:symtap:: Exile target land card from a graveyard. Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

Question: You must have a target for the full ability correct? Such as there must be a land in a graveyard in order to add a mana to my mana pool? I only ask because it isn't a cost associated with the ability, but it targets and so it must have a relevant target, correct?
I'm going to say straight off the bat that your post isn't the soundest I've read and I'm not understanding you completely but, if I think I have a good clue what you're asking.
RE: "You must have a target for the full ability. Correct?"
Yes. As you activate the ability, you target a card. If the card is no longer a valid target (for example, it's exiled before the ability resolves), then none of the effect happens. It "fizzles" if you will.
RE: "Such as there must be a land in a graveyard...?"
Yes. Although it's not a cost, the card is worded such that you must target something (which is to be removed as a part of the ability).
RE: "I only ask...?"
Yes, but the term of art is "valid target".
Dang, there goes my Bop replacement. Unless we get a card that lets me mill the top 10 cards of my own library for free, hell I'd pay 4 or 5 life for that option.
Question: Let's say I have instill energy on Deathrite Shaman, and I have a land in my graveyard.
May I tap shaman to add mana and exile land, and in response untap shaman and target same land again? In this case, I'd get 2 mana but only 1 land would be exiled?

You would only get 1 mana, as the ability targets the land to be removed if it is no longer in your graveyard when it comes to resolve the ability is countered on resolution and none of its effects happen.

605.1a An activated ability is a mana ability if it meets three criteria: it doesn't have a target, it could put mana into a player's mana pool when it resolves, and it's not a loyalty ability. (See rule 606, "Loyalty Abilities.")

Nope:
It has a target, so it's not a mana ability.
