Please, accept that Magic costs money to play, and drop it. A playset of Baneslayers>playset of duals. New Jace>Force of Will. Etc... Not to mention, Legacy is so wide open, that it's easy to build a deck that can perform reasonably well without very many "money staples" at all.
I may have top8ed this event today, i may not have. I guess you'll just have to wonder what decks ive been playing since i dont sig them, and then wonder how i ended up 5th in cut to Top 8, running 5-1-1 (ID) through BW Tokens twice, 5cc twice, Bant, Blightning, and GW aggro. Tough crowd, LSV's neo-tokens sure is the deck to beat out there (although, if i had realized i could win a game, i might not even have that 1 match loss to the 2nd tokens deck i played).
People weren't showing their true guns though. Felt like people were saving up for next weekend.

Lol... it sounds like we might have played. I was 3rd going into T8 at 5-0-2 (2 IDs) then lost first round of T8. I was running GW aggro, that honestly did have decent matchups yesterday, but the new Tokens build bowled me over in T8... I played 2 5cc builds, Dark Bant, BW Tokens, and a Swans build in the swiss.
It was a good tourney though.....great practice for next week

Honestly, I'd be surprised if this got much of a turnout(for Standard). $25 is a steep entry fee for when the best payout you can receive is a $30 foil and a $80 box. The Vintage payout was nice though.

Uhh, 4 Foil Elspeth and a box? o.O
It had a pretty decent turnout...72ish, similar to the last 2 events I think.
77 decks and a real metagame. For a weekend with Seattle going on the weekend before Regionals in Philly, for a Jersey based event, i'd say that's not a bad turnout.
And i can attest to the metagame being real. Outside of a new archtype springing up miraculously (probably waiting for Regionals on that), it showed the functionality of current archtypes with Alara Reborn (namely, 5cc and BW tokens, which was really probably 50-60% of the decks) and gave new decks like mine a chance to test.
And i went fifth to top 8 and lost with game 3 vs ReveillarkBoatbrew that played 3 Vengeants i got rid of, and a Goldmane when in topdecking mode at 4 life late. Everyone agreed, keeping a 5 land opener with Celestial Purge 2x was probably not smart, but he mull'd to 6, and i figured i could remove his first Figure, and then Ajani Vengeant and run into pure gas. He just lucked out in an epic game 3. But ultimately, good testing provided for me, and everyone i know had a good time.
Cyan- How is it that Foil 4x of CC, BB, MV, or Elspeth a bad prize + box of ARB? I got a box myself for losing in Top 8, i feel like i came out ahead (another Meddling Mage, Jenara, Uril, and Pulse amonst other things.)

when this event was in jersey there was like 100+ people, and the edison ptqs have a ton of people, sometimes they cant even fit them all when its like 200+ so i dont know what you mean by for a jersey event. besides it wasnt in jersey
Jersey...Philly.....same ratio of gold chains per chest hair.;)
Woulda gone but the family comes first....have they posted decklists anywhere? I saw the Top 8 decks on SCG...no lists yet.

Havent seen any of the other decklists, but My G/W aggro build T8ed... Im sure I wont be playing it saturday, but If anyone wants the list, send me a PM...
I can also provide you with most of the decklist for the B/W/g Tokens list as well since thats what ran me over in the T8.

It's true that you come out ahead if you get a box, but the risk vs. reward factor isn't great.
But anyway, like I said, I thought it was 1 of those foils, not a playset. Nevermind
