What about trading post? It can produce tokens and can be a sac outlet too. Also you need one cmc creature or atleast bte so you could cast chandra on turn two.
What is the general opinion on 'free' cantrip for modern burns? With 12 we could drop our land to 15-16 and make our mana to damage ratio better by ditching all the bolt wannabees.
Just out of curiosity how do we deal with a resolved aetherling? And syncopate is really a must in the md to have any chance countering a turn 2 domri which will just steal games otherwise. Also mutavault is a nice addition to handle the planeswalker that didn't get countered (pithing needle just won't cut it imho)
3 trostani is a bit much, she is a legendary and you have no way on producing tokens except for thragtusk and charm, which is better for its other modes so 1 or maybe 2 should suffice. 4 faithmender is also too much as 1 usually does the job quite well. Cards you can consider is resto for obvious reason, either post or cauldron to combo with accord, and unflinching courage because that card is just unfair.
I was worried playing moonmist was a bit weak because of huntmaster but decks that plays huntmaster are really creature based decks that only wins with creatures and thats our best matchup so it doesn't hurt that much. On another note aetherize is a really weak card due to all the creatures with etb running around in standard nowadays. Between resto, huntmaster, serenity and thrag i just rather have some other card than aetherize....
After testing both version of GW and bant for a few days I'm still leaning to GW as better. Don't take me on it, maybe its just my style of play
Had a few games and feels less like a turbofog deck compared to the GW version. Feels like a bant friends deck and mostly winning off planeswalker. Maybe I'm playing it wrong...
I agree that Garruk is kinda weak in this deck but playing 3 Gideon would seem like too much. The reason i choose i choose Terrifying Presence is for the 2 mana and maybe moonmist is just better but i haven't test that out.
The deck worst problem imo is opponents planeswalker and the only MB cards that can react to them is Oring,divine deflection and maybe gideon so that's the thing I'm looking to fix.
And yes the turbo is kinda weak too but its sufficient enough so far and I mostly win off BO and gideon so its ok.
Introduction
Before you run off after seeing a big picture of Gideon just hear me out and let me know your opinions. Now to start off, TurboFog are decks that use a lot of fog effects and draw a lot of cards so you can keep on fogging until you can win by usually decking out your opponent. But since the turbo part of the deck lacks a good engine, we need to come with a better wincon than the previous version of these type of decks. So here's what i came up with;
Playing the deck
Play the deck like a traditional turbofog, cast BO as soon as possible and start to extort off all your other spell. The most important thing is to learn when to use a fog and when to take the damage because you don't want to end up with no fogs in had if that is at all possible. Use the planeswalker as pseudo-fogs as they can take some damage for you or protect them using your excess of fog if you think a win is near.
Current Deck Card Evaluation
Fogs Fog -The namesake of the deck that's also the best fog card you can use. Druid's Deliverance - Not the best card but gets the job done. Can be used to populate a garruk beast token. Can't protect planeswalker though. Terrifying Presence - Not the ideal fog but can also protect gideon if necessary. Heroes' Reunion - Not exactly a fog but in testing this card is both a better fog and sometimes a slightly worse fog that it only nets you 7 life. Divine Deflection - Again it's not exactly a fog but it helps to kill opposing planeswalker while protecting your own. Very versatile and one of the best combat trick you have. Turbo Otherworld Atlas - Sadly this is the only turbo engine we have access to in standard a must 4. Wincon Blind Obedience - While its nice to have haste hate in MB, the extort part is the one we want to actually use. With a lot of white mana every fog effect also gains you 1 more life and pings for 1. Cast this on turn 2 and you'll get a higher percentage of wins. Gideon, Champion of Justice - While this card seems unplayable at 1st, Gideon is perfect for this deck. With Fog in hand you can cast this on turn 5 with no worries. Start attacking after a terminus. Others Oblivion Ring - For every other problem you can't handle with fogs Garruk, Primal Hunter - Combo off pretty nicely with Gideon for insane amount of CA. Terminus - The sweeper of choice. For a deck with lots of fog we can usually survive until we get the sixth mana. Elixir of Immortality - Fail safe for shuffling your own graveyard. Can also let you gain 5 life.
Sideboard
Don't trust me on this sideboard because I'm seeing a lot of randoms decks now. It's not worth explaining what each card is best for and in what match up it will be use, I just personally thinks some of the cards are more or less versatile.
So the question, is Turbofog viable in post gatecrash standard? Would anyone want to test this out?
