I don't think that's the main factor... some of these pages weren't made by admins. Another related guess is whether an admin has edited that page or not, but that's not true either, because your page has been edited by an admin and yet it didn't show up.

While I cannot conclusively eliminate the template 'MTGS User', or 'MTGSUser', its redirect, as either causation or correlation, the date the page was created and/or edited (and perhaps more specifically some element was added) appears to be a factor in the inclusion of a page in a category; newer users (page added 2009/2010) appear to be excluded for perhaps a software error.
The template is 'most probably' not the cause; the software, or its settings, is 'most probably' it.
Yes, time of creation seems to be a factor; my page was created fairly recently compared to others, and the pages SGT_Chubbz created for Clan Mono-Black are affected here as well. I noticed you added one question mark under my unspecified gender as a test edit to test my hypothesis.
EDIT: Oh, and it's not like the pages don't exist when you're logged in; they're just not visible on the category page. You can still search "Aurora Illumina" (or click the link in my sig) when you're not logged in and still reach a page.
(PS. Someone (an anonymous IP) nearly blanked my page around a week ago. Is there a punishment to this like there is on Wikipedia? Usually, the user would be warned with something like this on their talk page.)
The issue lies neither with the use of the template "MTGS User" (or "MTGSUser") nor with manual insertion of the code "[[Category:MTGS user]]".

Who're you asking?
If me, why ask me? I ain't no one, y'all!

No hearing, no pleas, no arraignment, no trial, no sentencing, no appeal, no probation, no clemency; no procedure.(?) Procedure is an unnecessary evil and slayer of Father Time.
If an editor were to edit in what is ruled as a "blatantly egregious" or similar manner (e.g., links to pornographic and/or illicit material, single-edit/single-use advertising), he/she/it will be exempt from the "baseball" guidelines and may face a more-serious response at the discretion of and from the executives of the wiki.
If an editor were to persist editing in the aforementioned manner (i.e., he/she/it is a deemed a "prior and persistent offender"), he/she/it may be banned for an "infinite" duration.
Truthfully, I do not know if there is or was a hard-and-fast system created by the wiki's executive and am making up the above as I go -- or, I forget/forgot.

Edit: A programmer/troubleshooter at WikiMedia stated that this problem could have arisen due to an increase in server-side traffic/demand; and, as such, the server on which the MTGS Wiki is on is not properly processing something about cached somethings.
He stated that as he does not have a complete picture of this website, he cannot be certain.
As this appears to be an issue with pages from way back, I proffer that this is not solely to do with an increase in traffic/demand/whatever (apparently it's rumour season yet again in the wonderful world of Magic: The Gathering and there appears to be a positive correlation between rumour season and an increase in visitors/hits/requests).
If you view the page while logged in to the Wiki, you'll see more links than if you view it while not logged in. Must be a bug?

i can confirm this same thing happens to me as well, maybe because some of these pages weren't made by admin accounts?

A diagrammatic comparison is provided for those clearly slow like myself.
Unlogged in (59) v. logged in (74).
Noticeably, in the sidebar and under 'mtgsalvation.com', 'magiccards.info' becomes 'MagicCards.Info' when logged in.
The software does not discern difference.

Anyway, fixed error. (How? By deleting the category page.)
Strange thing. Look into when have the time.
Thanks for the tip that caused the necessary strife.
Darnit, I can't change the thread header appearing up -- unless I post a thread dedicated to the fixing of the error.
