Counter target creature spell. Put a 2/2 blue Illusion creature token onto the battlefield under your control.
UPDATE: Confirmed by Captain Black! Official wording is up!
So blue gets Mystic Snake now, only it can only counter creatures. I still think this could see play, most later-game things you want to counter are creatures (Broodmate, Baneslayer) or uncounterable anyways (Banefire).

This isn't COMPLETELY terrible, I kinda wish it was a hard counter...but what are ya gonna do.
It is a hard counter. It's just conditional.
I wish players would decide on universal language for talking about counterspell variants.
Soft counter = Unless the spell's controller pays X (Mana Leak)
Conditional = Creature/Noncreature/Other type (Negate)
Hard, unconditional = Cancel

It's not really Mystic Snake, though, because it doesn't really have bounce-engine potential. It's a cute trick, but it's a bit more difficult to abuse than Mystic Snake.
This isn't bad but its definitely not a mystic snake I think the token could have easily been 2/3 or something. Shows how basically countering and LD are the only things that have been getting nerfed while everything else has gotten power creep.
it might be exile target creature spell. anyway, it would be a mystic snake only all blue. might work.

Actually, that isn't quite dewfinitive. Lorwyn could generate 3/1s with haste but thetokens didn't have haste on them.
I wil ladmit that being different keywords where the haste only matters that turn, and the flying is a permanent memory issue makes it not quite a perfect example but nonetheless.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"

Tokens "with Haste" never get it on their token card for the reason you said. Flying, however, appears on flying tokens without question.
Counter target creature spell. If that spell is countered in this way, put a 2/2 blue Illusion creature token onto the battlefield.
This is based off of the clues in the Disfigure thread. I'm convinced this is the card, with the possible exception of rarity, and since the rumor monger hasn't commented on it in quite some time, I decided to give it it's own, unique thread.
Here's my guess:

It's okay, basically Remove Soul(now know as Essence Scatter) with a 2/2 attached for an extra 1U. It's no Mystic Snake but given it's mono blue, common and a lot easier to cast that's forgivable.
I don't know that'd i'd play this in standard thanks to the 4cc cost, but if I was playing blue in limited i'd be happy to take this pretty high pick.
They really don't want noncretures decks eh? Kind of silly to kill all the variety of the game by forcing creatures everywere, and making costly creature-counter.
True, sir. What I meant is that they don't provide anything of the sort in this set. and as a whole, it is very clear WotC has been pushing creature strategies for some years now.
I think it's easy to understand why, though. The early days of Magic were dominated by decks that didn't really rely on creatures, and as has been stated, Magic is supposed to be about the creatures first (at least, according to Wizards).
Underwhelming. I was hoping to get at least one hard counter besides Cancel (Mindbreak Trap does not count, as it exiles spells), and with the spoiler all but done, it looks as though that will not be happening.
At least I know now that Lullmage Mentor is going to be a near-worthless rare for now... and probably into Worldwake and "Prosper." Five Merfolk spoiled, and only one I'd consider playing at this point in Limited - Cosi's Trickster. Caller of Gales is far too fragile for my tastes to be reliable, even for Limited.

It's not a hard counter, as it doesn't hit noncreature spells. You do get the token, though.

Impossible. The rumor monger specifically said a counter spell, and that would not be one in the "riddling" world.

Positive. I've seen the token.

My Tamanoa decklist (RGW), infuriating my brother since it's so junky!
