@bauerboss As someone who has over 1000 cards for various decks sleeved with kmc perfect fits inside dragon shields, I can verfy that the fit is much more snug than ultra pro's.
I end up not being able to use 15 or so kmc perfect fits out of every pack of 100 due to them being just slightly too big to fit in the dragon shields.
Urzas, your article is written from an incredibly one sided point of view (obviously, it is YOUR point of view). It appears that you begrudge people for enjoying these promos. You speak with almost disdain for a subsection of the player base who enjoyed playing to receive these promos.
You state that people ar threatening to quit magic. This is false for the VAST majority of people in magic and on this thread. As I stated earlier, people are saying they will quit SANCTIONED magic and play more and more magic at the kitchen table with their friends, rather than attending FNM's. This will have the effect of reducing attendence in a small (but in some areas noticable) way and will act on the opposite of what Hasbro wants (more people in stores, buying magic boosters).
You mention instant gratification, but MPR was as far from instant gratification as possible and this thread shows that people still enjoyed it.
You also speak as if we are guaranteed a replacement scheme of some sory when this is patently false. Wizards said that "In this case we are redirecting these resources to increase our player support for local organized play programs". That is obviously not a promise of any more promo cards or, in fact, a promise of anything. Based on evidence from big corporations and the amount of money saving measures made recently by Wotc, it is just as likely we will receive nothing.
As far as I'm concerned, and quite a few on this thread, it was nice to be thanked for playing the game, thanked for being a customer and attending low level tournaments. If there is going to be a replacement then fantastic, but it would have been nice if it had been announced, or pledged or promised or anything else other than Wotc's deliberately unintelligable market speak above. It's exactly like Maro's original quotes about mythics and utility and power. He clearly gave himself 'legal' wiggle room to make almost any position other than literally only 15 tournament cards being in the set and all being mythic fit in with it.
And no, the sky is not falling, we dont deserve anything, we shouldnt complain, we should stop stop playing if we don't like it, and all the other crap that people spout because other people don't like that. Complaining about the complainers is just as bad as complaining in the first place. Most of us dislike the changes wizards have been making for legitimate reasons and are not just whining for no reason.
no, your not just whining for no reason, your finding any reason you can to complain.
I went 5-0 for 1st place at my local game day last night with elves.
I was just hoping to make top 8 and get the tempered steel, but I ended up with the tempered steel and 16 packs
A funny thing that occured was that only 1 person signed up with a Phyexian deck, so he won the prize for having best record among phyrexian decks with a 0-5 record lol
I'm fine with proxies when playing a player casually, or for playtesting, but I wouldnt want to be in a tournament where proxies are allowed.
It's true that Mtg isnt really a good game for people with limited income. When I approach a friend that may be interested in learning the game, one of the things I consider is how much disposable income they have. I have friends that I would never suggest the game to, simply because they dont have much money.
I am not made of money either though, so I play within my budget. I have fun playing standard, but I wont ever be able to drop the kind of cash that power 9 would cost, so I dont play vintage.
How does double strike interact with totem armor? If i deal lethal damage in first stike phase, the umbra gets removed and then normal damage occurs right?
no, a legendary permanant may not exist on the battlefield at the same time as another legendary permanant with the same name. The eldrazi have different names, so they can be out at the same time, just not 2 of the same eldrazi.
with the eldrazi being able to reshuffle the entire graveyard back into the library, it doesnt seem very good. I for one will stick a single eldrazi titan in any sideboard I have just to prevent mill from being a win-con.
playing for possible first place in the last round of a recent FNM...I had my opponent at 2 life...he was gonna swing for lethal on his next turn...I cast sign in blood on myself thinking to myself that I need to pull an answer...Before I even drew the cards I realized what I had just done. I died a little that day
We can make them swing into our baneslayers and persecutors with his +2, and chump block their big creature and destroy it with gideon on your turn with his -2.
Also I can use a stoneforge mystic to grab a basilisk collar and chump block their threats.
After a Day of judgment, you can turn him into a 6/6 with his zero ability and possibly pump with elspeth for some huge damage

If you want to play in a tournament, shell out the money for the real cards just like tens of thousands or more have done before you.
Anyone who stops going to sanctioned events because of this needs to re-think why they are even playing the game at all.
