I think its interesting to note that though Ive been playing since Tempest, I have ever only played in 46 sanctioned events, and amassed a 1915 rating, math says, when starting at 1600 Ive gained 315 points. 315/46=6.85 or roughly 7 points a tournament. I wish it gave me my overall match record. I know lame/sick brag, arrogant etc.. but its practically my last time to brag, as none of this is really relevant anymore.
I find it funny peopleseed says the perks of being a blue mage after his rant about not wanting to discuss it. All I am saying is I would seriously be pissed if you were just counted back in, because all of the sudden the topic meets your needs or interests. In 2+years, since your "invite" you find now the most appropriate time to want to be in, I find it ridiculous, and its just my two cents. I am pretty nit-picky and very much an 'old' man of the clan, (get off my lawn.....wouldve gotten away with it if it werent for you meddling kids.....more old man sayings etc...)
I never really bothered with competitive play, so I was wondering, is that a good score? I honestly don't know.
Also, when you say poppeleseed shouldnt just "be counted in", do you mean he shouldnt be counted as a full member? That's a tricky subject, one which Xanth or H_H might be able to address more thoroughly. He should still be able to add to the discussion and what not, regardless of his official status in the clan. It should also be noted that, while you, mindslavor, are remarkably resilient in dealing with pie discussion, not everyone (read most people) sticks around when their chosen topic of discussion is out of the limelight. Give the guy a break.
As an aside, welcome back poppeleseed! It's always good to have you around.
I'm a bit late on this, but I figgered I'd throw it out there. I'm with Xanth on madam Voldaren. When I first saw it, I assumed it was her knee, and actually had to go back to realize it wasn't :/
Ninja edit: I GOT A COPY OF PLATO'S REPUBLIC! Translated by G.M.A. Grube. Gonna be waxing about awesome greek words in a week now. 'advantage' already is quite interesting... seems to mean 'advancement', the gaining of something, rather than the more fixed state assessment the word carries today. By being able to mean both, you get to say cool stuff. Still reading the first dialogue.
Ooh! Let me know what you think of it. I spent a semester analyzing it and, while I came out very disappointed at the end, I did think there were some very interesting aspects of it.
@ Mindslavor
Looks like you've got a happy family! Tho it must be a bit awk that the clan kept talking about your sister for so long.
So Irene, right? We had to go to party during it, which was exciting to say the least. Wasn't too bad, though I broke my umbrella, which is a bit sad. Some power outages, but fortunately our food made it out of the ordeal just fine. I kind of wish it was worse, or that I was slightly inebriated. Either one would have made the night more enjoyable, I suspect.
Cards are cool. Love the art, obv. Gothic horror is dear to my heart, as is good art. Seems like Werewolves are very anti draw-go, which makes me very sad. Then again, they are in RG, so I guess its appropriate. Vampire legend is fantastically flavorful and fun. Finally a sophisticated vampire that makes its own coven. Lastly, loving that there's finally an unblockable creature with hexproof! Even if it is a 1/1.
I spend very little on magic these days. I probably only go to prereleases, and then pick up some singles afterward. Its really insignificant on a weekly or monthly basis.
So, I had an epiphany earlier today. I was looking for the right place to share it, and realized that here would be best. Unfortunately, by the time I had decided, I forgot what the epiphany was. Needless to say, that was disappointing.
I've been saving up to move out (I have about $10,500ish maybe more squirreled away) but I keep telling myself "buy don't rent" so the waiting game (for a better mortgage) continues. It would be nice to live with friends but I don't want to rent so yeah..
Renting is cheaper, and means you can put the money to use earlier. But buying is better in the long run, imo, so stick to it. What are you saving up to get? No offense or anything, but it could be a long while before you see the fruits of your labor. Then again, I dont know how much apartments cost to buy (can you buy an apartment? I dont know anyone who's done it in the US personally, but it feels weird to say its not a thing).
Hang in there... are you allowed to suck on those smooth silver-dollar-sized pebbles, so long as you don't swallow them? Doing so is a useful technique when you are very parched; it helps trick your body into thinking it's more hydrated than it is. I learned this from a movie I watched on Netflix recently, "The Way Back", pretty good movie too.
I am! I shall have to try that and see if it helps.
That statement isn't necessarily true. A lot of traits that come through on the internet just aren't as prevalent in reality. Not to say that's the case for anyone here, just that your point is flawed. However if the traits DID show through, then you're right, they'd probably be much, much worse. I can't say for sure if you and I would get along, but if you're anything in person like you are here, it'd certainly be entertaining.
Agreed. I know that I can be a lot more abrasive online (though I'm guessing not here), seeing as what I say is usually pretty harsh, but in person its significantly less so because of tone and all that jazz. Not saying some personalities wont be worse in person, but some will certainly be better.
Most of the time, if you put X guys living together...nothing happens.
This. Real life is pretty mundane. I think the only thing my roommates and I have disagreed about in the last two months is how much to drink on any given night. And in that case, even the loser wins.
Also, welcome and congrats to all the new full members. Do you feel your power levels rising?
So, I'm fasting. And that's fine, seeing as i've done it a million times before, but this time, I can't eat or drink for like... 16 hours. Plus, I've been moving around like crazy. ORITE, forgot to mention that my housing for August fell through and I had search like a madman for a place to stay. Fortunately, that got settled. Unfortunately, I still havent gotten this whole food thing figured out, which is really bad seeing as fasting successfully requires eating well, and in a timely manner.
@MTV idea
It'd be pretty boring, tbh. Like, we're all pretty chill, and our spats would just be nerdoffs. Which is not nearly as exciting as explosive arguments. Also, I get the feeling that none of us are really crazy. Maybe a little, but not enough to convince anyone to do crazy stuff.
@Outreach
I liked the idea of having a blog, where us blue mages muse on whatever we want. Whoever brought up that idea gets an internet highfive. We'd have plenty of variety, with no trouble. We could all have it listed as our website on FB, allowing anyone who is interested to check it out.
Deathscythe is where its at. And yes, I'm a little late to the game, but w/e.
@H_H
I'm actually with Irmis on this one. Also, you might be feeling frustrated already? In which case heat can increase that, yes. It can also induce confusion, but if the heat is causing that, you probably need to get some medical attention. Stay hydrated.
In other news, I forgot how quickly this thread moves.
Thanks for pointing that out Luminous, there are some classic MUC posters who I wished posted more. Ilvaldi, Oceanos, Blutsau, and even our BELOVED Xanth. Shucks even Irmis sometimes, hes like the letter Y as a vowel.
Agreed. But hey, the thread is an evolving thing, right? Perhaps this is a changing of the guard. Really, H_H is the only member of the clan from when I joined who still posts regularly (He does right? I havent checked).
Anyone seen the new harry potter movie yet. Just watched it and its pretty epic.
I really want to, but was unable. I'm attending a wedding this weekend, and my fam is in town. I was supposed to go with my sister, but we ran out of time. Also, I'm kind of dreading what will happen when its over. I was really big into HP, and even though I'm basically over it, watching the movies puts me right back into it for a long while. I have a tendency to not watch finales.
I know people have been throwing around the idea of him being Izzet, and I'm sure someone's probably noticed already, but just in case:
Stylistically, he's very Izzet. The brass/copper arm braces and tubes. The breeches with the blue stripes. The blue/red/gold overcoat with the elaborate work on it, featuring heavy layering. The blown back hair. Basically, he looks like something straight out of the Izzet style guide. Or at least, an evolution thereof.

you should use shelfari to organize your books. Its pretty good.

This is sadly too true.

Also, I have way too much stuff. Packing/moving is way too much of a pain. Yay for having parents who live overseas.
I also havent played Portal or Portal 2. The following actually kind of puts me off. No offense to people who like it, but damn.

Personally, I like em to be around 3-6. Enough to be present, but still few enough to feel special .
