I have an easier solution: just set your comp to auto save your game log, then if any error comes up that needs 3rd party interference, both players have proof. Screen Shots work too, I guess, but game logs require a lot less effort, and probably contain a lot more relevant data.
MWS Errors: There are several known errors that cause MWS to crash. To prevent these crashes, it is players should NOT touch any object that is on the opponent’s side of the field. With arrows, all players are required to drag an arrow to show the target of a spell/ability or declare the target in the chat window (one or the other, not both). Do not assume a card is being targeted; wait for targets to be declared before moving a card (even if there is only one legal target). For auras, if a player desires to enchant a permanent on the opponent’s board, once the spell resolves the person who played the aura should pass it over to the opponent’s side of the field. The opponent will then enchant the permanent with the aura. However, if the aura would cause the target to leave play, the players do not have to go through with the attaching process.
Furthermore, I propose the following rules for cohesive play:
Each player should PM his opponent with his/her screen name, and communicate over aim. If players cannot find an appropriate time to play a match within 3 days, the game will be determined either a draw or the result will be determined randomly (however you want to do this Lotus)
To start a match, players should role a 20 sided dice and the high roller should determine who plays first. This is pretty obvious, but it should probably just be stated, and just make sure you don't draw your opener before you role.
If a player is non-responsive for some period (I'd propose 5 minutes or so), or if he disconnects, intentionally or not (i.e. his opponent receives a <system> player lost message), he should be determined to have forfeited that game. If a player is further non-responsive, logs off of his instant messenger program, etc, he should be determined to have forfeited the match. Please provide appropriate game logs/etc if this is the case.
Feel free to edit these, but I feel that having a few basic ground rules for these situations would be beneficial towards running a cohesive tournament.
Everyone should have their decks posted by tonight so we can start this soon.
Good luck to everyone, unless you're playing ichorid, in which case you have no soul.
One person sent me a PM saying they would get there list in by today, so today will be the final day for deck submissions. Players who do not submit a deck list will be cut, and we can begin.
I would propose that each pair is given three days to complete a match, the scheduling of which should be determined by them via pms/ims (both of which are good since they leave a virtual paper trail). After that, both players report their results.
~Each pairing has 3 days to complete, and report the match to me via PM.
~Do not touch any object that is on the opponent’s side of the field. Use targeting arrows (by holding down the right mouse button and dragging to your desired target) to show the target of a spell/ability, or declare the target in the chat window. Do not assume a card and/or player is being targeted; wait for targets to be declared before moving a card (even if there is only one legal target), or resolving any spell.
~It is up to both player's to report the outcome of each match. Should there be a legitimate game error during the match, and the game crashes, the following will take place:
1. We will check MWS saved data logs to ensure legitimacy. Or;
2. Check a captured screen shot.
3. The game will be replayed upon proper determination that the game crashed.
~If you have to leave your computer during a game for an extended period of time (exceeding 5 min.), it will considered a concession. There is however a 5 minute grace period once per match.
~We will all follow proper game etiquette and rules.
1. Roll a 20-sided dice to determine who will begin play; before drawing your opening hand.
2. The player who will begin the game, will draw his/her hand first, announce to keep or mulligan, resolve mulligans if the case may be, than the player on the draw will do the same.
3. Use game phases.
4. Once a card is put into the play area, it is played (if legal). There are no take backs, unless at the discretion of your opponent.

Ok guy's, you have three days to contact your opponent, arrange a play time, and complete your match and post the results here, and/or PM them to me. Both player's must confirm the results.
I'm not sure exactly how this qualifies as a "dead part of the forum." It's not substantially less active than any of the other Vintage subforums, which is to say, not very active.
I set the redirect on both threads in the main forum to point here for at least 4 days. For anyone who's already participating in this tournament that should be more than enough time for them to know where the thread has been moved to.

I am no longer on MTGS staff, so please don't contact me asking me to do staff things. :|
Well, we don't run that many of these tournaments on the site (at least this is the first Vintage one I can ever recall) so it's not like we've ever necessarily had a "perfect fit" for it. Most of the event information winds up in here so that's where I put it.

I would be happy to play my match against Demetri X instead if he wants to. It gives us both a chance to play which is what this tournament is all about.
