maybe if the people in charge before hadn't screw their budget up so bad (2 billion dollar deficit) then well this wouldn't have been needed in the first place.
Source on this? The number I've seen is $130 million, which Governor Scott is adding about another $120 million to with his pair of corporate tax breaks.
With NXT bringing in new faces at a record pace, are the days of sudden new faces in WWE over? I'm referring to appearances like Sheamus and Mcintyre. Would they have just been thrown on NXT when they were so clearly beyond that level?
I get the feeling that Sheamus and McIntyre would have probably been thrown onto NXT as well. Neither of them struck me as more immediately "ready for it" than Wade Barrett, so if the WWE wanted to debut them now and push them, they'd put them on NXT and make sure they're spotlighted week in and week out.
That said, this may or may not be the last season of NXT. The current rumor I hear is that they're looking for another network to air it on when Smackdown moves to SyFy, and if they can get one they'll want a season 3. But... is there really enough talent left in FCW that it'd be a good idea, or are we just gonna have eight horrendously green guys?
I guess Joe Doering is in FCW, so maybe him and seven horrendously green guys.
EDIT: Richie Steamboat is also pretty good I hear.
He's certainly not the best at promos, but he had some pretty good mic work a few times during his feud with Punk.
They have to literally alter what they call the championship whenever he holds the title.
Did they really? Plus I'm not really sure how this constitutes that big a problem.
He's supposed to be a face, yet he mocked the championship by joking about giving it up.
Still don't see your problem with this. He talked up how vicious the attack was, how it was seemingly enough to make someone unable to compete, but he still promised to compete. It's almost like he cares about the title and wants to defend it even if he's been hurt.
He's taken away the one good thing about himself, how good he is in the ring, by performing his moves so recklessly that he caved a man's orbital bone in.
And there's a fair point. However, I don't quite think it's enough to damn a wrestler as much as you're damning Rey.
Ret pulled another stupid when he joked about how he was going to forfeit the title. I'm sorry, but unless you're one of the main heels, that's a completely stupid thing to do. When wrestlers have had to actually forfeit titles, it's been a huge thing. Plus, it completely insults the championship on his shoulder when he decided to use it as a prop for a joke.
Now you're just being hard on Rey Rey for the sake of it. The message of his promo was "Wow, Jack, your constant attacks have worn me down and broken me to the point where I can't defend the title anymore, you've really beat me... yeah, haha, not. You're gonna have to try a lot harder to take this title away from me."
I understand some of the hate for Rey (he's kinda rickety and dangerous on occasion), but the level it reaches on this forum is kinda absurd. Psssst, he had a really good match with Swagger yesterday. Psssst, kids love the hell out of him and he sells an insane amount of merchandise. Psssst, he's had many great matches over the last few years (e.g. with Punk, Jericho, Morrison, Bourne).
So why in the world would the WWE want to push him and put a title on him???
P.S. I'm a huge Kane mark and got an extremely pleasant surprise when he won the title.
I don't see what the hate for Lucky Cannon is all about. He's not polished or anything, but he's got a good story to build on and pretty solid ring skills from what I saw. Helps to be carried by Rhodes obviously.
He did better last show and won me over a little bit. But if you can find it online, look at his tag match against Kofi and Michael. His offense is literally something like four shoulderblocks and four headlock takedowns, none of which looked particularly crisp. It's like he had no idea what to do in the ring and was just completely blanking.
That said, you're right in that he has a good story. Plus he seems like a likable sort of guy and has cool t-shirts. Gap between him and Husky isn't as big anymore, though Husky also got cooler this week for beating up Striker.
I know everyone here's all "never ever play White at any time ever!" about ROE limited, but for Christ's sake you don't even need to be in white in anything more than a splash capacity to play Dawnglare Invoker.
This pick is so blindingly obvious that I'm going to vote cake. That is how silly this poll is.
- People should watch Death Before Dishonor VIII. ROH has been disappointing me lately in a lot of respects, but this show was amazing. gofightlive.tv is where you want to go. It's $15 for like four hours of great matches. Buy it. Watch it. If you like wrestling, you have no excuse not to.
- After the second episode of NXT, the only real things I learned are that Cody Rhodes can be an awesome heel, and that Lucky Cannon sucks. Seriously, Lucky is awful. More shoulderblocks and headlock takedowns? Keep trying, junior.
My rookie rankings:
Kaval
Michael McGillicutty
Alex Riley
Percy Watson
Husky Harris
Lucky Cannon
Eli Cottonwood
Titus O'Neil
Biiiig gap between Husky and Lucky. The top 5 are all good and I enjoy watching them for various reasons. But the bottom 3 need to go.
Suffer the Past is the only card in here I'd really consider playing. Maaaaybe Shared Discovery if we think we're gonna get a bunch of reliable ways to generate a bunch of spawn? No argument can be made for any of the others, though.
I think Suffer the Past. It provides a decent amount of reach, so at least it DOES something.
We might well want to splash (because we want to push Blue hard in pack two so that we can run our Sphinx, so we may need a third colour in pack three if we're short on playables).
Wise words. If we want to play our Sphinx, it'll probably have to be financed with cards in the second pack. I don't recall us passing any really outstanding blue (Frostwind Invoker is good, though?), so with any luck it should be decently open. But otherwise we might have difficulties.
Getting a Wilds will make splashing and casting color-intensive cards much easier. We're probably going to do at least one of those, likely both. We should have a fairly easy time justifying splashes from now on, with two good enablers already and a main color that's friendly to getting more.

Do you also despise Owen Hart?

Plus it satisfies both of the criteria I laid out, which were admittedly pretty strict criteria.
1) Breaks beasts
2) Doesn't afraid of anything
I think there's one card in the pack that satisfies these criteria, so we appear to have lucked out.
It'd be a little hilarious, at least to me, if the GM spoke in the catchphrases of a different popular wrestler every week.
Cole: "And I quote: 'If you smeeeeeeeell what the GM is cooking.'"
Everything I've seen suggests otherwise, that it's a tease and a red herring.
Tough luck.

I see no convincing arguments against it. I was leaning towards it from the start, good to see other people like it too.
