This thread was copied from the MTGnews Rumor Mill to maintain a record of those who have had dealings with the rumor community in the past. Even though some members have since disappeared, and others have changed their member names when they came to MTG Salvation, the list will remain as is. We will add to it as appropriate. The blue line of "~~~~~" indicates the point at which we moved to MTG Salvation. - rancored_elf, January 2005
The purpose of these lists is threefold:
- to thank and recognize people who have helped us, sometimes at risk to their job or reputation
- to allow us to have a record of people whose rumors tend to be "less than accurate"
- to discourage people from lying outright to get attention
- because memorizing this information is beginning to get difficult, with the sheer number of posters here in the Rumor Mill
The first list is for more serious offenders. These are people who have outright lied to the Rumor Mill, and it has been confirmed. Basically, anything they have to say is likely to be false.
The second list is for first time offenders, people who tend to post unbelievable or questionable stuff, and people who report a rumor which turns out to be false but may have been mislead by a bad source. Therefore, they may not be outright lying to us - they may just have a bad source. Another example of someone who would go on this list is a member who posts information which seems to be false, but can't be proven so until the next set comes out. At that time, if it becomes evident they were lying outright, they'll be moved to the first list. Further information submitted by these members should still be heard, but perhaps taken with a grain of salt.
Please refrain from posting in the rumor threads "This person should be put on the list!" Moderators will determine who is added to the list, not other members. This list is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings, merely to help us all sort through the recent barrage of false rumors.
If you see your name on one of these lists, and disagree with it, please PM a Rumor Mill moderator.
The third list is a list of people who have contributed something useful to the rumor mill, and have done so in a way that puts them in a class above the rest. They're the Heros of the Rumor Mill! They have credibility, integrity, and they are worthy of our trust. (Or perhaps they just have a really good source!) Note: please don't contact the moderators, saying "I said something that was true, please add me to the list!" We'll add people as we see fit - it's an honor, not an obligation.
