug has specifically called out that, if she finds a way out of the Underworld, she would be able to planeswalk again. That setup can realistically only mean one thing.
I assume you mean this. But no, he doesn't say that she would be able to planeswalk again. He frames it as a possibility, but that's pretty far from what I would call definitive though. The way it is structured says if she ever wants to, not that she necessarily could.
We'll have to see what they do. They clearly planned this out.
I really hope they have her come back as a creature and tie her to Theros for the rest of time. She just... quite frankly doesn't NEED to do anything more. Her story arc doesn't feel like it has any more legs now that they've distanced her from the Phyrexians by her involvement with Theros.
b) The new standard block structure means that during 2016 the last two sets of KoT block will be standard legal while KoT set itself will not be legal. That means if the enemy fetches were in one of the last two sets, it would cause an imbalance in the mana bases.
I'm... not sure that's how that is going to work. I'm pretty sure that Khans will be legal until the entire thing rotates out.
I might agree if it had been a true sacrifice, a story that wasn't an exploration of the Campbellian Hero's Journey, and a world without a Grecian underworld.
As it is, however, I feel that leaving her dead would fail to fulfil her character arc, the narrative of her time on Theros, and the expectations created by the nature of the world.
There is the fact she is carving herself a Returned mask. If we see her come back, there's a strong chance she'll be a zombie, and regardless of a grecian underworld or not, that means her spark is forfeit.
Her spark really shouldn't survive the trip out of the underworld in any condition. Hell, it comes down to the fact it shouldn't have survived the trip TO the underworld. I'm not against her coming back. I'm against her coming back as a planeswalker.

Dragons are exceedingly long lived, but they aren't immortal.
@Bolas: The Eldrazi were sealed six THOUSAND years ago. She's, in no way, young.
There aren't any. It's a case of story and gameplay segregation.
No. There are just oracles around. It's anybody that can see the future, no big.
